Onua is at home below ground. With his huge hands he scrapes out tunnels in the rocky cliffs over Papu Niho Reef. His low, squat body and head allow him to move quickly in tunnels and his infrared eyes give him amazing night vision.
In daylight his eyesight is poor, although he compensates with amazingly powerful hearing. He is slower on open land than underground, but has incredible strength and surprising dexterity.
Onua is at one with the land. He can hear trouble coming from miles away, and on occasion can even persuade the landscape to do his bidding-which is very useful when under attack. |

After being summoned by Takua, Onua arrived on Mata Nui with little memory of his past life. After he met the other Toa Mata, they proceeded to collect the Great Masks scattered around the island. Once they had accomplished this, Onua, Pohatu, and Tahu merged into Akamai, the Toa Kaita of Valor to face the Makuta. After they defeated him, he unleashed the Bohrok swarms onto the island. Onua and the others were then forced to collect every breed of Krana to unlock the Exo-Toa, so that they could face the Bahrag queens. After defeating and imprisoning them, Onua and the other Toa were plunged into energized protodermis and transformed into Toa Nuva.
Onua is the wisest of the Toa so he approaches trouble with a calm manner and speaks only when he has something important to say. Onua normally wears the Kanohi Pakari, the Great Mask of Strength. |
