Is it plastic metal wood stone?

You mean on the actual Toa? They are most likely made of the same material as the Toa themselves, which I'm guessing is metal.

I'd say proto, because the Toa are made from proto so why not their masks? Mata Nui might of made the masks, so the toa could complete their destiny.
I think any spirit can make masks, because Makuta can't use the masks destined for the toa, making it sound like makuta makes his own masks.

It's all Protodermis.
I'm not too sure about the Matoran etc, but the Toa's colours are Elementally-tinted, hence their gradual greyness when the Bohrok-Kal steal their symbols.
Before a Kanohi is tinted with their Element, it's Protodermic, and when the Elemental power is drained, it's Protodermic once more.
The Toa Nuva armour is Raw Protodermis, untouched by Elemental forces.
So my answer is Protodermis.

What Lupus said, with one thing.
I think that all masks can't be destroied, and the the Masks for the Matoran are just like the Kahoni, except they ALWAYS retain color.

Indeed - The Matoran make their own masks, in honour of the Toa. Or the Turaga, in some cases.

IMHO its protodermis.First their made out of protodermis then morphed by it but their aint going to be more transformations because it may be boring being the same but always changing LEGO would run out of ideas and the Toa Nuva would look like megazords!*shudders*

Well Lord Lupus pretty much sums it up!The Matoran masks aren't proto,I think, cuz'it would mean they are toa without energies and mask powers.

Protodermis.
You are right, Lord Lupus.
Protodermis seems to be some really useful and powerful stuff!...

I think that the Kanohi are made out of solidified protodermis. That would explain the powers of the Noble Kanohi, the Great Kanohi, the Kanohi Nuva, the Avohkii and the Kraahkan.

I think Lord Lupus is right. But what do the matoran make their masks out of? I've always wondered if they have any powers at all. I remember seeing Matoro use his to zoom in, but that could have been totally mechanical, I guess. Have we seen any matoran use their masks even a little like the Great and Noble masks?

Well i think they are made out of metal or steel. But that's just me.

Well who said that the Masks themselves generated the power?
I think that their design is unique from Matoran masks, and that they just channel it.
I am not flaming you.

MotR is probably right. All masks are protodermis, the Toa and Matoran are made from proto, but the Toa have powers. If superman was real, would you say he was made out of horse meat because he can fly, etc? Protodermis is a building material, used by the matoran to build things(Thanks, GregF).
I'm not flaming, just explaning.
