The Turaga might be Tohunga Nuva who wear normal Kanohi. What do you think?

The new matoran that are coming out this year are just more accurate versions of the movie matoran. This design is what LEGO originally intended them to look like, but due to the fact that they were released as a McDonalds promotion in the USA, they had to linit the number of peices used, and so used the simpler design.
About the Turaga being Matoran Nuva, I doubt it. It could be true as there is a lot that we don't know about the Matoran and their past which will all be revealed in 2004 ;-).

They're not. They are upgraded by ceremonial purposes. In fact, if it weren't for McDonald's piece-limit, that would have been what we got two years ago. And the Turaga are priests, not Nuva.

he's right.... and from what GregF told us, in the next comic (I think...) they all learn how to upgrade to a new level in body shape... so now we got all-tall little people!
anyway, the Turaga are priests and village leaders...

Upgraded? The turaga were just always there, as were the Matoran (who used to be called Tohunga). If a Turaga were to, well, die, maybe someone else would become a turaga, but it's doubtful. The village would probably stay Turaga-less.

OK, a Turaga is a Matoran. They were chosen to be a priest because - er, well they did something.
The new Matoran are not Matoran Nuva - they are ordinary Matoran who were beefed up by a technique know by the Turaga so that they could defend the island against the Rahkshi.
My theory is that the Tohunga became Turaga by the 'beefing-up' method. So here is an example:
In Ta-Koro there was once an old Turaga, who decided to give up his job of priest. So he elected a Tohunga called Vakama. He Turaga-rised him using a method that only the Turaga know. And now Vakama is Turaga.
That would explain how only the Taraga know about this method of beefing-upping.

I don't think the Turaga are even the same "race" as the Matoran. They seem to be older/more mature, as well as knowing a lot more than your average Matoran. To me they are a distinct type, just as Toa are distinct from the Matoran.

Naa, The Tohunga already have nuva forms! You know, the new Matoran coming out soon ! |
Matoran don't have Nuva forms, they just look different because Lego got to make them differently. The Turaga are the village elders, in a way they're the mayor of that town. And the Toa are like gods.

No what GregF said was that there name is changed when a Matoran does something of great heroics. They are not upgraded to a new form. All the Matorans have that form cause of the movie. It is just that simple. There new form has nothing to do with them being Nuva. It is purely for MOVIE purposes. The Turaga are the priest.
Think about this for those of you old enough to remember the SMURF. They were created to be the same age. And Grandpa Smurf was always the same age. Papa Smurf was always the same age. THe smurfs were 101 years old in the cartoon. And they never looked a day over 18 lol <------ hahaha at me.
So just like the Toa were greated in there form then Turaga could have been created in there form. Just before the addition of Matorans and Toa.
I don't think they are of any "race" I they everyone is a Matoran, from the Toa to the Turaga to the matorans. They all were Kanohi. I think you get into different creatures. When you get to the Bohrok. I think that is there Species. THen you have different variations Like Kal and Va. I even think that the Krana are a SPecies. ANd the ranks are different variations. I think the Rahkshi are the Species. and the 6 are different varaiations.
There is only ONE "race" and that is the Human race. Other ethnicities are just variations of the specie known as Human or Homo Sphian. Just like Canine is a Species. German Shepard is a type or Varation of the Canine. Just like Feline is a Species. Russian Blue is a type or varation. Bovine (Cows) is a Species and Brown Swiss is a type or variation.
We see eye to eye on that BCmatrix. All (the great majority) of Humans have 2 ears, 2 eyes, 1 nose, 1 mout, 2 arms, 2 legs, 10 fingers and 10 toes. RIGHT. Now we are all Human. However we differ slighly. Some might have melalin which is the pigment that make people Brown or darker. That is one of the things that creates a Type or variation of a human. Just like the Bohrok and Kal are pretty much the same Species they just have a few different markings and are stronger. But they are Bohrok none the less.
Do anyone see what I am saying. I hope so.

If I were a Turaga and I saw the new Matorans I'd say, "AHH! THE LITTLE PEOPLE ARE GIANTS! Hey, Vakama, can you get me some dry pants, please?" LOL!
I want to eat LEGO alive because they didn't make a Kongu set! GRR! GASP! GRR! GIANT LITTLE PEOPLE! ATTACK!
No, the Turaga are supposedly (GregF said) are more than likely were once Toa then they finished thier duty and became a more convinient form. But I say they were just always that form.

ithink you are right about the Matoran becoming the Turaga maybe it is kind of like Star Wars where the old "Turaga" trained Vakama and he had to train and read the ancient scrolls and in combat and then when he was done the "old Turaga" "Turagised" Vakama and then gave him the sacred Fire Staff
Yeah that's it!!!

::Sighs, shakes his head slowly:: No, people. Just... no. The Turaga probably aren't "Matoran Nuva," and the new Matoran figures DEFINITLEY aren't Matoran Nuva. There's no "in-story" reason why the Tohunga look "beefyer." These are just new toys. They didn't drink protodermis, or learn some terrible, DragonBall Z-style "beefin up" technique. They just... look... different. If you don't wanna accept that, fine. Just stop posting about a question that's already been answered.
Now, here's my theory about the Turaga, even though nobody asked for it: If anyone's seen my theories about Mata Nui himself, before the Makuta sealed him in an endless sleep, you'd know that I think the Tohunga are kind of likes the Elves from the works of J.R.R Tolkien- they won't die of old age or natural causes, but they can be killed or destroyed. We've never seen a Matoran die of old age, and I doubt we will, but in the MNOLG, Jala mentions how he's "lost" many friends to Rahi battles. I also theorized that Mata Nui didn't make the entire Tohunga race, but he did make more of them (H's a God of creation. Spontaneous life-giving is his hobby).
I figure Mata Nui saw a need for each tribe to have leadership. So, he selected the oldest and wisest Tohunga from each of the six tribes and gave them increased power to help them become better leaders. They became the Turaga, and have been ever since. As a mark of their leadership, their physical shape also changed, remaining vaguley Matoran, but still different enough for them to stand out. I don't believe in the idea that there have been more than one Turaga at any given time for any given village. For example, I think Vakama has always been Turaga of Ta-Koro. He didn't inhereit the title from any one who came before him.
