Nuhrii,the mask maker(HUH? THIS CAN BE A SPOILER OF WHO THE MASK MAKER IS!) maybe maded the kraahkan for makuta in change for something special(widgets,eternal life),but wanted to be evil and placed an evil spirit(evil greater than Makuta...hmmmmmmm...) in it.Makuta putted it on and became evil,the Makuta we know now.In the movie he says ''My DuTy LiEs In ThE kRaAhKaN,, ,that must be the spirit in his mask that controls his entire mind.
So Makuta is probably good.
And in the movie when he says he wants to protect Mata-Nui he was probably in his own control for a minute.

Hmm, that acctually is plausable. although I doubt he made it directly for makuta, since he wanted the most powerfull mask for himslef, it has always been a thought that the kraakan controled makuta though it cannot be proven. It would make sence that makuta would go to the most skilled mask maker. We have to wait and find out.
But I still believe that makuta was bad. he lied to the toa nuva to trick them and fell for his lies. And he chose to wear the kraakan. Makuta was evil.

well, he is a skilled mask maker. but by the looks of it there should be more like him, or maybe makuta made his own.
the story line might run into it someday. ya never know.

Nuhri likes to make ~bad~ masks I guess. That is a scary thought. But a very good theory. One problem though, Greg F said that Makuta was evil himself end of story. Of course Greg F also said that Takua wasn't Takanuva so we never know...

Good theory but the "my duty lies to the mask of shadows" line that is making people think Makuta is only evil because of the Krahkan was just a miscomunication. Makuta may have some good in him yes. But the bad in him isn't caused by the Krahkan.

I don't think so and the reason is that GregF has stated a number of times now that Makuta is not being controlled by the mask or anything else. He is acting on his own and because he wants to.

And, Jcub, GregF never stated that Takua wasn't Takanuva he just refused to stated that he was.
