I think that tahu uses his vahi to stop time and steals the symbols from the kal and take them back to the koro and then use pohatu's mask to get back to where the kal are then unfreeze time and use there elemental powers to win.

Yes, but the Vahi is not a Kanohi Nuva, thusly, it wouldn't give power to the other Toa, and time would freeze on them too. It wouldn't work. He'd just take them back and walk back.
