I was having a conversation with a friend about a book by John Connolly which I recently bought a copy of, The Book of Lost Things, and went off into somewhat of a rant and decided that it would be an idea to talk about why John Connolly is my favourite author here. John Connolly has written quite a few novels, his most well-known likely being his crime ones, but they aren't what I want to talk about. I've read one of his detective stories, and I quite enjoyed it, along with a few horror stori
A lot of people have problems or feel down, and generally when they complain to me about these things I take the nice option and try to help them feel better. Some, however, tend to be just a little bit ungrateful, thinking that they can dump anything on me without the possibility of, y'know, hurting me. Because obviously being nice to people means that I can never be hurt or insulted. Fact of the matter is, like everyone else, I am human, and I do have feelings, and they can be hurt. In the pas
So, I've written quite a bit of stuff in the time I've been on BZP, and I've decided to just put my big works here in this blog post and maybe put a list in a sidebar like The Affably Evil Automaton has. The images serve as links. TIME-KEEPER SAGA (BIONICLE Epics) Credit to Shattered Mask Productions for the banner. Incommodo, Toa of Magnetism detective, is pulled into a plot that threatens time itself when he is captured by Ignotus, ancient Emperor of the Mystix.
I wrote a really, really short prologue for an epic. Wouldn't take much time to read and review it. Really wouldn't. You should go read it. I do have actual reasons for it being short and not terribly descriptive; the protagonist is a Ko-Matoran and it's written in the first person. I could be descriptive, yeah, and I tried to put in as much description as possible without seeming out of character, but still. Give five minutes of your time up to go over and read and review it. Please. (yes I rea
So, I've decided that I'll be making behind-the-scenes blog posts related to each chapter of my COT epic, Marked. They're in spoiler tags, in case you haven't already read the chapters. PROLOGUE CHAPTER 1 CHAPTER 2 CHAPTER 3 CHAPTER 4 CHAPTER 5 With each new chapter, I'll be updating this blog post with more information. - Vorex
Ah, 2012. How I despised you. Of course, there was the occasional good thing. Best Film: Seven Psychopaths. If you're legally able to and haven't done so already, watch it. It's a brilliant film. Best Song: lolnope Best Real Life Event: Not counting getting a girlfriend, because in the long run that did so much more harm than good, I don't think I really had one. So, um... that's it. Hoping 2013 will be a tad better. - Vorex NEW YEAR'S RESOLUTIONS Get a girlfriend with good taste in musi
So, last few days of my life. Usually, pretty boring. But on Wednesday, I triggered a series of events that have been referred to as an emotional rollercoaster, bouncy ball, and resonating mass-spring system. You all remember my ex? Of course you do. It's the only interesting thing I've ever blogged about. It was the talk of BZPower for a while, simply because a BZP'er getting a normal girlfriend is so uncommon. Because I have talked about it far too many times, I'm going to provide you with a c
Not mine, my ex-girlfriend's. Spoke to me for the first time since September today, even if it was only to thank me for wishing her a happy birthday. Thought it was worth noting. - Vorex
I was at a First LEGO League competition today. Ditched my team in favour of talking to one of the girls on the other side of the hall (until my wingman got jealous and screwed everything up). Got her name. Or not. Can't be sure. Waiting until I can get someone else to confirm whether or not the person I found when I searched the name she gave me in is her. Either way, I had a good time. - Vorex
...Is now my favourite song. Also, status update about my granny: my dad visited her in hospital; she's not doing well, but he says that the doctors don't believe it's time to gather around her bedside yet. However, there was an unnerving amount of emphasis on the 'yet', and I can't help but worry that I'm going to lose a second grandparent this year. - Vorex
