Toy Fair 2017: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Hot Bionicle NewsSaturday, February 25th, 2017 at 4:15pm by Danny, BZPower Reporter

BZPower has never fully covered Toy Fair in the past because access to the LEGO booth is very limited. Ultimately, as a LEGO-focused site, we've always prioritized that first and had our lone reporter cover the LEGO booth during the brief window of time that we're allowed to. This year, however, having a second reporter on-site gave us the ability to cover the ribbon cutting ceremony. We didn't get photos of the preceding parade, but read on for photos of the ceremony itself.

The ceremony was preceded by a "second line"-style parade featuring live music and a variety of costumed characters. While I didn't see any LEGO-related licenses represented, a variety of popular licensed characters (such as Teletubbies and a Care Bear) and toy iconography (such as the Colorforms logo and a Bananagrams pouch) were included in the parade and the ceremony. Once the crowd had gathered and the music stopped, there was a brief introduction by the show's organizers before they lowered the chain between the stanchions so we could enter.

If there was an actual ribbon up front, I could not see it through the crowd. I also didn't see any cartoonishly-oversized ceremonial scissors, which took away from the "ribbon cutting" aspect of the ceremony.

There were fun characters there, though! Maybe you can identify more of them than I could. Let us know in the talkback thread.
