    Announcing the Forum Mentors
BZPowerTuesday, July 22nd, 2008 at 7:10pm by Andrew, BZPower News Manager

As part of our Seventh Anniversary celebration, it brings me great pleasure to announce our newest additions to the Staff Team. These members will not be part of any existing group but will instead be a brand new group with a unique goal that should help to better all of BZPower. I'd like to introduce you to the Forum Mentors: a group of individuals that will focus on helping members understand the rules and assist new members in getting used to BZPower and how things work here. Read on to see who is a part of the team and what else they will be doing.

So, who will be a part of this group? We're starting off with four members, but I'm sure over time the group will grow and expand:

    • Macku: Toa of Bubbles
    • Turakii #1 Lavasurfer
    • Ta-metru_defender
    • Gatanui

The main responsibilities of Forum Mentors will include a number of things. They will help out by approving the posts of users in the New Members group. In addition, the Mentors will help newer members by letting them know if their posts may be seen as spam or if they are breaking the rules. They will also be tasked with explaining aspects of the site that members may be unfamiliar with such as avatars and signatures or directing them to where they can find such information. In general they are here to assist members and make things run smoothly.

This decision comes from the suggestions of many members over the years, to have a 'welcoming committee' of sorts for people that are just joining the site. The Forum Mentors group takes this idea to a higher level, giving the staff involved the job to help all members, new and old.

I think this will be a great addition to the BZPower team and look forward to all their contributions. Please join me in congratulating our new Mentors and welcoming them to the staff!
