When you make a combiner your always left with left over parts.
When the Toa, Bohrok, Bohrok-Kal or Rahkshi become their Kaitas where do the left over parts go, they don't just lay on the floor waiting to be claimed.
so where do thay go?

No where, they're just extra parts. Yes they do just lay on the floor waiting to be claimed.

When the Toa combine, they don't physically build themselves into a Kaita, they just merge. That means that there are no extra pieces involved.

GaliGee has an interview with the Toa Nuva Kaita, wherein Wairuha Nuva steals Akamai Nuva's leftover parts.
It's a pretty funny read.
A little more on topic though, that does leave another question. When beings, say the Toa, merge into Kaita, does the Kaita have the same mass as the three Toa combined?

In the bionicle world in the comic or a movie they are probably absorbed.
