What is before the shadow and the toa:
1.) the

matoran

didn't live ever on mata nui (=> that's true)
- Where did they come from?
2.) the

turaga
- where they on mata nui before the

matoran

?
3.) the rahi
- where they good before the shadow and the toa?
So many questions think about that and post many, many, many replays!!

The matoran were not always there, GregF said so.
(A note: Matoran had 'powers' before the Toa came.)

Triple posting fiend.
The Matoran have always been there, but they became the smart, civilized folks they are today after Mata-Nui came.
Originally they were Matoran, but they were really wise and Mata-Nui made them into the Turaga.

It's kinda hard to understand your post. I don't think the Rahi were animals before because don't you think there would be more non-infected ones on the island?

I'm supposing by saying "the shadow" you're refering to Makuta's evil so:
1) The Matoran came to Mata Nui. We assume it was from another island, but that's debateable. Mata Nui came down from the heavens after the Matoran came.
2) The Turaga were on the island at the same time as the Matoran. They arrived by the same means as the Matoran also, whatever those means might be. So, No.
3) The Rahi are basicly the larger, stronger animal inhabitants of Mata Nui. They are sometimes more agressive, but not evil, unless their mask is infected. So, Yes.

Actually, the rahi were never good. The only time they were bad was when they had infected masks on. Now, and before that, they were not good or bad. They were on no sides.

That's true. The rahi were creatures that livd on the island. They're animals. They hunted for food and were completly innocent. They were just caught in the crossfire of the war against makuta.

Let's see...
The Matoran and the Turaga came to the Island from another one, possibly fleeing an evil greater than Makuta. When they arrived, they were in their 'new' forms.
Mata-Nui descended from Paradise to watch over them, and as a tribute, they named the Island after him.
Makuta saw how the Matoran worshipped his brother, and became jealous, followed him down from Paradise.
The Matoran wouldn't worship Makuta, so he cast a spell over Mata-Nui, which in turn made the Matoran weak (they became their 'old' style with the bendy arms), and they seemed to forget all about Mata-Nui and everything that went on before.
The Turaga don't seem to have been afected, so they taught the Matoran about Mata-Nui, and thet didn't worship Makuta.
So (we know now) makuta created kraata to infect the Rahi (which are usually wild, hence neither good nor evil), in an attempt to force the Matoran to worship him, which they did not.
I believe the rest is common knowledge.
Oh, and the Matoran did not have 'powers' before the Toa came - All they had before anyone arrived was a different form, and that was before Makuta arrived.

the matoran came from a different island. so did the turaga. the rahi were probably just the wild animals of the island.
