Okay, if you think this is stupid, don't hesitate to say so, but I think that the toa becoming the nuva was a trap set up by the Bahrag.

When them Bahrag warned that the toa had only unleashed a greater power, they didn't mean the Kal. They meant the protodermis. Think about it. The toa Nuva have greater powers, but a horrible weakness, their elemental powers being a symbol. I think the Bahrag had created a well laid trap, by making the toa fall through the tubes filled with protodermis. What do you think?

It's a good theory but I think it's a little off.
1) If the bohrok were sleping how did the bahrag make it. I don't think they did it themselves.
2)Their powers are not a symbol. The powers are in them but by stealing the symbol the powers leave them.
3)Why make the toa stronger and have stronger masks. If you want to beat them you wouldn't want them stronger than you.

I agree with Durok-kal. They are too strong now for it to be the Barhag, unless the barhag are hiding or soemthing like that.
They won't turn olda again because lego has basically sold all of the olda out.
