Well there was another topic like this but it was closed since the question was answered.

Here is what Makuta said in the final battle with the Toa:

So my theory was that he was not Makuta or infected, But Makuta did exploit the evil inside him. But GregF said that the CBT (comet ball trader) was in his right mind but had formed an alliance with Makuta. And that he may return in the future.

A spy for makuta, the cbt could have also gathered info on the matoran fighting tactics, so makuta could easily defeat the matoran!

Hmmmm. That's a tougie. He probably has some account with Makuta because he left immediatley after you fought off the Nui-Jaga. Or maybe he was just out of business.

Be if any matoran could work for makuta without wearing an infected mask, that means there could be more of them!
