SPIRIT

I am certain that I read some where that the Toa were sent to Mata Nui (the island) from the same place as Mata Nui and Makuta by the "Great Beings". I think I am the only one to have read this. Post here if I am wrong, if you heard the real story, or I you heard it too.

I don't think I've ever heard that before, but then again I might have missed something.

I did hear that a long time ago, when the toa's bios were first posted. I think it was scrapped, though, and the bios edied. They were also called "spirits" before the bios were changed.

Yeah I remember that! They are still spirits though I think.

I know that they're like spirit of earth and whatever.

I thought GregF said that the Toa were not Great Spirits. Look in The GregF Database. But the Toa were sent to Mata-Nui in the form of their canisters.

We don't actually know where the Toa came from. Even from the VERY beginning of the Story, it was still a vague Turaga legend.
It goes something like this:
| QUOTE (Bionicle Legend @ wayback) |
...six mighty heroes will descend from the heavens. Each spirit will represent the elements of Fire, Ice, Water, Air, Earth and Stone. |
| QUOTE (Bionicle Legend @ a little later) |
The Toa arrived in six Canisters, and set off in search of the Great Kanohi Masks. |
So you never actually find out whether they crashed into the island, or fell into the sea and swept ashore, or had they always been in the ocean, and eventually found there own way to Mata Nui.
But I'm pretty sure all will be revealed next year some where.

The term "great Beings" is the politcally correct term. The reason why they aren't called "gods" is because it might offend someone.

Kopaka 22, this topic is about the Toa being sent by great beings. Not being spirits.

The way I see it, the Toa are the physical embodiments of the lesser Spirits of the Elements.

The question is, who are the "Great Beings" (or "great Beings" to be politically correct). If Mata Nui didn't send them, and Makuta didn't, who did send the Toa?

I've heard it, too, but the Toa aren't great beings.

I am the great being so I sent them ^^...Didn't Takua use the summoning stones to bring the toa or is that a figment of my imagination?
The Toa stones were part of the prophesy, no one knows if they really worked or whether it was just coincidence.

A long time ago, it was said they came from the sea, and that's all we know, but they're not Great beings. Theoretically, if all six were to menge, they'd be a Great Being, but not individually, I don't think so.

Maybe it's Takutanuva who sent the toa...wild guess. Makuta is Mata-Nui's brother, then who is their dad?!? Maybe Makuta and Mata-Nui's dad sent the Toa to Mata-Nui(island),and Makuta was born as the "evil" brother, then Mata-Nui went asleep by him, then maybe MAYBE...The Toa are great beings. If you calculate it all out, that is.

I heard somewhere that makuta downgraded everything (toa to turaga, Matoran to tohunga, etc) with Takanuva being the concentration of the blast (thus he went from Toa to tohunga). Maybe the current toas were present as great beings.
P.S. 1st post!

I think they were spirits, and the great beings gave them the parts to create the bodies they origanaly used.

What I meant by Matoran to Tohunga was from the 2003 style to the McDonalds style.

Inuyasha, they came from the sky. I saw it in a demo CD for Lego. It was promoting a Bionicle game coming out in 2001.

Well , Greg stated that the Great Beings are real to the Matoran and the Turaga and Toa , because it is their religion to think that .
In a way , when Makuta says he is nothing , he is telling the truth . He is nothing , he was created by the
Matoran's beliefs , just as Mata-Nui may have been . The " Great Beings " may be nothing more then beliefs .

Go to the
Mata Nui Map and look up the legend of Mata Nui. It will say someone
sent mata Nui to the island.
