| Notes |
Long ago, Takua was a peaceful Av-Matoran who was taken from his home during the Time Slip (a six-month period that no one is able to remember) by the Order of Mata Nui and was secretly placed on Metru Nui. There, using his unique Av-Matoran abilities, he changed the color of his armor and had his memory modified to make him think that he was a Ta-Matoran. Takua became a trader Ta-Metru, but usually walked off the job in search of adventure. Many years later, Makuta attacked the city and the Matoran were forced to flee to the island of Mata Nui. For centuries, they waited, hoping for Toa to rescue them.
Takua was just as adventurous on Mata Nui and was one day charged by the Turaga with the task of finding the six Toa stones, to summon the Toa Mata to their island. Takua completed this task, but had his memory wiped again in the process.
Takua journeyed all around Mata Nui, once more, helping out where he could. Impressed by his bravery, he was appointed Chronicler. After the Toa Mata collected their masks, Takua led a Company of Matoran (Kapura, Tamaru, Taipu, Hafu, Macku, and Kopeke) to protect Kini-Nui while they descended into Mangaia to battle Makuta. Before they left, Gali established a mental link between her and Takua so that he could chronicle what was down below if they did not return. After a fierce battle against the forces of Makuta, Gali told Takua that once she and the other Toa entered Mangaia, the link would be broken. So Takua journeyed down to Mangaia, with the help of a Ussal crab named Pewku (who formerly belonged to Orkahm on Metru Nui and then became an Onu-Koro taxi crab) and witnessed Makuta's defeat as well as the awakening of the Bohrok.
During the Bohrok saga, Takua journeyed From village to village to help them against the swarms. In his travels, he formed a strong friendship with Jaller. When the Bohrok-Kal attacked, he and Jaller also joined the Toa Nuva in their quest to defeat them.
With the island at peace, the Turaga decided to hold a Kolhii championship and Takua and Jaller were chosen to represent Ta-Koro. Before the final game, Takua stumbled upon the Mask of Light, but tricked the Turaga into believing that Jaller had done so, not wanting to take on the responsibility of having to find the seventh Toa to whom the mask was said to belong. After a long search across the island, which ended at Kini-Nui, Takua realized that he was to be the seventh Toa and put on the Mask of Light, which transformed into the Toa of Light. He then decided to change his name to Takanuva.
With her owner having transformed into a Toa, Pewku came under the care of Jaller. When he became a Toa as well, she was placed under the care of Kapura. |
