if he can translate nujus words, shouldnt he be wearing the mask of translation??

Well, symbolicly yes. However, since the masks belonging to the Matoran are symply replicas of the Kanohi belonging to the Toa and Turaga, it doesn't really matter which mask Matoro has since it doesn't give him any powers any ways.

Remeber that the Matorians were on Mata-Nui longer than the Toa, so they would understand the 'riddles' that they say.
