Gali and Gali Nuva's masks both have the power to let the user and sometimes those around them breathe under water. But, in the commentary on MOL, there is a scene where Takua meets Makuta. The commentators state that he didn't actually have to breathe, it was a visual effect to make him look scared. If they don't have to breathe, then why do they need a mask to give them the power to breath under water? blink.gif
Master of the Rahkshi
The directors of the MoL know very little about Bionicle. To them, Mata Nuians are just robots, not the living creatures that they are. The Bionicle characters do have to breathe, eat, drink, sleep, think, and so on to live. Thus the Kaukau and Kaukau Nuva are necessary.

If you have to breath underwater that Implies you breath on land. So yes they do breath. The commentators were wrong there. Besides you don't breath hard if you don't have lungs then why breath hard if your scared?
-K22-
The inhabitants of mata nui do breath. The evidence is the kaukau mask. Also, if you play MNOG2 Hahli needs to use air bladders to breath longer.

They used that to show the emotion of takua and show that he was scared.

Yeah, the Mata-Nui inhabitants need to breathe. Otherwise the Le-Koronans wouldn't be able to play wind instruments, Nuparu wouldn't have struggled when his Boxor sank in Ga-Koro, and Hahli wouldn't have needed the Air Bladders in MNOLG2.

The commentators have...not s much knowledge as the rest of us at bzpower. they are wrong with that because they obviously breath everywhere else
Soru
On the mini CDs that come with Rahkshi and Bohrok Kal, the Toa Nuva are shown breathing. I think they do breathe. They're not just robots. They're called "biomechanical" or something like that.

And I see another good point, Hahli can buy air bladders in the MNOLG2.

Do they eat, though? I can't think of them ever eating anything or even metioning food.... oh wait, in Ga-Koro in the MNOLG1, they cook fish. Never mind. laugh.gif

Plus, in the movie, the Matoran and Toa, too, I think have heart lights. And-

So it looks like the Matoran are very much alive. And to live, don't you need to breathe?
Exo-Toa of Plastic
As I recall, the commentators state that they weren't sure whether the inhabitants of Mata Nui breathe or not.
And Soru, it has been confirmed that the Matoran eat. Remember that Koli fan in Po-Koro? "Who ate all the pies! Who ate all the pies!"

YOu have to realize that they have to do all they can to make the movie more realistic to both BIONICLE fans and the newbie. The people that make the movies only do enough research to know the basic about the characters and the BIONICLE universe. THey don't have to disect it like we do and study like many of us do. So I would not listen to a director unless he is a PUBLICLY stated BIONICLE fan

the directors and makers of mask of light are not lego so they do not know how the charcters are supposed to talk look like and do

we know lego knows (well obviously! sp?) but they don't!

i think the game looks better!

[Bionicle Hunter]
I agree with all of the above . Here , I have a critical thinking question , that you
must finish : All living things must breath . The Bionicles breath ( if they were real ) . That means the Bionicles ....

rtfm.gif Since the toa, matoran, turaga etc. do breathe, talk, live, eat, and everything, then do they go to the bathroom? I mean, if something eats, then it will come out the other end, right!
Toa Onewa
well the characters were surpose to be very human and I think they do breath. anyway cars are machines and they need air to work

What did the commentators actually say?
It is a well established fact that the Toa, etc. breathe. Even in the comics, the Toa talk about holding their breath under water. (I could get the exact quote if I really have to.) Plus all of the above statements being true, and verifiable as well. rtfm.gif
The commentators made an error if they said Matoran don't have to breathe.
Question answered.

Takea and other 'creatures' live underwater, they are also BIONICLEs.

Hmm... I was thinking about that too. But Lego wouldn't want to talk about that! blink.gif
Mask Of Time
yes they DO breathe.....but parhaps not like WE,humans , do. Parhaps their "systems" need oxygen for OTHER reasons.

Odd to think machines can...."breathe"

Makuta Master
Yes, they breathe.
