I read and re-read comic 12, and this is my theory on how the Kal were defated. First, the Vahi slows down time AT A SELECT TARGET, the target was the Kal. Since the Kal were slowed down, when the Toa Nuva focused their powers at the cube/Kal, the Kal couldn't react to the sudden blast of raw power. Once they were hit, Tahu Nuva let the Vahi's power subside so the Kal could be defeated by their own powers.

Good theory, but I thought that the Vahi slowed down time so that the Toa Nuva could think of some thing to do. The energy that the Kal stole from the Toa was held by the Kal, so thus when the toa nuva focused thier energy, the Kal overloaded and were destroyed by thier own energy.

i agree with Exo-Takanuva, except that I think the Kal reacted to the powers, but they liked it because they thought it would make them moe powerful. Guess not
