I went to NYCC on Friday and I am exhausted. My shoulder is absolutely destroyed and bruised from carrying my heavy bag on it for 11 hours. But it was sooo worth it. I met the author of The Looking Glass Wars, one of my favorite book series, and he is just an adorable guy, he was thrilled when I told him that I read the books in middle school 'cause he loves that so many kids enjoyed his stories and got inspired. I also met Randall Monroe, the xkcd author, and he signed a book for my best friend

Last week I passed by my local Lego Store and noticed that they had really big new displays for Bionicle 2015 up (before it was limited to the regular tiny shelf space like every other theme) so I stopped by today to snap pictures of 'em, and finally pick up a Protector and a Hero Pack. Totally wanna make Keetongu, but I'm pretty sure I have nowhere near enough CCBS parts for any sort of coherent creation, let alone enough keetorange. Here's hoping! But yeah, wouldn't it be neat to see a CCBS Keetongu? It looks like my late October schedule might've freed up, and I'll be able to finally go to Brickfair O: I've always wanted to go but it never worked out; I remember sending a Bionicle painting in to be featured at one of the Brickfairs in like 2009, but other than that... nothing. I was over at Nintendo World with my best bud for their trade-in event, where the first 250 people to present their original Ruby or Sapphire cartridge would get a free corresponding ORAS game. I'm back home in the city! Flew in last night after a wild night/morning, and with the ensuing head-melting headache and queasiness and the following jet lag from the flight keeping me awake, I basically ended up going straight to class without much rest. This is probably the most surreal thing that's happened to me lately. I went down to my regular grocery store 'cause we were all out of beverages. Got to bring my best friend with me to an early screening of Big Hero 6, my school hooked us up. It was really good, I was so impressed. Some really good storytelling there, and while the animation obviously wasn't Pixar, it was still pretty superb, they really put a lot of focus on bringing out every motion and those were some beautiful designs and textures for basically everything. I feel like the culture blend wasn't necessary as it didn't really play much into the actual movie, but it didn't
I can't believe this movie was two and a half hours long, 'cause it flew right by. Incredible. I love it. I'm just in awe. Gotta see it again just to really absorb everything cause there was so much going on. I love all the tracking shots. They must have really enjoyed the big New York City tracking shot from the first movie that was so famous, 'cause there's like at least three more in this one and they're all even more ambitious.
