I think the "Comet Ball Traitor" is actually Makuta in disguise.
He couldn't be a Matoran scince they hate Makuta, imagine their conversation:
CBT walks into a cave
Makuta: "You shall join my army and destroy Po-Koro!
CBT:"Okay where's my new mask?
See it won't work.
And in MNOLG 1 Onewa says that the CBT is a stranger, but how can he be a stranger when he is the same colour as the Po-Matorans. They should know who he is. At least 1 of them.
Further more he was a stranger so he would be living alone, like in his LAIR. Also when Pohatu and Takua went in that cave they found an infected mask. Only Makuta could have done that.

There's probably an official topic somewhere. Good point though. Maybe the CBT left the Po-Matoran early in the storyline, like much before the Toa came. Then everyone forgot about him, so he's a "stranger". Plus, not all Matoran hate Makuta. Most worship Mata Nui, but some went to Makuta's side.

What he was intended to be I don't know......GregF says he is just a matoran....But as Greg never worked on MNOLG1 I don't know if that is the true answer. Perhapse he was intended to be Makuta perhapse not. I will ask Greg to check with the MNOLG1 creators. But this is very Dupish........

GregF said that Makuta was NOT the CBT. That the CBT probably created an alliance with Makuta. And that the CBT may appear in the future.

Very good theory, and an interesting thought. But I doubt it actually was Makuta, but than again, a Matoran wouldn't just walk right up to Makuta and make a deal with him. He could have been captured by Makuta and forced into doing it, on the grounds that he would be killed if he didn't. Or turned into a Rahi.
