Hey,I've been thinking and been wondering if other people on BZpower are thinking the same thing.I've been wondering If some people don't use the storyline.I don't think that people should use the storyline if they don't want to.For example,I watched the mask of light movie and I liked It for a while. Then I found out later that there Is something really stupid in the movie.LIGHT joining darkness, ahh come on,thats about the stupidist thing I've ever heard of.or maybe the stupidist part was when them joined together could provide life.I mean It's just ridiculous, post If you feel the same way.

Well, the movie had it's bad parts like any other movie, but not bad enough to make me stop with the storyline.
Chaos Shadow
Please don't flame the movie. Some of us may actually have enjoyed it. dry.gif Yes, perhaps some parts aren't realistic...but is anything realistic in the world of Bionicle? Y'know, ya don't have to go by the storyline if you don't want to. Imagination is what LEGO is all about. Just don't be flamin' what so many people have enjoyed -- you may end up getting yourself in trouble.
Messianic Toa
Oh sorry,I didn't know what flaming was,sorry. wub.gif blush.gif
SpongeBob SquarePants
Yah, it may be flaming, but it's an opinion. Some people are more mature than others(I should know, lol).

The storyline in Bionicle is one of the many things that makes this LEGO theme different than all the others. Yo can't have a theme without a story, IMO(though LEGO has done it..). So, the storyline keeps the theme going and introduces more things, and ultimately, more sets to make. the Bionicle storyline in MoL is about the classic struggle of good(light) against evil(darkness). How much simpler can you get?

Yeah, at some points I don't like the storyline so I make up my own. Like, the Bohrok-Kal storyline is something a didn't like so I made up some other reason to get to where we are now. Hopefully the Metru-Nui storyline will be something that I will really enjoy.
Dude272
I have no idea where you are coming from with this. Light and dark, they are brothers pretty mcuh. You can't even have one without the other. I didn't think that was a bad part in the movie at all.
The Rah
Well, the storyline is what makes Bionicle unique. There is no storyline in any other Lego theme.

But if you don't want to follow it, well, that's your decision.

Let me explain it:

I know exactly what he's saying. Light and dark are also like counterparts, so I can see why he thinks it's a bit odd that that happened. It also involved the two enemies fusing, which is something that I wouldn't even consider attempting to win a battle.

As for the Storyline, I find it far more fun creating my own version. If you always following the Storyline, then you're missing a good portion of the fun of LEGO.
MS-14S Gelgoog
Well, Lego's kinda stuck. Many fans love the storyline, while many don't. So Lego chooses the best idea. Make the storyline. It makes the people who like the storyline happy, and the room for making your own storyline makes the others happy.
Inuyasha
Like any movie, MoL has good points and good points, while what you said is an opinion, nothing in the world of Bionicle is realistic. I use the storyline often, and make my own branches to it, but they always join back somewhere. Wether to use it or not is your choice, but most people on BZP will, otherwise they wouldn't really have much to discuss.

Toa of Plasma
bionicle is the storyline. without a storyline, bionicle would just be another lego theme that never seems to change. if you look back at the slizers, they didnt have a storyline, so they died off. same with the roboriders. but bionicle is different, it has a storyline
Trissy the Local Authoress
I can understand that. I mean, complete opposites...come on. But I LOVE the movie. I've watched it 7 times! But, I almost never stick to the storyline.

NokamaGee
Ga-Wahi Freak
Yeah, some of us never saw the movie, and I dont plan to. Its like they're making us pay for the storyline now. I like the one that TLC came up with, but the ones in the Library are often more complex and interesting.
Than: Matoran of Anger
I've always held an interest in the storyline. I've also like the open ended story they have that allows for the freedom to create your own stories.
Kopaka, Bringer of Cold Justice
Dude, the storyline is the best part about Bionicle. Heck, if I had to make a choice between the story and the sets I'd take the storyline, hands down. Sure the movie had its... rough spots, but what can you expect from a movie made by LEGO? smile.gif Bottom line is, without the storyline, Bionicle would be dead by now, many times over.

Oh, and about changing the story, isn't that kind of like changing something like Lord of the Rings? It just seems kinda wierd to me, altering something that's already been set in stone.
LehvakLah
I'm usually torn in situations like these, so I just alternate between each storyline. And usually, my custom storylines always link back to the original one. I really do love the original. One of the best storylines EVAH. And the storyline is flexible in many points (like what the Toa were doing during the first two sagas; it was hazy in many places, which left room for improvisation), so people write stories about them, which then end up in the BZP library for people to read, enjoy, and be inspired by.

And I personally liked MoL! Sure, if I made the movie I would've changed a lot (like a lot of the voices and personalities) but I think for Lego's first movie, it was pretty darn good. And I take it hands down over "Brother Bear" any day (now THAT'S a movie with a bad rating in my book. But no offense to those who did like it. biggrin.gif )

the giving life part makuta is a great being so he can give life but since makuta is destruction takanuva combined with him and was probably controlling the body he brought jaller to life

Moving to Storyline...
dhik nuva
Many fans off and on BZ enjoy the storyline. Some of the older members (myself included) don't buy the toys anymore but simply follow the storyline because it is so complex and interesting. BZ also draws them in with spoilers and theories as well the chance to have positive feedback on their own theories.

And this would be better as a poll. PM a Preimer Member or Moderator to get one started.
Tuah Shinguru
Yeah, sometimes I like to say that Huki Hafu Maku and Takua all get together and make the great, "KOLI CAFE!!"

Hey wait!! What is Matru-nui anyway?
Aarahk: Rahkshi of Destruction
Without storyline, Bionicle would just be Throwbots 2.

Um, did I offend you? I never dissed Throwbots...I just said that the sets are similar.

You know, I think that light and shadow joining represented that everything must be balanced. For example, if there was no evil, good would be totally pointless. I thought a lot of stuff in bionicle was bad at first, but I absolutely loved it later. I even despised the toa nuva, and now, I think that they are the best thing that ever happened to it. Give everything a chance. Who knows? Maybe it will work.
Pekel
Not a flame, but I didn't like the MoL much either. And that's an understatement. I follow what I like, and change what I don't. I personally think that the storyline could use a boost, and I like to give it that boost. Rahkshi more powerful then Kal? Morbuzakh more powerful then Rahkshi? Please. glare.gif The Kal could take on the Rahkshi EASY. I'm afraid that Bionicle is just going to be a staircase of powerful, powerfuller, powerfullest, powerfullester, powerfullesterer, etc.

It really bothers me, because that's what it has been so far. I hope it changes after the Morbuzakh, because there has to be a limit to how many "most powerful enemies the Toa have ever faced" there can be.
Ang: The Malaysia Chronicler
Well, the storyline is for kids aged 9 to 12, so if Lego try to make the Bionicle sounded like Lord of the Rings or worse, Matrix series, the children will not understand it, and don't buy that 'just-as-same-like-my-textbook' Bionicle product! So Gukko, if you think you want a change in the storyline and make it more mature, while you already got the Matoran. But for Villian though... just wait a little while, yeah? Probarly 2004 main enemy(NOTE: Morbuzark aren't the main enemy acording to GregF) are far more better in characterlist(sp?).
DNA_dude
hmmm, yeah, some of the MOL things were weird, unrealistic, but I think the Bionicle storyline is one of Bionicle's best parts! (besides the fact that it goes so quikly and you just meet more and more characters)
Jupiter
I'm happy that it HAS a storyline. xmas.gif Throwbots were cool but they didn't have a storyline, like bionicle does!
Nuji
I think the movie was ok but defenitly not true to the bionicle story line!

ok this is why.....

The movie makers had know idea about bionicle... well not enough so the movie was not how it should be. basicly if a lego storyliner made it it would be better and more true!

anyway I think you get the point!

Aarahk: Rahkshi of Destruction
But another thing, there are COMICS on MOL too, so if you don't like the movie, read them.
Makuta Master
The Story is the best part of the movie.

The movie and game were very poor in terms of story, in my opinion, but they did have SOME. Storyline is what brought me to Bionicle in the first place.

It's the story that looks most promising this year. They've finally upped the anty and made some dark characters. We needed that.

Just my cent and a half.

MM
golden exo-onua
Well really you don't have to follow the story if you like But you have to admit the story that exists is a good one .
The Chronicler of Mata Nui
The storyline is very important to Bionicle. Without it, there would be no Bionicle. I agree that you don't have to use the storyline to play with toys, however. And about the movie, If you think about it, it all makes sense. And just to clearify things, Takutanuva's power is not just life. He also has other powers.

You don't seem to understand that part so let me explain: Makuta (darkness) was temporarily neutralised by Takanuva (light) and his will to keep the matoran from awakening Mata-Nui reduced. Thhe life enrgy transfer would have been possible for Makuta without that, he just wouldn't have been willing to. He transfered his own life enrgy into Jaller and in the process lost the strength to hold the door up.
