Master of the Rahkshi
Okay, my latest set of questions:
QUOTE
Greg, would you please answer these questions?

If a pack of Manas was pitted against a single Rahkshi, would the Manas be strong enough to survive, or even win?
Probably depends on the Rahkshi. Lerahk could beat them...I doubt Kurahk could, since Manas already dislike each other and making them angry at each other won't do a lot of good.

What kind of differences would there be if a shadow kraata piloted a Rahkshi? (i.e. could it still infect from a distance)
I doubt it, since it is sealed in a protective hatch. I am still cataloging differences.

Does the Ussanui somehow gain artificial life in the movie? Or is it just a plain machine?
No, it's a machine, as far as I know.

When the time IS right for the Bahrag to return Mata Nui to the before-time, will the signal be re-sent, and will they then do so?
Yes.

Will the Toa Nuva Kaita come into the storyline again?
Possibly.

Sorry if you've answered this before, but how exactly does the Ussanui fly?
I don't know all the engineering details... I just know it looked like it was flying in the movie.

Thank you very much.

I like the first one particularly.

1. I have noticed that on the Ussanui are Kal hand-shields. You said that the Ussanui is made out of fallen Rahkshi and Bohrok parts, so does that mean there are Bohrok-Kal parts as well? I can't see how that is possible, since they are currently "defeated."
Why would there being defeated matter? Remember, the Toa comment that the Turaga will know what to do with the "remains" of the Kal. Therefore, they could have salvaged parts from the ones who remained near the Bahrag prison.

2. Where are the beings that made the Bahrag right now? In Paradise?
Can't answer it.

3. When you say the Toa and Bohrok are related, does that mean "genetically?"(If they have blood) or they were made by the same being?
As far as I know, they do not have blood and since there is no biological reproduction on Mata Nui, genetically wouldn't make much sense. My guess is that there are some similarities in their construction.

4. Is whoever made the Kanohi still around? If so, why doesn't he make more more masks for the Toa?
First answer is yes. Second answer is lack of the proper materials and lack of the proper equipment. The entire story of how Kanohi are made and who made them will be told in the coming year.

5. Did a single being create the Kanohi? Or did multiple beings create the Kanohi?
I am not ABSOLUTELY positive on this answer, but I believe the answer is multiple beings had a hand in the process.

I asked Greg a rather cool question, and he gave me a rather cool answer:

QUOTE
Hi, I was just playing with my Brand New TAKANUVA set, and this idea popped into my mind. Can Takanuva create lasers? I mean, a laser is just a point of focused light.

That is a good question. I would think that Takanuva would be able to use light beams, the same way Tahu uses fire.. so if he had sufficient control, my guess would be yes. Thart is just my opinion, though.

Greg

Hehe...

Makuta: No one can defeat me! Hey, what's that--GAH! MY EYES!!! I'M BLINDEDEDEDED!!!
The Order of Mata-Nui
I put this:QUOTE
I have a couple of auestions for ya. I'm sorry to bother you but I have to know! lol.

1. Is mata-nui sleepin in the heavens or on the island or underground?
Can't answer it.

2. If takanuva is suppose to beat makuta, what are the other 6's perpose? To rouse mata-nui?
Yes.

3. If the other 6's toas job is to rouse mata-nui, how are they suppose to do it?
Not even they know that yet.

4. Who made the bohrok, kal, va, and bahrag?
Can't reveal it yet, but they were probably all made by the same people.

5. How many great beings are there?
No idea.

6. How were the turaga made?
A Turaga isn't really "made"... he sort of evolves into a Turaga if he is willing to pursue the path of wisdom.

7. Did the matoran come from a different island to mata-nui, or did mata-nui make them? Basically, I'm askin, where are they from?
You will find out next year.

8. It has already been known that nobody transforms into takanuva, that hes just always been there unconsiuous, so, where is he in the underground?
No, that has not been revealed -- the only thing I have ever said is that Takanuva is not Mata Nui or Gali. I have never said if he is a new character or an old one transformed.

9. What are the point of all these multi-colored kraata?
Don't understand your question.

10. Is the reason Makuta didn't permanently go away the first time he was defeated cause takanuva wasn't with the other toa?
Yes.

11. I read somewhere that Makuta isn't afraid of Mata-Nui wakin up, its something else. What's he scared of?
You will get a better idea in the movie.

AND THE FINAL QUESTION........

12. I have relized the fact that if Makuta was beaten, he could simply come back to mata-nui!!! So what I'm askin is, how do you get makuta's soul to go away? How does he vanish forever?
Again, you should find out more in the movie.

Thanks. smile.gif

1 What would happen if you put a Shadow kraata into protodermis?
It would evolve into Rahkshi armor.
(yes, but what type of Rahkshi armor?)

2 Does the Ussanui need all 6 kraata (for each of it's Rahkshi backs) to opreate, or can it run on just one or two?
I believe that there are slots for four or five Kraata on the model.

3 What is the purpose of the clear Avohkii in this BZP review?

It's a variation of the Avohkii, meant to reflect how his mask glitters and glows when his full power is in play.

(This was actually my theory on it!)

I was wondering what was up with this transparent mask of light. Does it have a place in the storyline?

It's a variation of the Avohkii. When Takanuva's body is suffused with light, that is how his mask looks as it glows. It doesn't have any different powers.

Here are my questions I asked Greg Farshtey

QUOTE
Hello Mr. Farshtey,
I would like to ask you some questions.

1. Are there any matoran that live other places besides    mata nui?
Not that we know of.

2. After the bohrok kal were defeated why didn't the toa just destroy the bahrag so they did not have to worry about them coming back and unleashing the swarms agien.
Because Toa do not kill.

3. Do you know any of the kraata spicies which wasnt one of the six that had a rahkshi's names? If so can you tell me that kraata's name and what power it's rahkshi would have?
No, I am still waiting on a list of all the kraata from Denmark.

4. If makuta is mata nui's brother and makuta can make kraata can mata nui make any creatures? Did he make the matoran?
Hmmmmm... well, I think you can probably say he had a hand in that, yes.

5. Do you have a favorite kraata? For example I got a kraata with a black front and a red back and it is my favorite kraata. If you havent seen any of the kraata from the pack is there a color you wish they made?
I can't really say I have a favorite, no.

6. If the bahrag ever got free agien would they make a new set of kal?
It's certainly possible.

7. In comic# 12 it said tahnok kal had just been caged by his electrical power, was he ever realy destroyed like the other kal or just stuck in an electrical cage next to the bahrag?
No, essentially what happened is the electricity sort of fused his "circuits," paralyzing him.

Thank you for your time. I realy apriciate how you help all of us at bzpower. biggrin.gif

So, it was mata nui who created the matoran I wonder how he did.

Hi Greg, I have a few questions I would like you to answer.

1) In one topic you said the Rahkshi will make a cameo
appearence in 04', how is that if they are to be defeated
and broken up into peices for the Ussanui.

You are going to have to wait and see.

2) You once said that any Kraata if exposed to Protodermis
could me turned into a Rahkshi, there are also other colours
that have not turned into Rahkshi, will these be 'explored'
in the future?

Again, there may be some cameo appearances of those Rahkshi.

3) Are the creators of the Bohrok and Bahrag still undergrou-
nd somewhere, or are they gine forever?

Can't answer it.

4) I saw the new Mask of Light trailer not long ago and there
is a shot of Makuta with an infected Hau in the background,
was that a ghosted image or a real feature in Makuta's lair?
And How big is Makuta's lair?

It's pretty good-sized. And I haven't seen the trailer you are speaking of, so I really can't answer. The only Hau I know of in the lair is a huge stone Hau meant to represent Mata Nui, and it is not infected.

5) Once you said that Makuta was trying to keep the Matoran
out of the underground, and you also said he is trying to ke-
ep Mata-Nui asleep, so is he trying to keep the Matoran from
awakening Mata-Nui, does that suggest Mata-Nui is asleep
underground? Or is there a greater, darker secret undergrou-
nd?

The means to awaken Mata Nui is underground. And yes, there are other secrets there as well.

6) If Takanuva's destiny is to defeat Makuta, and the other
Toa's is to awaken Mata-Nui, does this mean something is
going to happen to Takanuva, or he will go as he is not need-
ed anymore?

No, he is staying around with the other six Toa, as far as I know.

7) Are or were the Shadow Toa's Kanohi born from Makuta's
essence or were they made like every other Kanohi?

My own theory of the shadow Toa is that they were the dark sides of the Toa brought to life by Makuta. As such, they may have simply been wearing shadow, mirrored versions of the Toa's Kanohi, not new ones.

8) I now have a Takanuva set and there is a Dark Grey Hau
and a Transparent sparkley Avohkii, what are there roles?
The dark grey Hau goes on the Ussanui. The Avohkii is a variant version, meant to reflect what it looks like when Takanuva's light power courses through him.

9) Once you said that the Ussanui was silver because that
as the colour of Rahkshi when dismantled, is this the same
for Bohrok, Matoran, Turaga, Rahi, Bahrag, Bohrok-Va and
Toa?
Well, it isn't true for Bohrok all the time, because the Boxor is not all silver. And I have never seen any of the others dismantled.

10) At the E3 Expo (A computer game Event revealing games
to come) they had a video for the new Bionicle Consol/PC Ga-
me comming this fall. It said there would be an exclusive
Bionicle Tool, they said weapon bit they do mean tool, have
you got any info on this?
No.

11) In past and current Bionicle storylines everything has an
elemental power, how did each get them and how were they
generated?)
It is part of their fundamental nature.. they are essentially "born" with them. In the case of Toa, basically three things make a Toa -- physical form, elemental power, and the skill to use Great Masks.

12) What is the Dark Grey Hau's function on the Ussanui?
It's hard to explain.. if it is what I think it is (and it might not be, but my idea makes sense), there is no way to explain it without giving away movie plot.

Thanks alot again,

Bisc.

You should pay attention to the answers in bold.

1) Will MoL take us to an entirely different storyline, or just broaden the end on comic #12?
Mask of Light ushers in a whole new storyline for 2004.

2) Are the comics planned to be made until the end of Bionicle, or will the story be told somehow else?
At this point, there are no plans to stop doing the comics.

3) Is it true that Miramax is producing 4 Bionicle films, one of which will be in theaters in 2004?
No, that's a rumor. We are hoping the first movie does well and they will want to do more, but no number of sequels has been discussed and there will not be an in-theater movie in 2004. Those take a lot longer to make than videos do.

4) Will there be any more super collectables like the SSKK or WMKK?
Yes, it's possible. I know that Cartoon Network will have a platinum Mask of Light as one of their Search for the Seventh Toa contest prizes.

5) Is the Makuta set truly Makuta, or just his spirit inhabited in a body? Meaning, if the Makuta machine was destroyed, would Makuta die?
That is a very good question. We know Makuta can look like anything he wants to.. so if that body was destroyed somehow, would he really be gone?

6) Are there plans to make more Matoran/machine sets like the Boxor?
Not sure, but we have talked about the possibility of other vehicle sets down the road.

7) Will the Bahrag be in the foreseeable storyline?
Nothing planned for them right now, although a cameo is always possible.

8) Is there a 7th Turaga?
No.

Thanks!!!!

Especially check out the ones in bold!

I found some old answered questions that I thought were interesting. I might have to make two post though.

QUOTE
Hi, I have a couple (sure) of questions to ask.

1) How would you hot-wire a Bohrok? Don't they cease to function when the krana is removed?
No, they wander aimlessly, for the most part. The krana is like the driver of a car... he doesn't provide the power for the car.

2) Will the ToL combine with the other Toa Nuva?
Not in the movie, no.

3) How tall are the Rahkshi (in feet)?
Well, they are bigger than the Toa, so I would 8 to 9 feet, maybe.

4) When a kraata touches protodermis does it just turn into Rahkshi armor? If so, wouldn't that make the Rahkshi armor biological armor since the kraata are living?
It takes a long time, but yes, eventually it becomes Rahkshi armor. But it also becomes a non-living substance in the process of transmutation.

5) So, is it possible to create spare Rahkshi armor (realizes how powerful an army of Rahkshi would be )?

If you had enough kraata and liquid protodermis, yes.

6) Could the ToL take on all six Rahkshi at once?
Possibly.

7) Can the Rahkshi combine with Makuta?
There is no official combo model for that, but I am sure you could do a MOC.

8) Why is it so hard for a kraata to grow to the seventh stage?
It's sort of like... a genetic mutation, or a really rare process of random selection.. only so many have it in them to become golden.

9) How many stages can a kraata go through?
Six, plus a seventh if it is very lucky.

10) Would the Rahkshi have to do a special deed to recieve a stage sevenkraata?
No. Stage seven kraata usually operate outside of Rahkshi, because their power would sort of be wasted in Rahkshi armor.

11) I know this is a weird question but i like Star Wars so: Could all six Rahkshi take on about 10,000 stormtroopers?
Probably.

12) In the CD video that BZP got, where was the ToL walking? Was it underground Mata Nui?
Yes, I believe so, but i don't think that scene of him fighting the Rahkshi actually happens in the movie.

Thank You for answering my questions!

Thank You!

QUOTE
Hello again.

1) Does Makuta get his protodermis from the same source the Toa were transformed in?

No. There are other sources.

2) I know this happened a while ago, but it just seemed weird how the Toa stood in just the right place. Did whoever built the tubes of protodermis know exactly what was going to happen in the Toa's fight with the Bahrag?

It was destined to happen, so probably yes.

3) How did Makuta give the Rahkshi their powers? Does Makuta have all of the powers of the Rahkshi?

Good question... he certainly has some of them, but it may be he does not use all of them.

4) Do you know how far away the golden kraata can be from a mask to infect it?

No, not yet, will soon.

5) If you placed a golden kraata in Rahkshi armor, would the Rahkshi have the same powers as with a level six kraata?

Yes.

6) Will the golden kraata be the new promotion in mask packs? If so, could I have one?(momsmacks Bionicle#1 upside head ) I mean , just kidding

Thanks, Bionicle#1

It's going to be part of a retail promotion. It won't be randomly inserted in packs.

Sorry, I know I have been PMing you alot lately, but since the new update, a few questions have sprung up.

1) Can Nuhvok Kal create a black hole since it looks like one swallowed him up in the update? (actually the whole planet would have been swallowed)
He can when his power runs wild -- he can't normally -- and yes, I know under Earth physics, the planet would be swallowed -- but these are comic book physics, where mini black holes are created all the time without the planet being destroyed. You can't measure Mata Nui by Earth science.

2) If Nuhvok Kal could do this, how would the Rahkshi match that in power?
Again, Nuhvok Kal was only able to do it because he lost control of his power -- it's not something he could choose to do, and it certainly didn't work out too well for him, did it?

3) How did the Turaga find all of the peices to updat e the Matoran?
I believe the Matoran rebuild themselves with solid protodermis, which has been mined for ages in Onu-Koro.

4) Will the Exo's ever come back?
I don't know... maybe. They are pretty trashed right now, though, so unless they have self-repair circuits...

Then i have a few questions not related with the update.

5) Can you tell me if the kanohi were created underground while the rest of underground Mata Nui was being constructed?
Nope, I can't.

6) Is all of underground Mata Nui conected by tunnels?
Some is... but some of the tunnels are blocked or sealed off.

7) If the ToL's staff fire's balls of light, does Makuta's staff shoot null energy to cancel out ToL's energy?
Makuta transforms light to shadow, just as the TOL transforms shadow to light.

8) Is the combo of Makuta and ToL good or bad?
You'll have to wait and see -- I can't reveal movie plot.

9) Are there other lairs of evil beings underground Mata Nui?
Don't know. It's possible.

10) Will we ever see enemies more powerful than the Rahkshi?
Well, we are doing a very radical new direction next year, and there will be a few different types of new enemies... I would say eventually, you will, yes, but not right away or exactly the same kind. We are trying to slow the story down a little next year to give an opportunity for more depth.

Thanks!

P.S. Is there anything that i could do for you since you always answer my questions right away?

Not that I can think of.
Bionicle#1
Here's my second post.

QUOTE
Hi, I just have a couple questions.

1) Would the Bohrok Kal be able to control the power given to them by the Toa Nuva if they were in kaita form?
No, because each kaita would be carrying three symbols.

2) How does lego come up with the kaita forms? Do they have a plan first?
The figures are designed first, the alternate models are designed afterward.

3) Can you tell me what the Rahkshi kaita form is?
There are two different kaita forms, and one has been pictured in one of the BZPower articles already.

4) If seperated from their staffs, can the Rahkshi still use their powers?
Yes, but they would not be able to focus them.

5) If Vorahk would stink the power from a Toa Nuva, would it also stink up the kanohi's powers as well?
No.. it is not sucking the elemental power so much as the vital energy.

6) Will the Rahkshi Kaita be appearing in comics?
Probably not.

7) Do the Rahkshi Kaita have all the powers of their kraata combined (ex. more strength, speed, etc.)? Can the Rkaita use all thier powers at once?
Yes.

8) Why is Gurahk combining with Vorahk and Pahrahk instead of Korahk and Lehrahk(spell?)?
We decided to do something different.

9) What would happen to each individual Toa Nuva if their power went out of control?
Probably something bad.

10) What is your favorite rahkshi?
Probably Lerahk, because his power is very visual.

11) Why was comic 12 called Absolute power?(was it because of the Vahi?)
No, it was because the Kal were defeated by absolute power -- their energies combined with the Toa's.

12) Do the Rahkshi have a large amount of fighting skills?
They do some hand-to-hand in the movie, but when you have their powers, you don't really need to be martial artists.

Thank you for answering my questions!

QUOTE
Hey GregF, I have a couple of questions on the Rahkshi and was wondering if you could answer them.

1) In comic twelve, it showed the Rahkshi breaking out of something made of glass. Was Makuta keeping them in glass chambers while they were evolving from kraata?
They are in special tubes.

2) Which Rahkshi is the most powerful?
I don't know that any one is more powerful than the others -- they are all very powerful, in different ways.

3) In the comic, can the Rahkshi's backs be opened?
It is possible to do that, yes, because that is how you get the kraata into the Ussanui.

4) Can you heal someone who has been infected with Lerahk's posion?
Yes.

5) Can Lerahk's posion kill matoran or just plant life?
Well, it can definitely turn plant life toxic.. but I don't know that it would kill a Matoran or just make him really sick.

6) Were the Rahkshi created in the lair of Makuta(where the Toa defeated him) or in another secret place?
Nope, same lair.

7) On the Rahkshi canisters, does it tell you the exact power of the kraata?
No -- the kraata don't have individual powers like krana do.

This is just one question about underground Mata Nui.

8) Is the underground of Mata nui just around the island or throughout the entire planet?
No, it does not run throughout the entire planet.

Thanks Gregf for answering my questions.

I only asked him one question and that was:LL "Is the planet that Mata Nui is on in this universe or in a different one?"

The gray Hau has the same powers as a regular Hau does. When it is not being worn, a Kanohi mask turns gray.

QUOTE

Hey Greg, here's a few questions that intrigue me. And keep me awake. Sometimes Bionicle's too mysterious... Can I have some sleep, please? I was wondering mainly about the past.

1. Were the Kanohi made on Mata-Nui?
Not on the island, no. You will find out how they were made next year.

2. When the Matoran came, did others choose to stay at their previous position?
No

3. Were they forced to move by disaster and such, or choice?
Again, the answer is part of the 2004 storyline.

4. Did they know where they were going?
Yes

5. Are the Turaga older than the other Matoran?
Not necessarily.. just wiser and more experienced

6. You said one person didn't make all Kanohi, but what about one people?
Yes, I would say one people would be closer to the truth

7. Were there other Turaga in the past?
Yes

8. Can anyone make a Kanohi?
I would say.... no. Making a mask is a skill... like making a stained-glass window or a work of art, but more dangerous. So even if I gave some Matoran the right materials and the right tools, he might not be able to do it.

9. Did the person/people who made the Kanohi make the Bohrok/ Bahrag?
I would guess no.

10. Was what is now underground (Mangaia) always underground?
Well, it has always been beneath the surface of Mata Nui, yes.

11. Did the person/people who made the Toa make the Bahrag/ Bohrok?
Don't know the answer to that one.

12. How exactly were the Kal mutated? What energies?
It was a combination of protodermis and energies unique to the Bahrag.

13. Can Mata Nui awake on his own?
No.

14. Where was the Void created, or did it create?
Don't know.

15. What could Makuta protect the Matoran from? What does he do to protect them?
He is not protecting the Matoran, really... although he sees it that way. For reasons you will learn in the future, he wants them to stay above-ground... so a lot of what has he has done has been designed to keep them up there.

16. Why did Makuta reduce the Matoran's size and power?
To discourage them from going underground.

17. Did the Matoran come to the island in the Before Time?
No, after the before time.

18. Did the Matoran bring the Rahi and flora to Mata Nui?
The Rahi appeared on Mata Nui at roughly the same time the Matoran did. The flora was already there

19. Where is/are the person/people that made the masks, made the Bohrok/Bahrag, and/or made the Toa? What happened to them? Will they return? Is it a person or a people?
Can't answer that, too tied in to future storyline.

20. Do you know the wal of History's writings? Can you tell to us what you can of them?
The Wall of History is where Takua chronicles the legends of the Toa. So you have basically been reading the stories that make up the Wall of History for the last few years.

-All thanks,
Imperial Gahlok-Kal

That's what I got in a round of questions about a week ago.
reptilia28
Here are yet some more questions from Greg...

QUOTE
QUOTE
Here are some more questions that have been nagging me.
----

1. Does the fact that Takutanuva looks like Makuta with longer arms and horns mean anything in the storyline? And that the designers aren't very creative? rolleyes.gif
Don't judge Takutanuva until you see the movie. For one thing, Takutanuva's mask in the movie is half Mask of Shadows, half Mask of Light. The movie was designed after the toys, which is why the toy looks different.

2. Do you ever engage in a normal conversation in BZPower?
Such as?

3. How long will Graalok's role be?
She has a cameo.

4. Why was the bottom of Takua's mask whacked off? So his neck could move?
So his jaw could move.

5. The pic of the Kohlii team on the front page features shields? How dangerous IS this sport?
Well, you have a kolhii ball flying around at high speeds, so it can get pretty dangerous.

6. Is the 'hockey puck' that comes in the Kohlii stick in the Matoran '03 sets the new Kohlii ball?
Yes.

7. Can the Kohlii stick be used as a weapon? Because one end looks like a hammer.
Any tool can be a weapon, if you hold it right.

8. When Takua was holding the Avohkii to his face in the MoL trailer, was he trying to read the script? Or was he trying to put it on?
He was trying to read the inscription.

9. Earlier belief was that whomever donned the Kanohi Avohkii would be instantaneously transformed into the Toa of Light. Now, what would happen had someone other than Takanuva put the Avohkii on?
Nothing. It only works for the one it is destined to work for. Like the sword in the stone.

10. Is there anything that goes on someone's face that a Kraata CAN'T infect?
Not that we have seen yet.

11. Has any of the 'intelligent' minions ever thought of rebellion? Because the Kal could do quite a bit of damage on their own. They could probably just leave the Bahrag be and rule Mata Nui on their own, because they seem perfectly capable of thinking for themselves.
No. As screwed up as it is sometimes, Mata Nui has a very orderly system. Everything has a purpose and a destiny.

12. Will Takanuva stay in one specific village? Or will he become a traveler?
I doubt he will be in one koro, but that will be his decision.

13. How many Kraata is needed to power the Ussanui?
I believe there are slots for five on the model.

14. After the Ussanui is powered, does it fly towards Makuta on its own? Or is it controlled by a driver?
It homes in on its own.

15. If I was a Kraata, and I was booted out of my Rahkshi home, the first thing I would do would probably infect the first mask I see. And since you said that the Kraata were like fast snakes, would the Toa need quick reflexes to fight a Kraata?
Yup.

16. Do you ever go anywhere besides Storylines and Theories?
Not all that often.

17. What is the Makuta/Gukko/Pewku combiner on the back of the Makuta box at the Toy Fair? Because I could have sworn I saw a thing with gigantic claws on the back of the box, but I just can't seem to find it...
I call it "Makuta Nui." It's just a more fearsome shape of Makuta.

18. Which way is the Makuta set's head SUPPOSED to be? Vertical? Or horizontal?
Not sure there is a "supposed" to be... this is LEGO, after all, you build it the way it works best for you.

19. Will we learn who created the Kanohi next year?
Yes.

20. So far, the powers of the characters seem to be following a pattern. The Toa, it was the elements of nature. For the Kal, it was things to do with physics. For the Rahkshi, it has something to do with destruction. Is this planned? Or are the creators just throwing in random powers and getting lucky?
No, we plan out the powers in the story meetings. There are some new powers and some old powers next year, and we chose the new ones from a long list and picked what made the most sense for what we wanted to do.

21. Why was the '05 movie bumped again? I don't remember off the top of my head.
We changed our plans a bit and decided we needed a stronger script for a full-screen movie. Also, it takes a longer time to make a movie for the big screen.

22. Will Takanuva wake up with the necessary stuff already in his head? Or will it take time for him to remember?
No, he pretty  much knows what he has to do.

Thanks for your time, Greg.

Hello Mr. Farshtey.  I have a couple of questions. If youre not too buisy  .

1: If the BZPers had never wanted to see the vahi in the comics, would you still have put it in there? If not how were the toa going to defeat the bohrok-kal?
GregF:Probably not. But the Vahi only slowed them down a little, it was the will of the Toa that really defeated them.

2: Is Takanuva male? Or female?
GregF: He's male.

3:Will we ever get to see another Great Being??
GregF:No idea.

4: How did the toa build the Ussanui?
GregF:I actually asked that question last week. It is built from Bohrok and Rahkshi parts.

5: Is Takanuva a new character or an old one?
GregF:Can't answer it.

6: Will any of the toa ever die?
GregF:No idea what may happen going forward.

7: Will there ever be more Turaga?
GregF:Possibly, not sure.

Thank you for taking your time to answer my questions    Bio nuva.

well i got some qestion's for the new set's
1. how does takanuva know how to build the ussanui?
As far as I know, he simply has the knowledge. There is no scene in the film indicating anyone else told him.

2.you said that the ussanui is built from rahkshi and bohrok part's well it also has lewa nuva's sword's and pohatu nuva's clew's do they give takanuva their wepon's or is it like all the set's just so it could look better?
No, the Toa do not give up their tools.

3.when the rahkshi will return in 2004 will they be diffrent kind's of rahkshi or the same one's?
Can't answer that at this time.

4. i know that makuta is the big evil gay and evrything but when takanuva kill's his sons does he get sad?
Takanuva does not kill the Rahkshi.. Rahkshi armor is not alive. And there is no killing in BIONICLE.

5. can makuta get stronger then his new form and if he can why doesnt he use it against takanuva?
I have no idea if there is a limit to how strong Makuta can become. But I assume he challenges Takanuva at the level of power he deems appropriate.

6. will the tol\makuta fuison last long or only for a few minute's?
Watch and see... can't answer movie plot questions.

7. if it will last long will takanuva and makuta ever split apart?
See question 6.

8. ok i ask't you this before but i need to ask again can takanuva's power work on anybody except makuta and the rahkshi?
Sure it can.

9. in 2004 will we see another six set's like the toa, bohrok, toa nuva, bohrok kal, rahkshi? and will they be new rahkshi?
Can't answer 2004 questions, sorry.

10. all the set's that were suppose to be releist(sp) in agust were releist erly so will the tru takutanuva be also releist erly?
No idea.

11. you always say that allot of new thing we wil lern about in 2004 so will the 2004 storyline be more for lerning the history or will it still have allot of action?
well that's all i have to ask thank you very very much

It will be both.

tahu3220
Hy Greg, I'm sorry that I have so many questions, but I think this lot will sum them up for a while. Thank you.

1. Will Takua continue to explore Mati Nui in the future story line?
Future story will be focusing a bit more on the Turaga than the Matoran...

2. In comic 12 it said that the Toa Nuva had much to think about. What are they thinking about?
The fact that they have been fighting and it made them vulnerable.

3. Does the Mask Of Light movie have ANY Matrix like action, you know, lets say where a Toa Nuva hits a Rahksi and the camera slows down and spins around the Rahksi in slow motion and then speeds up again. Or somthing like that. I ask because people have been wandering about this in a topic over at the movies section.
Not that I know of, no... that really doesn't fit the way that things work on Mata Nui, and besides, it would so obviously be a rip-off of Matrix.

Thank you for your time.

I have an answer gregf gave me.

Me- In the comic makuta says.
go my sons my rahkshi and keep my brother asleep.
why is he sending them to keep his brother asleep if thier mission is to stop the comming of the seventh toa.

Greg- takanuva is heckbent on awakening mata-nui
and he knows alot about the past possibly even where mata-nui is. but i cant tell you if he does that would spoil it.

greg

What does heckbent mean? Cause I PMed him one time and asked him what all of the toas destinyies were and he out this:

Tahu,Pohatu,Lewa,Onua,Kopaka, and Gali's destinies are to awaken mata-nui, while takanuva's is to defeat makuta.
Crystal Matrix
1. What is the purpose of the grey Hau on the Ussanui? Personally, I think it represents the Stone Hau that signifies Mata Nui in Makuta's lair. Or is it just for decoration and it is grey because it is not being worn?
Exactly what the purpose of it is, I do not know, although I have my suspicions (which I cannot share because they are related to the movie). But yes, it would be gray because it is not being worn.

2. I am just curious... when will you have the Kraata color list and the "Unknown Rahkshi Power list?" I understand you're a busy guy, but...

3. Now that I bring up busy, have you done anything with the Bahrag-Krana production thing yet?
I have received the color list, I have to check with the web people to see if they want to put it up first. As for the rest of the stuff, I really can't give you a time estimate.. I am buried in 2004-2005 right now, so getting the story team to focus on a 2002 issue is not very easy.

4. What is the purpose of the Kodan Ball that Pohatu Nuva can form? Is it like a Kolhii ball deluxe or what?
Don't know enough to answer.

5. Does the Gukko bird have 4 wings? Because it has two obvious wings and then these smaller little wings underneath. I mean, 4 wings?
No, I believe that what you are seeing as a second set of wings are its legs.

6. How does a Toa control the Exo-Toa armor? Is it psychic links or something, because the arms don't move while the Exo-Arms do.
Again, all I could do is speculate. My guess would be it would be a mental connection, but I cannot say offically. It may work more on the lines of an exo-skeleton, where slight muscle movement by the occupant produces much more extreme movement in the armor.

7. You said that there were other Turaga in the past. Are they still on Mata Nui? Did they become Matoran form again? Who were they?
Can't answer it.

8. Will the wall of history be put online through Bionicle.com, or the MNOLG?
Don't know, offhand. I have heard various possibilities.

9. I know you have been getting quite a few PMs, and stupid questions about such a petty thing... but where is the Kolhii Comet seller now? Is he in Po-Koro now, or is he hiding? Will we ever see him again?
I can't answer that, because there may be plans for him down the road.

10. In the movie, when Takanuva uses his light powers, does it go sparkly white on the Mask?
Don't recall.

11. How exactly do you cleanse an Infected Mask?
As I have said, there is no official answer for this. But my belief is that it is similar to the healing done by the Toa Nuva in the movie... it requires a combination of powers.

12. How did Nuparu "reprogram" the Bohrok? Was there like a keyboard in them that had functions and controls?
This is one of those things we prefer fans speculate on, than getting definitive answers from us.

13. If you were to insert a stage-seven Kraata into a Rahkshi, would it act with the powers of a sixth-stage Kraata?
No, it would act with the powers of a stage seven kraata.

14. Are there more uses with Protodermis than we've seen so far? If so, what are they? So far I have construction, "rebuild" Matoran, destiny transformation and Kraata-to-Rahkshi.
I am sure there are dozens of uses for it.

15. Who hid the Kanohi all over Mata-Nui? The creators?
Can't answer it.

16. When we will we start seeing images of the '05 movie?
No idea.

17. IS the Gukko Bird an aged Kewa? Or a completely redesigned Kewa and we'll never see normal one again? Because that is one radical change, the 4 wings and the tail and... well, everything.
I have no idea if it is aged or a different subspecies. If that has been discussed by the story team, I am not aware of it, so I do not know what the movie designers had in mind.

Here's some answers from GregF:

QUOTE
I hope you're not busy, just a couple questions.

1. Did the Bahrag create any more "mutated" Bohrok to save them, like the Kal?
No, just the Kal.

2. Did Levahk Kal survive being blasted into orbit? If so, Will he show up again?
You never know

3. Why didn't the Matoran reawaken the Bohrok, remove the Krana, and reprogram them, Since the Bahrag are still imprisoned?
I don't think the Matoran want to take the chance of messing with the Bohrok. Once was enough.

4. Were the Krana-kal mutated or specially bred by the Bahrag?
They were mutated.

5. Does Mnolg 2 begin before or after the Rahkshi are created?
My guess is the Rahkshi were created, but not activated yet, at the start of the game.

6. Does Mnolg 2 begin before, after or during MOL?
My understanding is it begins before, I believe, because Hahli spends part of it training for the kolhii match at the start of the film.

(off topic)
7. Do you write the Orient Expedition comics, cause I really like them!
Yes, I do.

Thank You so much, I hope I'm not bothering you!

Hey, Greg! I thunk up a few more questions, some inspired by all the new Summer sets I recently got!

1.) The Pewku/Gukko/Makuta combiner model is so cool!!! Will it ever be in the story, or is it like the Bahrag-spider, never to be used?
No plans for it to be in the new story, no.

2.) I got my new Matoran (Kopeke, Hewkii, etc.) in the mail, and I looked at the back of the box….. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Look at those ridiculous combiners!! What is that little thing, a giraffe?¿? Any way, do you have any story info on these?
Nope.

3.) About the Turaga… In the old days, they were bigger than the Matoran. It kind of gave them a sense of power, letting you know that they’re in charge. But now the Matoran are so big and bulky, it makes the Turaga seem dinky.
3a.) Will the Turaga build themselves up like the Matoran have?
3b.) Will this affect the story line at all?
No, and no, as far as I know. But the Turaga are supposed to be walking the path of wisdom, not physical power, so it makes sense they would be smaller than the Matoran. The Matoran have to fight, the Turaga don't.

4.) I read that the ToL won’t combine with the other Toa in the movie. But is it possible that he could? If so, in what way/form?
I suppose it's possible, but since he doesn't in the story, I have no idea what form that would take.

5a.) Lately, I’ve heard a lot of talk about possible Rahkshi “cameo” appearances in the future. My definition of a cameo is something hard to spot, like famous people playing as Jedi in the background of Attack of the Clones. Is this what you mean?
5b.) Or do you mean actually be in the plot a little?
Both.

6.) When a Kraata turns to stage 7, does it cease to be the breed of Kraata it was before? Like, if a Guurahk Kraata morphed to the 7th stage, would it be any different than a Panrahk 7th stage Kraata?
Yes, I think it would have to be.

7.) At the end of the Kal saga, about how many Shadow Kraata would you say exist on the island? (Either caught be the Turaga or roaming free?)
No idea.

8.) Does a Kraata have to be 6th stage to transform into Rahkshi armor?
No, a kraata can transform into Rahkshi armor at any stage.

9.) If #8’s answer is yes, then what would happen if a lesser stage Kraata interred Protodermus?

10.) You’ve said that something can only be transformed by Protodermus if it’s its destiny to me changed by it. But I thought any Kraata (at the right stage) could be turned in a Rahkshi. What’s up??
That is the destiny of a kraata. That is why they exist.

11.) Since Vohrak can stink the Toa’s elemental energies, can it steal other energies as well? For example, can it drain the energy from a Matoran or other creature?
Probably it could, yes.

12.) Does a Toa Kaita have all 3 Toa’s elemental powers? Because we’ve never seen them use any of them.
Yes, it does.

13.) You’ve said that Makuta created the Shadow Toa as kind of reflections of the Toa, only evil. So, did they ever really exist, of were they like ghost thingies?
Well, they did exist, but they were parts of the Toa given substance.

14.) Can you tell us: Is there some kind of relationship between Makuta’s and Takanuva’s staffs? (Because they’re the same shape.)
Nope, gotta wait for the movie.

15.) I’ve asked before, but you never really answered me… Do all Usslas grow to the huge size Pewku is in the movie? I doubt it, because at the beginning of the Kal saga, she’s her normal size. (In a Bionicle site update.)
I could speculate on this, but I don't have an official answer from the story team, so I'd rather not guess.

16.) Do Le and Onu Matoran participate in the Kohlii match? (I ask because there are no toys of them.)
Not in the movie, no.

17.) I know that in comic #11 there is a SEA of Tahnok behind Tahu. But in the Pahrak attack on Ga-Koro, I see like five Pahrak. Big deal, right? So, about how many individual Bohrok are in a swarm?
In a full swarm? Thousands. Hundreds of thousands. Maybe more.

18.) Which would be stronger: Lewa wearing a Pakari, or Lewa taken over by a Krana Su?
I would give the edge to the Pakari.

19.) I think I’ve asked this before, but I wasn’t satisfied with your answer. (No offense,  ) What is the purpose of the animals of Mata-Nui wearing masks?
19a.) If the mask is removed, does the animal become weak, like a Matoran?
19b.) You said that any animal CAN wear a mask… how would you outfit one with a mask?

Sorry you weren't satisfied with the answer. Again, I don't have an official canon answer from the story team, and I hesitate to speculate because then it winds up all over as official. So I really can't give you an answer.

20.) This isn’t Bionicle related, but… Do you like/Have you heard of Brian Setzer??? (He’s my favorite musician.  )
Nope.

21.) What’s your favorite beverage?
Why?

Thanks so very much!!!  ~bjj6

I like Diet Mt. Dew, myself..... unsure.gif

This is what I asked:

QUOTE
Hi GregF. I hope that you had a good time in L.A. Anyway, these are my questions:

1) Can you tell us where the manas came from?
No, not really.

2) Are the manas' strength and amazing stamina natural?
Yes, they are part of what they are.

3) Would the manas be able to defeat the Bohrok Kaita?
Hmmmm... well, I don't know. The Manas have to fight hand-to-claw, they don't have any ranged powers, and the Bohrok do have ranged powers. So if the Bohrok stayed away from them, they probably could do a lot of damage.

4) When I asked you if the exo-toa would appear in the storyline any more, you said no, unless they had self-repair circuts. Do the exo-toa really have repair circuts?
It might, who knows? I would love to see them come back. I have no doubt they will at least be seen in future storyline, but whether they will play an active role I do not know.

5) Are there any other special abilities of the exo-toa that we have not heard about?
Possibly.

6) Is there any way possible to use your elemental powers in the exo-toa?
No, not that I know of.

7) Is the combiner on the back of Makuta's box, the one you called Makuta Nui, more powerful than any Makuta we have seen, or just more ferocious?
I don't know that it is more powerful, but it is a lot more frightening!

8) Since Makuta is a god, why doesn't he just squash the Toa? The Toa are powerful, but they certainly aren't gods. Is it because Makuta doesn't want to waste his powers because of a much worse threat?
I don't see Makuta as a god.. he is just a really powerful being. And he has tried to crush them before, and failed. I think you also have to keep in mind what an ego Makuta has.. no matter how big of a threat the Toa might, he doesn't really believe they can stop him.

9) Does Mata Nui have his own mask (like Makuta)?
Can't answer it.

10) Will Takanuva need to collect the other twelve kanohi masks of power?
No. All he uses is the Mask of Light.

11) Are the six new kanohi that the Toa Nuva will collect more powerful than their current masks?
The Toa Nuva masks are somewhat more powerful, and also their power can be shared with those around you.

12) Just out of curosity, what is your favorite enemy in Bionicle?
Favorite enemy? Well, Makuta is cool.. the Rahkshi are visually the best.. and I like the Kal too, because they talk.

Thank You!!

P.S. Did you have a good time in L.A.?

It was okay, but very tiring.

Oh, yea. *sings* 1,000,000 containers of Bohrok on the wall, 1,000,000 containers of Bohrok. Take one down, pass it around, 999,999 containers of Bohrok on the wall. biggrin.gif rolleyes.gif

Hi, I hope you had a good time in L.A.
Well, I've got 3 questions, this is my first time to send any, so I hope I'm doing good

1.) Has a shadow Kraata a different shape, like the other stages?
I have not seen the design yet, so I can't really answer.

2.) In the MoL movie, do you recognize the characters staight away?
I hope so smile.gif

3.) Which Rahkshi do you think is physically the strongest?
Oh, that is a good one... my guess is they are of equal strength in hand-to-hand combat. I would give an edge to Vorahk in such a case, though, because he can drain your energy while you fight.. but in the movie, they are all physically quite powerful.

Well, I hope that you get some answers outta this laugh.gif

NKO
~M~
How are Pohatu’’s claws going to work in the MoL? Will he grab the claws, or use them as
hands?
I know he throws them, that is all I can tell you.

Although evil, Makuta is really doesn’’t appear to be very intelligent. For example, he could have
sent out about fifty Rahkshi to keep the Toa from finding Takanuva, but he only used six. Is this
because he is not very smart, or is it due to his great amount of pride?
Makuta only produces six Rahkshi because a) he can only produce so many kraata at one time,
and the Rahkshi kick the Toas' butt from one end of the island to the other. Six is plenty when you
are that powerful.

At the end of the MoL, is Makuta done with? I mean, you talked about the Toa not being able to
wake Mata Nui after the MoL because they didn’’t know how, but that must mean that Makuta is
defeated forever!
Can't answer it.

Next year, when you are focusing on the history of the Matoran, are you going to make new sets,
and re-release old ones? Like re-releasing the Turaga, and coming out with Matoran like Lhii the
Surfer?
It will be all new sets next year.

Is Lhii going to be an actual character, and play a part in the storyline next year, or was he merely
a thought that was in the conceptual story bible?
I can't answer 2004 story questions at this point.

If Lhii is going to be a character, will he still be alive, and be like a Ta-Matoran in the MNOLG2,
or will he be dead, and be talked about when reviewing Matoran history?
Same answer as above.

How is a Kanohi made?
You will find out next year.

Personally, I want to congratulate LEGO on focusing on the Matoran and their history. I always
thought that the villagers should get a storyline of their own. One question: what are you going
to do about the whole Matoran/Tohunga bit? I mean, you can’’t just ignore the fact that they were
once called Tohunga, but you can’’t call them that. Will it be like, Matoran used to be their name,
and then when Makuta made them less powerful, they called themselves Tohunga, and then re-
adopted the name Matoran?
Unfortunately, we are just going to have to plow through the issue, because we cannot use the
word Tohunga ever again. So we are probably just going to have to proceed as if Tohunga was
never used.

If Vorahk steals, say, Tahu's power, will
a) Vorahk have the powers indefinitely, and
will Tahu regain them naturally?
Tahu will regain them naturally, and Vorahk only has the energy for a limited time.

1. It has been said that the Masks of Victory have no powers, but the card says they do. Could
you clarify this?
As far as I have been told, they do not. If they do, it is at extremely low levels.

2. Will the Masks of Victory ever be shown in the storyline? It would be cool if in the MoL
movie, the winning Kolhii team got Masks of Victory.
They might show up someday, but they are not in the movie.

3. When a Matoran gets a Mask of Victory, how often does he wear it? Does it replace his normal
Kanohi?
No, it doesn't replace his Kanohi as far as I know. It is like a trophy.

4. I just noticed that the only Toa/Turaga/Matoran we have seen are from Ga-Koro, Ta-Koro,
and Po-Koro. Is this because those are the only villages in the Kolhii match?
Yes.

5. In the pic recently shown on BZP of six Matoran lining up with Kolhii Staves and Shields, are
these the only Matoran in the Kolhii match, 2 from each village?
Yes.

6. Who is the farthest right Po-Matoran in the said picture? I can recognize Hahli, Macku, Jaller,
Takua, and Hewkii, I just can't see who the other one is.
I think it's Hafu, as I recall.

On the LEGO shop website, it says Takanuva carries the Kolhii Staff of Light! What's up
with that? Is that the name of his weapon? I thought Kolhii staves were those little silver
fishing nets the Matoran used for Kolhii, not Takanuva's weapon!

Mark

Mark,

It will make sense when you see the movie.

Greg

1) Are the style of the Toa in MoL very similar to the style of the Toa Nuva in the Bionicle PC/PS2/GC game?
No, I don't think so, but I have not played the game yet.

2) Who is your favorite Toa?
Kopaka.

3) Can there be more than 6 Turaga at a time, or can a Matoran become a Turaga only if the Turaga from its koro is dead?
Don't know.

4) Can Kraata infect a mask, or a person? Meaning, can someone get an infected mask from the touch of a Kraata, or does the Kraata have to stay on the person for that person to be infected?
Kraata infect masks, not living beings.

5) Do the Turaga have all of their Noble Masks?
Yes.

6) Will we ever learn more about the time period between when Mata Nui came and Makuta put him to sleep?
Yes, eventually.

Thanks a ton!!!
Nebula
Hi Greg, I forgot to put up one more question, hope you don't mind.

Will the other books focus on Mata Nui, or possibly other islands/heroes/inhabitants etc. I'd only need yes or no, pleeeaaaase ?

Sorry, can't answer questions on future storyline at this point.. would blow the end of the movie.

Greg

Well guys, you can't say I haven't tried. I could have edited my last post, but I found this quite the important question. So this proves a second time that on the end of the MoL movie, the 2004 story line is begun, and that that final part is rather exciting, seeing as it would blow the end of the movie, it must be more exciting then Takanuva VS. Makuta, right?

Hello Greg! More questions here....

QUOTE

In addition to the powers of anger, fear, and poison, it is able to transform itself into a living cyclone!

(The quote's from Lego Shop@Home site, for the Rahkshi Za Kaita kit.)
1a.) Is this true? (The Cyclone power, that is.)
1b.) What can the other Kaita do?

Yes, it is true. The other Kaita is able to take the energy that it absorbs and release it as a blast.

2.) In the upcoming Bionicle video game, Onua Nuva still has his Olda claws. (Yay!! ) Is this how it was always meant to be? (It just couldn't work on the toys or something?)

No, the toys are designed the way they were meant to be designed. I assume they have it set up so that he has the claws when he is not wearing the quake-breakers, so he can pick stuff up.

3.) I know the Bahrag don't "lay" Bohrok eggs, so... is there a real reason why they look like Giant Mutant Death Chickens From Heck??
Just how they were designed, my friend.

Thanks! ~bjj6
~Anarchy~
OK, I have some questions well here you go

1)Does the "Takutanuva" set just a set where you buy both Makuta and Takanuva in a combo pack?Or just parts for just Takutanuva?
It has both sets.

2)What is the difference between the regular and movie Kraakan?
Just the shape.

3)If a "misprint" Kraata were put in Potodermis(sp?) it would turn into a Rahkshi with new powers? If so why did Makuta pick these Rahkshi?
Yes. Because he felt these six Rahkshi were the best suited to get the job done.

4)Will there be any more sets with masks?
Yes, eventually.

5)Does the Ussanui only need one kraata to run?Or one from each Rahkshi?
I believe the model has five slots on it for kraata, although you only see one put in in the movie.

6)Does the Hau on the Ussanui use the sheilding power? If so why isn't it a Hau Nuva?
No it doesn't. Mask powers can only be used if worn, and Ussanui is not a living being.

Thank you for your time.

Hey Greg, I was wondering, you said the Ussanui was made of Rahkshi parts. So did the Toa Nuva have to beat the Rahkshi before building the Ussanui?

Kinda hard to get the parts any other way, right? smile.gif

O.K, I've got an answer to a question. I don't know if it will be any use, but here it is-
Me: Hi.
I've wondering about this question for ages, and I wondered if you could give me the answer.
Are the Toa, Matoran, Turaga e.t.c actually supposed to be living? I mean, if they were, how could they rebuild themselves, like the Toa do when they first arrive on the island?
However, are they supposed to look like robots? I don't really think that they could be robots, because why would they be surprised when they discover that the Bohrok are?

Thanks for reading this,

Toa of Armoured Light

GregF: Well, I don't really want to go into the exact nature of what they are... but in the movie, they have both a mechanical and a biological component, and I have always seen them as being bio-mechanical myself.

1. Why did Kopeke's mask change from a Komau to a Ruru in the"upgrade?"
I am waiting for an answer from Denmark on this.

2. Have you gotten the Kraata color list yet? I am very anxious to see it since I just got 10 tubs of Kraata.
Yes, but I am waiting to find out if BIONICLE.com plans to post it. I also don't want to release it until I have a power list done.

3. Does the end of the movie introduce the storyline for 2004? You have hinted this several times.
It certainly points in the general direction, yes.

4. What is the name of these two guys? One looks like a camel, and one looks like a four-armed Matoran Kiata.
There are no names in existence for them at this time.

These will be the last questions for a while. tongue.gif

With "misprint Rahkshi" I mean Kraata from one of the oddball species dipped into protodermis.

1.) Are the cameo of "misprint" Rahkshi speculation by members, or a planned storytwist?
I expect to see Rahkshi popping up in the future, that's all I can tell you.

2.) Can you share any info about what category (note: Elements, emotions etc.) of powers the "misprint Rahkshi have?
No, power list isn't done yet.

3.)Is, in Mask of Light, Takanuva also taking on Rahkshi, or are the Toa in full charge of that?
They both do.

4.) I'd like to know if the Matoran name changes were because of Maori language, or because of a storyline idea?
They were for legal reasons, but not necessarily related to the Maori. We are trying to avoid terms used in any language as much as possible, unless they are really common names.

5.) Will the Matoran fight the Rahkshi?
Only if they want to get beaten.

Thanks alot in advance!

Well, that are some quite interesting answers.

I have some more questions I'd like you to answer.

1. Other then Gali and Lewa, whose masks are nesseccary to their elements, why did each Toa start out with the mask powers they did? Was it intended, or random?

I really can't say why the Toa were assigned the masks they were assigned, I didn't work here at the time BIONICLE was first being designed.

2. Could Lehrahk control the strengh of its poison?

Yes.

3. We know that the Makuta knows about the Bohrok and Bahrag, so do the Bahrag know/care about Makuta?

No, most likely not.

4. Other than elevation, traction and temperature, is there any reason that only half the villages are represented in this Kolhii tournament?

No -- and the three reasons you cited don't play a part either. Put simply, a tournament with six teams would have been really confusing to put on film. So it's quite likely that Ko-Koro, Le-Koro, and Onu-Koro were scheduled to play the next match after the one depicted in the film, or had already played.

5. Where do the Kaitas put their extra parts? Example: in the MNOLG1, when the Kaitas were separated, Pohatu had his arms, but they are not on the Kaita.

My guess would be the retrieval would be part of the process of merging/splitting apart. I can't give you a hard science explanation for it.

6. Pics suggest that Pohatu loses his distinctive...err... shape in the game and movie. Why, why, why???

What shape are you talking about?

7. How come, in the game, it looks like all the Toa have the same eye colour? Kopaka and Onua don't look good in yellow.

My guess is it is a way to make the eyes stand out more on the screen.

8. You said new masks in '04. Do they have new powers, or just new shapes?

Both, sort of.

9.

Can't answer it.
Is that copyrighted?

No, but it should be.

10. Is it your decision on what to tell us, someone else's, or both combined?

Nobody is leaning over my shoulder, but it is basically common sense. I know I am not allowed to divulge movie plot or what happens in the story after the movie, so I simply don't answer anything on those topics. The same rule applies to everyone associated with BIONICLE, the people on the truck tours, etc.

On the Makuta set, the 2 Pohatu Nuva claws on the back of his legs are supposed to move up and down. Because on the front cover it shows arrows pointing up and down and shows them moving up and down. Do you know why they are supposed to do this?

Nope, sorry, I don't.

Greg

Are the Kanohi like the rings in the Lord of the Rings? Like only certain people can make them, and they choose who gets them. Is it an art, like the certain design will have that one power. If someone made a Hau design, no flaws or anything would it automatically get the Power of shielding? And is there a mask to rule them all?

No, I don't believe they are like that. Creating masks certainly is an art, and not everyone can do it. But I do not believe the people who make them choose who gets them, and probably other people could learn the skill if need be. But you will learn all about how masks are made in 2004.

Does Takanuva have all the Kanohi?

No. He only uses the Mask of Light.

Greg

Does a mask become like the users face? Can He/she take it off with ease, but when it is forced off it rips off?

No, a mask is a mask. The face is underneath.

Greg

But how does it stick to the face?

BIONICLE faces are intended to be able to wear masks. I would assume it fits into slots on their faces.

Greg

That sounds sick, do you know when the next update of the MNOLG 2 will be? I think it will be July 13, that is the next full moon. The Matoran keep saying Nokama will come back on the next full moon.

No sicker than masks glued on their faces and then ripped off, right?

I don't know the answer on MNOLG2, I don't work on that. My understanding is that the updates are supposed to be monthly, but I do now know if that is still the plan.

Greg

Okay, thanks for all the help!

Well, good thought, MU .. because parts of the Rahkshi are used to build the Ussanui, so the answer is yes.

My cat's name is Mr. Kitty.

1 - Does the TRU Takutanuva Kit comes with...

The 2 sets (Makuta & Takanuva) separate and the special mask?

or...

The pieces needed for Takutanuva (e.g No Ussanui)?

Thanks!

It is both sets, plus special mask.

Hi Greg! It's a boring summer day.... Nobody to talk to... So I read and re-read all the Bionicle comics and watched most of the clips on the website. While doing this a few itsy-bitsy questions popped into my ol' noggin.

1.) In comic #1, Nuju speaks to Kopaka directly. I thought Matoro had to translate...?
No, Nuju is perfectly capable of speech. He just doesn't choose to speak most of the time. In that particular case, matters were sufficiently urgent that he chose to speak.

2.) Is the Nui-Rama nest we see in the MNOLG1 the only nest on the island? (It IS a pretty big nest.)
Oh, I doubt.. I am sure there are more.

3.) At the end of Comic #1, where exactly IS that where the Toa are gathered?
I don't know, I didn't have a specific location in mind when I wrote it. It's just supposed to be a clearing.

4.) Why are they gathered there? Is this the Turaga's doing, or a chance meeting?
Chance meeting.

5.) Does one type of Rahi wear only one type of mask? For example, do all Nui-Jaga wear Pakaris? Do all Kane-Ra wear Hunas?
Well, in general, that is how they have been depicted. However, since they can't use the mask powers, they could theoretically wear any mask.

6.) Were the Copper Victory masks made by the people who made the Toa's masks, or the islanders? What about the Matoran's and Rahi's masks?
All masks came from the same source, which you will discover next year.

7.) In the scene where Takua witnesses the Bohrak awake, he escapes by means of that funky buble thing. (That was MIGHTY convenient. wink.gif ) Can you share any details on the purpose of this, etc?
No, afraid not. I didn't have anything to do with writing that.

8.) I recall you saying that the "Tahu Krana-ed" scene happenes when they're all in the nest, like around Comic #7. But then... why are the Lehvak Va carring the Gold Hau in Comic #5?
That is Lewa's Hau.

9.) In comic #5, Kopaka arrives in Ta-Koro and tells Tahu about "The Darkest Secret of ALL!!"  Uh... what secret was this, exactly?
The fact that the Bohrok are not invaders from somewhere else, they come from within Mata Nui.

10.) You said that a Bohrok swarm contains thousands, maybe hundreds of thousands of Bohrok. BUT, you've also said some Bohrok were kept in reserve. So my question is... How many bohrok were released on the island when Makuta set them free? (I ask because, well, I mean come ON, 4 or 5 Pahrak attacking Ga-Koro??)
I don't have a specific number. But keep this in mind -- the Bohrok were not supposed to be freed when there were living things on the island. They weren't design to lay siege to active villages. Mountains and rivers don't fight back, so why would you need more than a squad to deal with any one given area?

11.) When the Mysterious People built the Exo-Toa, did they KNOW it would hinder the Toa's elemental powers?
I am sure they did.

12.) Do the Bahrag's antennae serve the same porpose as normal insect's?
Can't say for sure.

13.) Is there anything you can tell us about the wall in comic #7 that is solid, but doen't exist? (Or is it not worth mentioning?)
It's an illusion. It seems solid if you believe it is solid.. what else do you want to know?

14.) Do you consider the Toa's Nuva transformation the end of chapter 2, or the beginning of chapter 3?
Never thought about it.

15.) The Toa lose their elemental power's when thier symbol's are taken out of their Koro, right? Well.... why do they regain their powers in comic 12, when thier symbols are still outside the Koros?
They regain their powers because the symbols are back in their possession. They do not have to be physically in the koro to work.

16.) On the on-line updates, Jala and Takua are with the Toa on their search for th Bohrok Kal. Where did they go, they're not there in comic #10!
I generally do not go into Matoran a lot in the comic.. the comic is about the adventures of the Toa, the web focuses more on the Matoran.

17.) In an on-line update, Vakama comsults the Sacred Fire (I think that's what it's called...) to find out about the Kal. Can you tell us more about how this Fire works, etc?
Nope.

18.) So the Bohrok are all asleep again, right? Well, what about all those Tahnok that Nuhvok Kal sent into orbit? Are they still there, or what?
Yes.

19.) In coimic #12, Kopaka makes an Ice Stair-case so the Toa can acend back to the surface. In comic #8, they ascend using their Kanohi. Wouldn't Kanohi be easier and faster than an ice-stair-case?
But if you had lost your elemental powers, wouldn't you want to do something cool with them to test and make sure they are working right?

Thanks so much!!!!!  ~bjj6

Question:
QUOTE
When it comes to the Avokhii, Kraakhan, and Vahi...are those Kanohi Nuva...or Kanohi of the original Toa?

Answer:
QUOTE
As far as I know, they are not Nuva masks -- Nuva masks are existing masks morphed by protodermis, and that has not happened in any of these cases. The Vahi I know for certain is not Nuva, and I strongly suspect that is also the case here. Also, there is no evidence in any of the uses of these masks I have seen that the power has ever been shared with anyone else, which is the primary feature of Nuva masks.

So it looks like the Avohkii, Vahi, and Kraakhan are NOT Nuva Kanohi. As a Kanohi Nuva is defined by the ability to share powers, as well as being created by a regular Kanohi dipped in Protodermis.

Some more answers from Greg

QUOTE
Hello again Greg,

I've got a few more questions and I would appreciate it if you could answer them.

1) The void was created by Makuta or has it always been on Mata-Nui?
Don't know.

2) The void, shouldn't it be just empty, nothing I mean there dozens of parts flying around it shouldn't they dissapear in the void?
Again, I don't know. Details on the void are something that the story team have not related to me yet. It is probably coming up later in the story.

3) About that stone hau in Makuta's lair that represents Mata-Nui (when you said that you really have set something in motion.) is it completely made out of stone cause in the trailer of MoL the eyes are glowing?
Far as I know, it is stone.

4) Another question about that hau (if you can answer it). Why is it a hau representing Mata-Nui.
No idea... that came from the head of the story team, in conjunction with the movie designers. But keep  in mind that the mask used for advertising all along in BIONICLE has always been the Hau, so it must have some significance.

5) I know it isn't your field but since someone else already asked and you said you were going to ask. (correct me if I am wrong) When is the next update of the MNOLG2 going to come?
Haven't received an answer yet.

6) Is there a chance that you'll ever come to Belgium rolleyes.gif  .
No trips there planned that I know of  smile.gif

Thanks for reading these questions.
Crystal Matrix
1. Are widgets(the MNOLG2 currency) made from Protodermis? Because in the lexicon it says protodermis is used as currency but we haven't seen it used that way yet.
Almost everything is made of protodermis.

2. How did the Protodermic Cage that is trapping the Bahrag come to be? I have heard that the combining of the Toa's elements did that, but wouldn't it have done that against Makuta too?
No, because when they struck at Makuta, each Toa used his powers, but the powers were not cimbined into one beam. That was what formed the protodermis.

3. Relating to question 2, if it was a yes, why do elements clashing cause Protodermis? Is Protodermis made of Fire, Air, Water, Stone, etc?
We haven't revealed what protodermis is made of, because the Matoran don't know either.

4. Was Protodermis the cause of the Bohrok-to-Kal transformation? Or was it something else?
Partially, but not totally.

5. Are members allowed to give you ideas for the Kraata powers that you are working on? Or is it like epics, where you can't recieve fan-related ideas? Because I have a couple of good ideas on that subject.
At this point, I prefer not to take outside ideas.

6. Any update on Kopeke's mask change from Denmark?
No.

7. I'm just curious, what is the Mask of Light.com future game about? Are you like the Toa Nuva and have to battle the Rahkshi or something?
No, it has to do with Matoran trying to find a place of safety for the rest of the villagers.

8. Do you have any idea what the next Flash Update on Bionicle.com will be about?
No, I don't work on those.
Stargate SG-1
i ask him one it was this

Hey sorry if i disturbed you but i have a question

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=What is the mask made out of wood, steel? I though they could of been made out of protodermis? is that true?

thanks for you time

I don't know of any masks made out of wood or steel -- steel does not even exist on Mata Nui, because iron does not exist either. All Kanohi masks are made out of protodermis.

Here are the latest questions that I have asked GregF.

QUOTE
Hi Mr. Farshtey, Thank you for answering the last pm I sent you.  I have some more questions I would like to ask you.

1. do you know if Toys R Us's website will sell the takutanuva set or will they only have it in thier stores?
Probably.

2. Could a matoran use a tool a bohrok va droped? For exaple if a tahnok va droped its fire staff could a matoran pick it up and use it?
Probably not... he wouldn't know how to make it work.

3. Are the tahnok va's and vakama's fire staff the same? Or do they have differnt powers? If they have differnt powers what are they?
I believe they are different. Vakama's fire staff is sort of more like a welder.

4. Have you recived the list of kraata types and powers from denmark yet, and has lego confirmed that you can or cannot post them here? If you can is there a certain date that you are putting them up?
I have received the list of kraata types, I have not made the list of powers yet.

5. On that list dose it say what color the rahkshi thoose kraata change into?
No.

6. Are there 252 difernt color combinations of kraata or are there 252 total kraata including the six levels?
252 total kraata.

7. Since we will see some of the other types of rahkshi in cameo apearances will lego sell the rahkshi that apear?
No plans to, no.

8. Are there any plans to eventualy introduce all of the rahkshi species in the comics or only a few? If there would only be a few how would they choose which ones, because I doubt it would happen but I think it would be neat if there was a vote on lego.com or here at bzpower.
I doubt all of them will be introduced, and I am not sure how they will be chosen.

Thank you in advance for you time.

Has it really been years since the Toa originally fought Makuta?

It might have been years, but more likely,
it just seems like years to Makuta.

i was thinking about the borhok and there powers and such when a few questions came to mind

1 since the borohk use elematal powers can the toa just reveres there powers and it like blow up the borohk instead or like redirect there attack?

How would they reverse their powers? The Toa don't have that ability.

2 were did there borhoks power come from there michines so how did they get elmatla powers?

They are built in to the Bohrok armor.

a qeation about the rahkshi now

3how do the rahkshi fly i know its one of there powers but it seems to more like the power of the staff that makes them fly

No, I believe that it is a Rahkshi power, not a staff power.

4and can the rahkshi breath underwater?

Not as far as I know.

5 when a kraata is in the rahkshi aormor is  the kraata not shelf awaer and is part of the rahkshi like does it feel the blows to the rahkshi or does the kraata not feel a thing?.

Wow, good question... my guess is it has to have some sensory awareness to be able to direct the Rahkshi, but we do not even know if kraata are able to feel pain. My guess would be they do not feel the pain of blows to the Rahkshi.. since kraata are weaker than Rahkshi armor, they would pass out too fast if they felt the blows.

thanks for your time greg.
