OK, Lego keeps telling us how evil Makuta is, using words like infection, taint, and darkness. But the true measure of evil is a person's actions. So I am setting out to quantify Makuta's evil by making a list of his unsavory deeds. Feel free to post any additions or comments.
He followed Mata Nui to the island without being sent by the Great Beings.
He enslaved helpless animals, the Rahi, with his mind-controlling masks.
He put the rightful ruler of the island into a deep sleep to usurp his position.
Instead of earning their adoration in any way, he simply demanded that the Matoran worship him.
He used his mind-controlled beasts to terrorize the villagers.
He tried to deceive the Toa in the Mangaia by putting on the appearance of a Matoran.
He manipulated the Bohrok and their mission for his own selfish ends, resulting in mass destruction whose only discernible purpose was to buy Makuta some time to regain his strength and launch his next scheme.
Any more?

Dork? Makuta is the best character in Bionicle. I mean anyone who would enslave innocent bystanders to do his will is a good guy right?

Tahnok8563, that was uncalled for.
Any more ideas? The list seems kinda short to me. I guess he hasn't really had that much time to be bad. I'm sure the movie will build him up as a villain, though.

tahnok8563, that was spam, anyways, Makuta is pretty evil, he's kinda scary, (if you know what i mean) he used the creatures he captured to attack the toa, he is using the borahk kal the same way as the normal borahk, thats all i can think of.

Here's one.
He has no emotions, no feelings, no nothing. Just a pure evil heart.

He sent Mata-Nui to sleep.
Nice idea, one of cticicizims of "Die another day" is the villan doesn't do anything bad, so Bionicle over Bond any day!
PS: Bionicle and Bond, hmm...

he wants to shatter the toas' unity duty. I really see no point of him being evil. its not like he gains anything and whats the point of ruling matanui?? its not like he gets money........ lego would do anything to impress kids..

No he's not - Makuta plays no part in the Bohrok-Kal's mission.
The Bahrag made the Bohrok-Kal in case they were ever imprisoned. Nothing to do with Makuta.

No no no. Makuta is not directly responsable for the Bohrok/Kal. But I think he still had some effect on them. (If anyone is wondering why I seem to know so much about BZPower, it's becuase I used the 'Guest' thing for awhile, to learn more about this great website!!)

Looks like we're heading off on a tangent here, but that's OK. From what I've seen of Greg Farshtey's posts, I'm pretty sure Makuta released the Bohrok swarms himself before the proper time for their mission. I'm not counting the Bahrag as villains in Bionicle because they were just used by Makuta like the Rahi were. He took advantage of their ignorance.
If I had to rate Makuta on an evil meter, I would place him higher than Magneto of X-men, but lower than a lot of other villains from more mature story concepts like Spawn. Makuta doesn't eat souls or enslave people in eternity, but he doesn't seem to have any morals either.

He unleashed the Bohrok upon the island when he was defeated. It's in the end scene of Monolog 1.

I dunno...there has to be some connection between Makuta and the Bohrok.
