    55th Anniversary of LEGO Brick Patent

    It's not a big event like the 50th anniversary of the brick or the 75th anniversary of the company, but it deserves some recognition. 55 years ago today, the patent for the stud-and-tube design was filed. It was approved a day later, thus assuring the LEGO group's right to the foundation of this community's heritage. It's pretty monumental when you think about it. Go ahead and celebrate in the talkback thread or enjoy the day by admiring the nearest 2x4 brick in all its structurally-perfect glory.
