How did Makuta go from being an infected mask to a big monster? In the old legend of makuta it said his last form would be a swarm of equally powerful beasts.

Makuta seems to be a shape- shifter, able to go from a deceptively harmless creature to a treacherous monster. As for the legend... they can be wrong sometimes. That's what Makuta's trying to do.

Here is what the legend said. "The Turaga's legend said that the Makuta was a whirling, kicking, screaming, clawing beast. That he--or IT--could be many things at once - cobra, tiger, hawk. But when he faced the Toa, he chose a very different form...."
So this shows that makuta can not only change but can also be many things at once. I think that his new toa-like form is indeed his true form.

No, takua55, Makuta has no true form. It's just the form he chooses to use at the moment.
As to how he can transform, I think that he controls his body on a molecular level, that he can rearrange them, but only with a large amount of energy. I mean, shiting every little molecule into the right place...it's gotta take a lot of energy.

I think he will end or die in the movie because the rahkshi are kinda a swarm of eqaully powered beasts and they are part of him

If it takes large amounts of energy for hiim to transform then how did he transform in the first online game, he always had to have the infected mask to transform.

he could take parts form that swirling vortex of parts and create a new body.

makuta has the abilty to take any shape he wants to be. that is what he does. people thought he was a rock. and sometimes legends are never what they trun out o be. the matoran never knew he was a matoran.

he only took the form of a matoran to trick the toa.
as makuta is mata-nui's brother, can mata-nui shape-shift?

Who cares how Makuta actually does it, all we know is that shape shifting is just one of Makuta's powers, just like the Rahkshi can fly. It just a power.
As for why he chose the form of a Matoran originally, it has been confirmed that Makuta simply underestimated the power of the Toa and then released the Bohrok to buy him some time to regain power.

so how could anyone prove that they have seen makuta if he has many different forms?

Thats what's so wierd about it. MAkuta could pose as a normal Matoran and go to one of the Turaga and ask about all the prophesies etc.
It's abit like a spy. How do you know you've never met a spy before?

The turaga could probably tell how would most likely have that infected hau mask.

What I don't get then, if he has no true form, then why *and how* did they come out with a toy for him? If he can always change, won't that mean that they will have to continually make different toys? and why didn't they give us a giant whirling mass for a toy? That would've been kinda nifty.......kinda........not...

I think that the toy is his true form.

i think the toy is a kind of 'warrior' form, a dark kaita or something along the same lines!
