Ok here it goes. It starts with Mata Nui and Maukuta. At First both of them were good. But somewhere along the way Maukuta was corupted by greed for power. Then Mata Nui and Maukuta started fighting in pardisee. Mata Nui eventuly won, temporarly weakening Makuta enough so he would have to retreat, but pardise was in ruins. So Mata Nui came down from paradise and landed on an island. The island was a place of sadness because it was overrun with insect like creatures called bohrok . These borohk were ruled by two creatures called barahg that had enslaved the people of the island, called tohunga. In order to defeat the Bahrahg, Mata Nui created a warrior . The warrior's name was Takanuva . Giving him the ablity to control light true a staff and mask he had forged Takanuva fought and defeated the baragh. Mat nui then lock them underground. Then he encased the bohrok in nest that he scaterted across the island. The islanders thank him by naming the island after him. Mata Nui then changed their names from tohunga to matoran and broke them up into six tribes. He then picked six Matoran, one from each tribe, and changed them into what he called Turaga. He gave the wisdom and understanding told them that they must govern each village, which would be called Koros. The island was a happy place but that would soon end, because Makuta finally had enough power to defeat Mata Nui. Makuta followed Mata Nui and started to infect the island with creatures called Kraata. Mata Nui then confronted Makuta and they began to battle. When Takanuva heard of this rush to help Mata Nui but was too late. Makuta powers had overwhelmed Mata Nui. Mata Nui was beginning to fall into a deep sleep. Takanuva rushed to his creator’s side to try and reverse Makuta’s dark powers. Mata Nui however stopped him. He told Takanuva that he must drive Makuta into the shadows. Makuta would still have power over the island but he would for a time be at bay. Then he told Takanuva of six other great beings such as himself the he had created to protect the Koros. He called them Toa. Each controlled an elemental power. One would control fire, one ice, one water, one air, one earth, and one stone. They were sealed in canisters in space that he must launch and when the time is they would wash up on the shore. They too had mask. Each would wear one of six mask different mask, each with it’s own unique power, when they arrived. Each would then have to find the other five masks, which had been scattered, across the islands during the fight. Only when all the mask were collected could the vanquish Makuta. He told him to tell the Turaga of this and when they arrive to help them on their quest. He then gave Takanuva another mask, which he called Vahi. It controlled the power of time. He told him to scatter this mask with the others. When the time was right a Turaga would find it and give it to a Toa. Then he must seal himself away. He must separate himself from his mask and hope that he must never be awakened for that would Makuta would be more powerful than ever. Takanuva then did battle with Makuta. Though Maukuta was powerful the enraged Takanuva was able to send Makuta into the shadows were he would remain forever. But before being taken into the shadows he drag Mata Nui Down with him. Takanuva then did as Mata Nui instructed him. Finally the time had come to seal himself away. Before he did however he had the Turaga erase all records of him but one. Makuta ruled and sent creatures to guard the mask that had been scattered. The matoran still never lost hope in the legend of the Toa. And so they waited for the day when their saviors would come.

well first welcome to BZpower, second, I like your theory, maybe you should write an epic about it, It is pretty simaler to mine, we'll never know untill the comics or movie or other sources tell us, maybe next year!

Actually that was their own doing. And that happened whe the bohrok came.

Besides that (and that's hardly even a variable) this is an awesome theory. Very likely.

The tohunga were only renamed due to a legal thing, but i personally do not know of the storyline!

Well, the only theory I have is that, since it IS the past, Matanui will be a toa and his enemy is an evil toa named...Makuta!!! Pretty Sad theory, but that's how I've always thought of it.
