A chronicler is someone that records things. Like say there was a war, and you went and fought in the war while recording the events that has happened. Takua either goes with the toa or goes on his own, writing down almost everything that has happened, so he's a chronicler. EDIT: Darn, I was trying to think of a good way to put it and you beat me Tahufrozen.oh well.

Basically, they are like journalists. They travel around, recording stuff.

A chronicler is (in Takua's case), someone who travels around Mata Nui, recording the happenings on the island as he travels from village to village. This is done so that if, in some way, the island is destroyed, the chronicles will remain to tell the story of Mata Nui.

A Chronicler is a Matoran that wanders from Village to Village, and explores the island. He keeps track of all the importent things that happen on Mata-Nui, so that if the Toa were ever defeated, and Mata-Nui fallen, then at least the Chronicler's Book would still exist, to tell the story of Mata-Nui.
