Could you provide the exact words? I think it's just a coincidence personally.

There is no ussal-nui, and don't double post, use edit. Ussanui comes in the Takanuva set, and Takanuva the toa of light rides it. I think what Greg means is that Lego wanted Ussanui to sound like ussalnui, although there is no such thing, Ussanui is clearly not a crab.

Shouldnt this be in Sets and in The Officail Takanuva set discussion topic.Because it is about the set adn it is pretty much the whole takanuva set

I believe that although the Ussanui could have been meant to sound like Ussal Nui (implying that it was a crab), it is not. In the product description at Lego Shop at Home, it says that the Ussanui is Takanuva's vehicle.
The combiner that is formed of Makuta and Takanuva is called Takutanuva and the Makuta, Jaller & Gukko, and Takua & Pewku combiner is called Makuta Nui. If that was what you were asking...

Ussanui is the vehicle of takanuva as for the ussal-nui, I don't know what are you talking about. The ussanui does not look like a ussal at all.
Off topic:chronicler, whats that birthday cake beside your name ???, I just check your profile and now its the bz logo with a party cap.

Perhaps 'Uss' may mean 'ride'. 'al' would perhaps mean some sort of crustacean, and 'anui' 'vehicle'?
I'm reaching, but if it's meant to sound the same, it's the only way I can think of, since they're not related at all.
Oh, and Premier Members can't move topics, Stevers80 - Only Moderators and Admin can, but don't let that stop you becoming one, eh?

Yeah I saw that and have no idea what it means. I thought on this and Gregf said Ussanui us not pewkew and is not living so maybe takanuva names himself and his ride after the dude that saved him and his ride (pewkew is a ussal.) Other than that I have no Idea what it could be.

anui can not mean vehicle cause nui is at the end of a lot of combiner sets
ex:kuma-nui
or maybe the nui means nothing
ex:takanuva

I really like your theory Comet Ball Traitor and that certainly would explain a lot about the similarities betweeb names and since the Ussanui is a combiner (it's already been established that NUI means combiner) of Rahkshi and Bohrok-Kal and it could be an honor to Pewku so it could be plausible.

maybe it is a crab mutated into a motorcycle

No, the Ussanui is completely dead, it never lived, and probably will never live.
And apparently, it's made from cannibalised Bohrok-kal and Rahkshi parts.
But then, if they destroy the Rahkshi to make the Ussanui, then how will the Toa Nuva battle the Rahkshi whilst Takanuva battles makuta?

The ussanui is a machine so it is not an evolved ussal crab.
As many people have said thins in bionicle that sound the same are not always related for example Tahu and Tahnok sound the same but thay are not related.
Pure coincidence!

It's obvious to me why the Ussanui's name is so similar to "Ussal." The Ussal crabs are the main ways of tranportation for Matoran, of course. So Ussanui gots it name because it is so similar to the Ussal crabs in terms of transportation. Takanuva can ride Ussanui just as Matoran ride the Ussal crabs.

P.S. I know... I sound like a Mata Nuian scientist... x_x

Pocamu, it's also a good idea to flesh out any posts you make telling someone they shouldn't do what they did.
A La "That transportation idea Pocamu had is quite good. It seems the most relevant. I wonder if we'll get an answer soon?"

the ussanui is a vehicle. the ussal is a crab. ussal does not sound like ussa to me. and if it was a combined set. then it would look like this: ussa-nui. every combiner set that has the nui at the end uses a hyphon to separate them. ussanui is one word. and the point of a topic is to have other people's opinions, not all yours. i don't mean to be rude.

Well, maybe they don't.
Maybe the Toa will spend so much energy trashing the Rahkshi, they will be in no shape to fight and will be resting whilst Takanuva battles Makuta!
OT: I agree with Pocamu. That explains why Ussanui was meant to sound like Ussal.
