  2. And now for my favorite top ten list—books! So this was a really great year for me, reading-wise, as I (somehow) managed to more than double the amount of books I read in 2013 for a total of 121 books. Granted, a lot of those were graphic novels or other short books, but still. And so picking a top ten was hard as I had about 40 books that I rated 5 stars. So I’ve grouped some together and also made separate lists for novels and graphic novels.

Note: These lists are for books I’ve read in 2014, and has nothing to do with release dates. Unfortunately I only read a couple 2014 releases or so (though I am currently reading The Martian, by Andy Weir, which came out in 2014 and is great so far)

    Top Ten Novels of 2014

    1. Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, by Susanna Clarke. This book is long and dense, but definitely worth it.
    2. The Silmarillion, by J.R.R. Tolkien. I was expecting to not like this as much, as it’s always been described as basically “a history book of the elves” and, well, I always hated reading history books for school (history is fascinating, but the textbooks on it less so). =P And yes, it is a history of the elves, but written exceedingly well (I mean, it is Tolkien) and not text-book-y. This book was just so interesting, and I really look forward to re-reading it someday.
    3. Stardust, Neverwhere, The Graveyard Book, Coraline, and Fortunately, the Milk, all by Neil Gaiman. So sort of cheating here, but every single one of his books is absolutely fantastic, and I read all of these this year. My favorite is probably The Graveyard Book, but as I said, each was amazing. Gaiman is definitely one of my all-time favorite authors.
    4. The Golem and the Jinni, by Helene Wecker. I’d heard so much about this, and it really lived up to all the hype. To put simply, it was really beautifully written, and simply reading each word was just as enjoyable as the plot and characters.
    5. Skin Game, by Jim Butcher. Butcher is another favorite author of mine, and the Dresden Files is one of my all-time favorite series. They seem to just keep getting better and better, and Skin Game was no different.
    6. The Bartimaeus Trilogy, by Jonathan Stroud. Can’t wait to read the prequel book, The Ring of Solomon, as this was one of the best series/trilogies I’ve read. The footnotes by Bartimaeus were hilarious.
    7. A Dance with Dragons, by George R.R. Martin. Well, of course. This series is fantastic, and I finally got around to reading the latest novel early last year. Can’t wait for Winds of Winter.
    8. Einstein’s Dreams, by Alan Lightman. This was just an incredibly interesting read, focusing on the dreams of Einstein as he’s forming his theory of relativity. Really brilliant, not only being fascinating in itself, but also making you think and ponder about it.
    9. The Princess Bride, by William Goldman. Hilarious and exceedingly fun. Highly recommended to any fan of the film.
    10. The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. My favorite Sherlock Holmes “book” (counting each collection of short stories as well as the four novels as individual books), as it contains the most of my favorite stories: “A Scandal in Bohemia”, “The Red-Headed League”, and “The Speckled Band”, plus I enjoyed all the others.

Honorable Mentions: A Wrinkle in Time, by Madeleine L’Engle; Ender’s Game, by Orson Scott Card; and The Fault in our Stars, by John Green.

    ~ :: ~

I’m really saddened it’s taken me so long to read a lot of these, but I really only got into graphic novels and comics fairly recently (basically at the beginning of 2014 when I read Hush and fell in love with them—I’d only read a few here and there before), unfortunately. Better late than never, I suppose.

Top Ten Graphic Novels of 2014

    1. Watchmen, by Alan Moore. Without a doubt the best graphic novel I’ve read, and one of the best books I’ve read period.
    2. The Sandman series, by Neil Gaiman. There’s a reason this series is so highly praised, and that’s because it’s fantastic. Tied for my two favorite books would be Vol. 1: Preludes and Nocturnes, and Vol. 4: Season of Mists, followed closely by Vol. 7: Brief Lives because of how hilarious and fun-to-read Delirium is. I've been buying the single issues of Overture (with the Dave McKean covers ^^), but haven't read them yet as I was hoping they'd get on a more regular release schedule first, but it looks like that may not happen...so I'll probably just start reading them soon.
    3. The New 52 Batman, by Scott Snyder (this being The Court of Owls, The City of Owls, Death of the Family, Zero Year – Secret City, and Zero Year – Dark City, all of which I read this year). I’ve rated every one 5 stars, as Snyder really is an amazing writer and is doing such a great job with Batman. Can’t wait to see how Endgame plays out.
    4. Batman: Hush, by Jeph Loeb. Just such a great stand-alone Batman story, and it's the one that got me really interested in comics in general. Can't wait to read The Long Halloween, also by Loeb.
    5. Batman: Arkham Asylum – A Serious House on Serious Earth, by Grant Morrison. First off, the art for this, by Dave McKean, is absolutely amazing, and fits the story perfectly. The story itself is fantastically dark and creepy.
    6. Deadpool: The Complete Collection – Volume 1, by Daniel Way. Just a blast. I recently picked up the other three volumes of Daniel Way’s run, and can’t wait to read them. Deadpool really is a hilarious character (can’t wait for the film, especially if it’s anything like that leaked clip, as that’s very close to the Deadpool in Way’s comics).
    7. Hawkeye, Vol. 1: My Life as a Weapon, by Matt Fraction. It's really fun to see Hawkeye in a non-Avengers setting, and just what his day-to-day life is like--great character.
    8. Captain America: Winter Soldier, by Ed Brubaker. Captain America is my second favorite superhero (after Batman), and this run was a great read.
    9. Kingdom Come, by Mark Waid. What was fascinating about this was how all the Justice League members were old, and it was great seeing them have to come back.
    10. V for Vendetta and Batman: The Killing Joke, by Alan Moore. Moore really is the master of comics, and while not as good as Watchmen in my opinion, still two fantastic books.

Honorable Mentions: Batman: The Black Mirror, by Scott Snyder; Batman: Year One, by Frank Miller; and Green Arrow—Year One, by Andy Diggle.

Also shout-out to Wytches, by Scott Snyder, and Rocket Raccoon, by Scottie Young, both of which are currently in-progress but absolutely fantastic and would’ve made it on the top ten list otherwise.

Just finished booking flight and hotel for a week stay in Seattle at the end of February. I've never been there, let alone out of the country, so I'm super excited. It'll be mainly a solo vacation, as I've discovered that I like to do these things every couple of years.

I found a great little boutique hotel that looks very homey. It's right in the middle of the Belltown area, which apparently is one of the best places for cafes, shops, and seaboard walking. I get the feeling I'll be doing a lot of writing while I'm there!

On that topic, I've started to progress past the phase where one begins a book and then realizes that one needs to fill out more details of the story. I've always had the grand vision of this book with the important plot points, but realized that I needed a cast of characters. It's interesting as it starts out bigger than the beginning of A Play of Light due to the already established characters, but if I say more I would be spoiling some parts of the plot in Play right now.

Another interesting thing to note is that I was worried I was moving on too quickly, and would get stuck in writer's exhaustion after finishing Play. It seems not - I've been able to write a bit every day. The chapters are turning out a bit longer, which I'm happy with since it feels like Play's were a bit too short each time I post them now.

I may update again during or after Seattle. Look forward to that and perhaps a couple of pictures! =)

    Bionicle 2015 was released yesterday!

I have recited the Prophecy of Heroes, and six elemental heroes will soon rain down upon the island of my house in 2 to 3 business days.

  4. I like the parts and the gear functions. Kopaka must be working out, look at those shoulders!

Great film. One of Hans Zimmer's best scores, top-notch acting, absolutely stunning cinematography and effects. Wish I could've seen it in IMAX film projection...

  6. So around this time of year I hear a lot of scrooges trying to dampen the holiday mood by saying something along the lines of "You know, people commit suicide more often around Christmas. It's a shame how people get so stressed out over gifts that they end their lives."

Well, no more! Because that is 100% false!

I'm bringing this up right now because I've heard this four or five times in the last three days, and it annoys me incredibly. I don't even celebrate Christmas and I love the holiday season because of how cheery people get, and how they seem to be more generous, so people trying to dampen things by spreading misinformation about people dying gets under my skin. So please, next time someone tries to rain on the parade with that line, present the facts.

A bit of a heavy topic for BZP, but I think that saying "Hey, people aren't killing themselves in droves, things aren't as bad as you might think they are!" is an acceptable reason to delve into a heavy topic.

The fact that there are bigots on BZPower, or the fact that the same people are consistently bigoted on this site and still somehow have posting privleges?

Been browsing through old posts and blog entries. I realized how much I've grown since joining BZP. I first joined when I was in just 3rd grade, over 8 years ago...think how young you were in 3rd grade! Yet I was glued to a computer screen, for BZP, among other reasons.

I think back to my childhood and teenage years. So much of my life now is defined by the things I did here. It was through someone I met on BZPower that I first got into web development, which then inexplicably led me to work on KanohiJournal and other projects that let me hone my programming skills. I am now a freshman in college majoring in Computer Science.

It's all just really interesting for me. Looking back through my activity on this site is like seeing myself grow. I haven't been very active at all for the past few years, but I spent a lot of my formative ones on this site.

Cheers to BZP. It's played a bigger part in my life than I ever thought. If I could just get unbanned from the Facebook group...yeah, that's be great. :P

If you're one of the followers of this blog (major points if you still are), or if you're one of my closer friends on here (you know who you are), thanks for everything you contributed to my experience on BZP. After graduating high school, I realized we take friends for granted. So if you're one of the people reading this and we've communicated on this site before, ever, thanks to you. Wish you all the best! Maybe I'll post on here every so often. :)

Well, would you look at that, I have a blog now, isn’t that a delight?

Before I belt, I’d like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the one who made this possible: A certain Alaskan acquaintance of mine known as Voxumo. He had won a six-month premier membership voucher in a contest and decided to give it to me since he was already a Premier Member. I'm grateful to get this opportunity, or I would be if I honestly felt like I had a whole lot to say. I probably don't, but some worthwhile blurbs are bound to be rolling around in my head. So we'll see how many of those I can get on here in a proper and orderly manner.

Now, with that said, I’d like to start on a strong note, and I know just the thing, we’re in the middle of December, after all, and that makes the perfect opportunity to tell all you guys about someone who’s extremely important to me.

Before anything else, just take a listen to this:

What’d you think of that? Was it cute, comforting, serene or horrendously chaste? Music is pretty subjective, after all.

Well, to me, this sound is synonymous with the Christmas spirit… and with one of my all-time heroes.

    Say hello to Shoemaker Andersen:

    2.jpg

This guy… oh man, this guy. He’s from a Norwegian Christmas series that roughly translated is called “Christmas at Shoemaker’s Street”, and it’s a holiday tradition in my house to view it every Christmas.

Every day from the 1st of December to Christmas Eve, Andersen counts down the days to Christmas with us, taking a paltry 15 minutes of our time to share the day’s quaint, simple little lesson of the day.

And every year, I swear, ever single year when he squints through his glasses and says hello to me, an esteemed member of the viewing audience, I feel something warm and fuzzy tingle through me. There’s just something about that warm smile of his that never ceases to make me feel indescribably good in return, and that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

Shoemaker Andersen is a simple and gentle soul, and he never turns away someone in need, he always has time for other people, and he’s never unwilling to lend a helping hand to those who need it. Shoemaker Andersen’s earnestness and simple outlook on life is a blast to experience, year after year, as I delight in the charming environment he inhabits and the slew of other memorable characters that he interacts with:

Like the mail man, who no matter how busy he is, knows that there’s always a warm cup of coffee waiting for him at Andersen’s.

Or Police Chief Klinke, who secretly plays board games with Andersen once a month.

And let’s not forget Tøfflus, Andersen’s sentient slipper, who lives in his desk and whose favorite food is parsley (which is just fun to say and funnier still to type).

Shoemaker Andersen is one of my heroes; he’s someone I strive to be more like, for he’s a genuine inspiration to me: such kindness, such love he shows for his fellow human beings.

So a happy December to all, remember your heroes, because everyone needs them.

    Best wishes

    - Ole Fredrik Skjegstad

    Not Quite Dead
    Latest Entry

This is a TBRPG idea that's been churning in my head a little while. Some notes

    • Not set in the canon universe
    • Indeterminate amount of time / events between the old gods leaving and the new one messing with the world
    • The inhabitants / PCs do not know about the old Koros, Toa Nuva and any gods. Old or new
    • The story is kind of light on purpose. The main focus on the RPG is on exploration, discovery and loot. I want to have an interesting and somewhat somber world that people are encouraged to explore and develop characters and relationships in. The story (and IC backstory) is more a way of setting that world up than the main focus
    • Yes, the main form of travel and combat is via tanks

    Light on the back story

    Plot Setup

In this world, is Destiny controlled by some transcendental entity or law? Is it like the hand of God, hovering above?

At least it is true that we have no control; not even over our own will.

The death of our world is a long and drawn out affair. The brother deities Mata-Nui and Makuta had tired of and abandoned us long ago, taking with them the live and color of the world. Without light and shadow only drear grey remains. Rust and entropy claiming the history of our world and the minds that once chronicled it.

On the island of Mata-Nui, the city-states Vingt and Seize have long had an unstable peace. Equal in resources, size, population and advancement. They long ago withdrew behind their walls, content to sit and rust. Seeing their plight and taking what he considered pity, the trickster god Gwydion took our world into his hands and breathed new life into it. Influencing individuals within to rediscover ancient technology and knowledge.

Even then, this did not incite the island into conflict. Ever cautious, the two nations remained in ceasefire. Unsatisfied with the results, Gwydion created seven objects of great power, hiding them in Nomansland and incarnating into the world as a simple merchant, spreading rumors and riddles of the six sources of power. One was enough to destroy whole legions, whoever possessed all six would have power beyond their wildest imagining. Now the gears began to turn once more. Both nations funding and building up large armies, faculties science and research and preparing to send off great expeditions into the wastes, fallen prey to the whim of Gods once more.

    Mode of transport:

    Tanks

The island of Mata-Nui measures 357 kio from west to east and 178 kio from north to south, Nomansland occupying nearly two thirds of the landmass. The cities of Vingt and Seize are located in the remaining fertile land in the north and south east respectively. Because of the size of the island, travel on foot is impractical. Large Rahi that once served as mounts have gone extinct.

Most travel is done in heavy armor, colloquially referred to as tanks. They are one of the lost technologies that Gwydion revealed with his influence, an archaeological dig by the small independent city of Treize unearthing several tanks buried in the ices of Mt Ihu or bogged in the Marais Swamp. They were painstakingly reverse engineered, branching into several classes and categories of vehicle.

    Light Armor

Designed for speed and mobility, these are the smallest class of tanks. Vingt producing the Burnak and Seize the Kavinka. They require skilled pilots. The two stations being Driver and Gunner. The Driver must manage navigation via instruments and radio, the Gunner functions as optical navigator, loader and side-arm operator. This class of armor is equipped with a small coilgun and manual Kanoka-launcher, it is battery powered unlike it's larger cousins.

    Medium Armor

Designed as a compromise between the light and heavy classes, medium armor forms the bulk of an armored division. Vingt produces the Kane-Ra and Seize the Manas. Able to function effectively either in close formation or as a member of a one to three vehicle unit for more mobile operations. Piloting one is less strenuous on any one person, featuring seats for a Gunner, Driver, Radio/Navigator role and an optional seat for a Loader. Powered by petrol (another recent discovery) they have longer range and better acceleration than their light cousins, but are beaten in speed over time. They feature a heavy Kanoka-launcher and a secondary gun that can amplify the user's elemental energies for longer range attacks. Intended for use by Toa or Skakdi.

    Heavy Armor

Designed for stationary defense and fortress breaking. These models are rare and mostly kept to the cities as little actual fighting has occurred. They fill next to no role in the Nomansland expeditions because of their expense and lack of mobility. Vingt produces the Tahtorahk, Seize has plans for a larger Manas codenamed "Ash Bear", but has not put it into production as of yet. They require four pilots at minimum; Driver, Gunner, Loader and Radio/Navigator. With optional seats existing to split the Radio/Navigator roles or man the secondary weapons.

Being designed for city defense, they feature a larger variation of the coilgun found on light armor, powered by truly enormous batteries giving it a lethal range of several kio against other tank classes.

    "Fikou"

An experimental class of armor. The tread of the other classes is replaced with six legs, allowing the tank to traverse a far wider range of terrain and find the best firing positions. None have seen field use as of yet, the first models tentatively planned for deployment with the expeditions, in expectation of terrain impassable for conventional armor. Weapons, size and armor are similar to Light class vehicles.

    Quirks and locale

    The World

    BLK9k0h.png

    Vingt

One of the two remaining fertile zones of the island, Vingt is built on land made rich by the ash and soot from a long dormant volcano at the east end of the Ihu Mountain range. The capital city is built far to the north, atop the ruins of lost Ta-Koro

    Seize

The city-state of Seize was born in the other fertile zone, a natural jungle that stretches for dozens of kio. Thousands of years of working the land and native rahi taming the fierce environment. The capital stands over the remains of an ancient temple and the complex cave network below it. The catacombs are devoid of life, but spectres are said to haunt it's lowest levels

    Treize

A small independent city, they were the last bastion of science and activity in the rusting eras. Now, due to the island's renewed interest in the sciences. Treize has become a much larger area. It is able to remain independent from the larger Seize due to it's more advanced Armor, which is *CLASSIFIED INFORMATION* based

    Nomansland

The largest section of the island. It technically includes the Ihu Mountain Range, the subterranean city of the dead Ertrunken and Inselstein, a peninsula far to the northwest. The area commonly referred to as Nomansland is a vast stretch of urban rubble. Where the eastern third of the island features sparse vegetation, none grows here. Most of it is paved over with smooth rock and covered in buildings thought impossible to recreate. The knowledge of how it came to be has passed from living memory. Accurate maps no longer exist, once you cross from the mountains to the bizarre paved world, you are truly on your own

Subsections of Nomansland include the Ihu Mountain Range, a serious of peaks highest at the border between Seize and Vingt, crowned by a dormant volcano and a mountain tall enough to pierce the hazy clouds. An ancient observation facility is one of the last places you can see the stars on the island

Ertrunken is a vast network of caves. Many are filled with water or otherwise impassable, even less is explored here than Nomansland. The surface contains the remains of buildings similar to the northern wastes but the ground is covered in a curious glass-like green stone for kios at a time and the buildings melted and deformed, there are rumors of savages in some of the cave systems

Inselstein has no recorded maps or knowledge, it was not known of until one of the map-riddles contained crude directions and sketches of it

Okay, that is enough to write out for now, info on riddles, more maps, characters and rules are such are still tenuous. It looks a little worse on paper than in my head, but I'm confident that the basic idea of exploring a post-apocalyptic and mystery island with TANKS and searching for loot WILL work with enough hard work and guts.

I just found it in Alpha Sapphire! I wasn't even looking because that would be insane. Did they change the encounter system for Feebas from the original game?

Edit: Looks like they did. There's now a 5% chance of encountering Feebas on any tile. Carry on, then!

  10. Oh my gosh that new Star Wars trailer

    Yay, so awesome!! :D

So much for the "weekly" part of my blog, right? :bah-sign:

For this post I want to talk about the CCBS, which until a month or so ago, I really only had a casual experience with.

Now, I'm really enjoying it. Although it seems to be limited in terms of limbs and shells, the system itself has been surprisingly versatile to this Nut of Onua. After acquiring a few sets/parts from The LEGO Store and garage sales, and making a few Bricklink orders, I've managed to build a nice parts collection to build with. Currently I've made three finished MOCs (Including my Self MOC) and two which I'm still tinkering with; I hope to post pictures in BBC soon. I replicated the gear system from 2015 BIONICLE and incorporated it into one of my CCBS MOCs.

My favorite aspect, by far, of CCBS has been the ability to make sturdy, posable contraction figures which house gear functions. Both BIONICLE and Hero Factory had been lacking in that department for years. Having collected BIONICLE since the beginning, to me, gear functions have always gone hand-in-hand with the theme. I think that's why 2005-2007's sets were lost on my a little bit; they started losing that key element of functionality (and I don't count the yearly projectile weapons).

I've only replicated the gear-box and I'm already wanting to make more functional characters, so it will be quite exciting to make more when the new sets release with the actual part.

If I have any complaints with CCBS, it's the reuse of shells and chest pieces. I fully understand that this is partly an issue of cost and that re-using these parts allows the theme to grow in other ways, but after a while they start to look all too similar (even with all the recolored elements). My hope for the near future is that we can receive at least a new chest piece or one to two more armor shells to bring in some more options. Thankfully BIONICLE 2015 has already introduced some great new pieces to build with; I especially love the new shell clip-on part.

Here's to a happy MOCing future with CCBS; I'm sorry I didn't jump in sooner. Cheers! :pakari:

  12. I don't know? This freakin' website and it's freakin' inability to keep me away from it.

Okay, yeah, actually it's been doing a fair job of keeping me away from it, since it's been what, like, a year? Several years? I don't even know anymore.

    So, howsabout those Bionicles?

I'm currently rewatching/(watching for the first time since I only remember them beating Zophis) the series, subbed, and gah, I get so attached to Zatch and Kiyo's ally mamodo teams.

Yopopo, Danny, and Nya are the ones I got really attached to and absolutely didn't tear up when their books got burned. Not at all. Especially Danny.

Also on another note, Naruto is set to end this week. It's been a good run.

  14. This new building contest, (Battle for the Gold Mask) is one of the only Building contests in a long time that I've really gotten excited over. It definitely looks like I'll have to take out my technic pieces and build some sort of creation for this one! Although the chances of winning are small, I'm still very excited to see all the entries for this contest!

I've been toying around with some ideas in my brain about this project involving Kanohi masks. It is by no means going to be a complete mask collection, but more of a personal memento I want to create. Initially I wanted to include the great and noble masks together, however that is a larger aspiration that can be reviewed down the road. For now I just want to gather each of the original great Kanohi masks (this entry is partially going to serve as reference for myself).

All things considered though, if you have Kanohi you are willing to part with, know someone looking to get rid of them, etc. let me know!

This is organized by the amount of masks I currently possess, so I'm trying to gather the few I need first just to get an idea about how this might turn out.

So I got a Surface Pro 3 and was wondering if anyone know any programs that I should get in particular that take advantage of the Surface screen well? I haven't started using the pen much yet, but if anyone knows anything that might change that that would be cool. For example anyone know any good image editing/creating programs I could use with it?

  18. This was I a ditched script I wrote a few years ago. The breaks indicate when a comic would and where a new one would begin. I write long, continuous stories which I then break up, not as individual serials.

(marked with spoilers to condense text)

Sharnak wakes up being dragged by two vahki drones.

    SHARNAK: Ugh...

Sharnak looks up to see the two drones.

SHARNAK: Well, this is most unexpected. And weird.

DRONE #1: Be silent, semi-meatsack, or we will make it so.

SHARNAK: You don't know who you're dealing with do you?

DRONE #2: Your identity is known. You are Sharnak. You are designated as "Comic Maker."

DRONE #1: And you have a 7.3% chance of ever besting us in combat.

SHARNAK: That's not what I meant by--

DRONE #1: I said be silent! You will obey.

SHARNAK: Oh, I see. You two are the emotionless, logical robots. You know, the boring kind.

    DRONE #1: Be silen--

SHARNAK: Not that there's anything wrong with that. I mean, I guess they're improvements of the dumb, malfunctioning machines I work with. Just saying that they have less entertainment value.

DRONE #2: Your are to cease conversation! You will obey!

SHARNAK: Say, how did I get here anyway? I don't remember drinking any strange beverages.

    DRONE #2: OBEY!

SHARNAK: Not that I could ever go to a public place after the government branded me as a wanted pyromaniac.

DRONE #1: YOU ARE TO-- wait, what?

SHARNAK: I mean, it's not my fault that the fire got so out of control.

DRONE #2: YOU ARE TO CEASE MOVING YOUR JAW. YOU ARE TO CEASE MAKING THOSE HIDEOUS NOISES IN YOUR THROAT THAT YOU CALL SPEECH. YOU ARE TO--

SHARNAK: I was just trying to burn down one house. One. How was I supposed to know the flames would spread to house to house and engulf half the city?

DRONE #1: SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP---

SHARNAK: Although, in retrospect, it wouldn't have spread so much if I didn't assault the firemen.

DRONE #1: FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! SHUT! UP! PLEASE SHUT UP!

    [...]

SHARNAK: Robots believe in God? (ALT.: So, is the a Denny's around somewhere?)

    \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

    DRONE #1: There. We're here.

SHARNAK: You know, you didn't have to drag me here. I can walk.

    DRONE #2: Shut up.

    SHARNAK: Just sayin'.

DRONE #2: And I said shut up.

ANSARK: That is enough. I'd like a word with my counterpart.

[The two drones nod and fade away.]

    SHARNAK: Huh.

ANSARK: Greetings. I apologize for the means of bringing you here. Crude though they be, the means are sadly necessary in my line of work. Now, I am sure you have many questions. Rest assured that all will be--

SHARNAK: Yeah, I have one. Where's the local Denny's? I'm hungry.

ANSARK: .... As I was saying, all will be revealed in time. Now please--

    SHARNAK: Why not now?

ANSARK: What did I just say?

SHARNAK: That all will be revealed in time.

    ANSARK: Exactly. Now come--

SHARNAK: Well, now is a time.

    ANSARK: What?

SHARNAK: Now is a time. Time for Denny's. I want Denny's.

    [...]

ANSARK: You remember those two robots who dragged you here?

SHARNAK: The rude jerks who vanished in thin air? Yeah. What about them?

ANSARK: Funny thing about that. As you have noticed, my machines are quite similar to yours but with certain... modifications. Some have built in guns. Others have cloaking devices. The two you met have both. Also, some more trivia: They never left the room. They are currently holding you at gunpoint. They are about to fill your head with bullets if you continue speaking. Now, follow me.

    [...]

SHARNAK: What idiot manufactures invisible guns?

    \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

ANSARK: Welcome to my humble abode! I shall prepare diner at once. [Turns to Sharnak] And when I say "I," I mean you two drones.

[The drones turn visible, sigh and walk away.]

ANSARK: What are you waiting for? Take a seat. Make yourself at home!

SHARNAK: Um... there's no chairs. Or furniture. All I see are blank, metal walls.

ANSARK: Ah, yes. How silly of me!

Ansark claps his hands and a table rises out from the floor. Then the chairs.

ANSARK: Take a seat. You are now free to ask whatever you like.

SHARNAK: This isn't a date, is it?

ANSARK: What? No! This is not a date.

SHARNAK: Oh good! Sorry, but I could help but that vibe.

ANSARK: Being knocked out and dragged to an unknown location, against your will, makes you think you're on a date?

    SHARNAK: ... Yes.

ANSARK: I'm not even going to comment on that.

SHARNAK: Technically speaking, you just did.

    \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

ANSARK: Why are you so fixated on this? Why aren't you asking, you know, questions that are actually relevant?

    SHARNAK: Like what's for food?

ANSARK: .... I'll just provide the exposition without your assistance. I am you but from an alternate reality. I came here--

SHARNAK: Oh, so you're my evil counterpart.

    ANSARK: What?

SHARNAK: Well, isn't that how most alternate universe stories go? You travel between dimensional doors and then you find out it is populated by pure malice.

ANSARK: I can assure you that I am not evil.

SHARNAK: Likely story, evil me! Or should I say... me-vil!

ANSARK: If you must use an alternate name, refer to me as "Ansarhk." I went by that anagram a while back. Now, where was I?

    SHARNAK: You're me.

ANSARK: Right. We didn't get very far did we? Now please attempt to be formal. There are things that you need to know. I would not have brought you here if this wasn't a serious matter.

    SHARNAK: All right. Go ahead.

ANSARK: As I said, I am you from another world. I came to this world to seek refuge and, more importantly, to prepare.

    SHARNAK: Prepare for what?

ANSARK: Now those are questions I like. You see, there is an evil, corrupt force working it's wicked tentacles to destroy every fabric of society.

SHARNAK: So we are dealing with a power-mad octopus.

ANSARHK: Where this evil came from, I do not know. What I do know is that it's power is unmatched in both our universes and countless more. It will not stop. It cannot be reasoned with. Its only desire is to end life as we know it. Thankfully, I escaped its wrath and without detection. Ever since then, I dedicated my life to ending this nightmare

    SHARNAK: Seems legit.

ANSARHK: Immediately, I set out course to fight this. However, it is easier said than done. I tried speaking with your leaders, but like fools they refused to listen to. They called me mad. Insane! A delusional matoran living in his own fantasy.

SHARNAK: You're not helping to convince me that you're not evil.

ANSARHK: Oh, but I'll show them. I'll show them all! The question is "how?"

    SHARNAK: You're really not helping.

ANSARHK: I decided, if they would not listen to reason, I would use force. Quickly, I set up base inside a mountain so I could construct my plans in blissful isolation. Not all were successes, but my greatest achievement is the construction of my mechanical army. Mindless. Obedient. Extendable. Never stopping, never resting; I have created perfection.

    SHARNAK: Seriously, dude. Not. Helping.

ANSARK: However, even they have limits. I require assistance of someone who can better carry out my will. [stands up] Join me, Sharnak. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the multiverse!

SHARNAK: You're not even trying anymore.

ANSARK: We will rule the world!

    \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

ANSARK: What do you say, counterpart? Are you in?

    SHARNAK: Hm. Sure, why not?

ANSARK: YOU FOOL! Why uphold your petty honor and morals when there's-- wait, what?

SHARNAK: Yeah, I'm game. I always wanted to be an evil scientist ever since I was 5.

    ANSARK: Oh, okay...

SHARNAK: You had the whole "evil seduction speech" planned out, didn't ya?

    ANSARK: Yeah.

    [akward pause]

    SHARNAK: Now what?

ANSARK: I don't know. I never planned this far.

This script was scrapped due to a variety of reasons.

    1. Sharnak came across as too insane and violent than I wanded and I wan not satisfied Ansark's portrayal. Ansark's new characterization is that he's what Sharnak could become, not his total opposite.

    2. Writer's block. I had no idea how to continue the story where I left off.

    3. Lack of time to begin artwork.

If I return to comics expect element of this scene to carry over but played seriously.
