in the quest for makuta board game, it says "Tahu was made when the planet was formed" and also in comic 2 when galis underwater, and the kiata speak to her through dreams, they say "child of the waters". that leads me to believe that the toa were made by the'r elements. how else would they control them?

I very much doubt a mindless body of Water could create Gali, or something as destructive as Fire could create Tahu...

Ah....but what you're forgetting is that mata-nui wished for the toa. He must've gotten the elements and formed 6 heroes out of them.

Ahh, I'm gonna have to agree with Master of all the Rahkshi. Mata-nui probaly created the Toa out of the elements, or something.

I think that when they discovered the desperate need of warriors on Mata-nui, other spirits created six beings that were lifeless and colorless, then added life by the element. Then, packaged away in containers, they were sent to the store... I mean, Mata-nui.

yeah, but that doesn't mean that he was formed by fire. Maybe Mata-Nui wasn't formed like Terra in that it was made by fire. It just says that Tahu was formed in the beginning. Otherwise, good theory!

Actually, did you know that the second mata-nui was put to sleep the toa canisters were launched? but they ended up floating in the ocean fr thousands of years...so the toa are really old.

After Makuta made Mata-Nui sleep, he's in no position to wish for anything!
The legends prophecised that six mighty heroes called the Toa would arrive to defeat Makuta.

Takua collected the Toa Stones and summoned the Toa to the Island - Mata-Nui was in the land of Nod when all this went down.

*Note - The "Land of Nod" isn't some new island in the Bionicle storyline, it's another way of saying he was asleep.

I will add on to sotu toa of voids theorie.He said the toa were lifeless and colorless until their elemental powers were gave to them...That theorie applys to the toas masks, they are colorless and practiclly useless when not worn by a toa.For example tahu can still use his sword without his mask 'cus fire is his elemental power and his older mask protects him(sheilding) but it does not give him the power of his sword, that is something that he already has!!!!

I am also agreeing with lord lupus, but this theory is very ambigous.

Actually, when the Toa first came to the Island, they WERE grey - Only by donning their Mask of Power did their mask, and themselves, become infused with their elemental power.
