I just thought up not that long ago. When Kratta touch Protodermis they become Rahkshi, correct? Well, what if when a non-Mask of Power ( every mask BUT the Toa's and Turaga's. ) touches Protodermis, it becomes a Matoran? I heard that on the MNOLG 1 that it says Protodermis is the bringer of life. Thoughts? Comments?

Maybe, it seems protodermis does everything on mata-nui. Matoran may have been this way but I believe that they came from another place. Hey maybe that happened on another place?

Good theory, but something tells me that it is more likely that they were just hand-crafted by Mata Nui... or something else. We know that they came from another land, that's all. We do not know if it was another island, planet, or whatever. On this 'other land' they were created. That's the one hole in your theory - kraata are alive and 'mutate' into Rahkshi. Kanohi are masks. It like saying that if you put a leech into some strange substance it might eveolve into a new creature, but would a mask turn into a person? No.

It is nearly common knowledge that the Matoran came from 'another land', possibly fleeing from a greater evil, maybe it got too crowded and they needed more space.

All we know is that no new matoran have appeared on the island since they arrived there, and that all their ages are staggering.

Mata Nui did not create the Matoran, he came down from paradise (where ever that is) and brought peace and light to the island that they had settled on. Mata Nui gave to the islanders Unity, Duty and Destiny; as they had none of that, and were just seperated across the island, living out their own lives.

How they were created, well.... I don't have the foggiest.
