Tahufrozen is right. The Ussanui is nothing to do the Ussal crabs. It is an artificial machine that was contructed by the Toa Nuva at the instructions of Takanuva.

The Matoran Nui was never in the Storyline.

Personally, I'm wondering whether "Ussa" means something in its own right.

That'd make Ussal Crabs be ... 'of' whatever Ussa is, and the Ussanui, well, having something to do with it too.

They may have named it after Ussal crabs, though I doubt it.
But Greg said they may make it out of solid Protodermis.

Wait a minute here....
"Ussa(l)" is maybe a Matoran word/prefix for vehicle! Think: Vehicle crabs (they are) and Vehicle-Giant (Ussanui). Nui means Giant, Ussa means vehicle. Or Nui could also mean "super/mega", so Ussanui could translate into "Super Vehicle" or "Mega Vehicle"! Ain't that cool!?!?

Well We have seen before that because words are similiar it doesn't mean that they are related to each other. Basically this can be seen as one of those situations.
