Log Entry 3: No no nonononono What It was going so well Things stared out OK. Sure, I accidentally killed my first encounter on Route 6, and then accidentally killed the Snorlax of Route 7, but I had an excess of Smeargles anyway, right? And Route 7 was fun! The riverside, the artists, the Smeargle-obsessed NPCs, hilarious 4-Smeargle double battles, great moves to sketch. Even a field move! Playing Pokemon was, tragically, not a priority for this last week. But there has been progress! New Smeargle's names are in bold, as are new moves. Log Entry 2: I'm realizing now that perhaps the greatest challenge of this Nuzlocke will be finding good moves to Sketch. They're there, I know, but I'm not going to use outside resources to plan out movesets, save for my memories of previous XY runthroughs. (Get hype for someone to sketch Oblivion Wing!) For my big math paper, my IB IA, I decided to do a calculus project. Because statistics projects are too mainstream. I decided to do something Lego-related, and optimized the cost of making a rectangular prism and a cylinder. Turns out, Lego has width and makes everything hard. The upshot is that I got to cite BrickLink in a scholarly essay.
I'm sure someone's done it before, but I'm ditching my Nuzlocke in favor of a more interesting Smearglelocke of my own design. Nuzlocke rules, but every time I catch a Pokemon, I must immediately trade it for a level 10 or below Smeargle. Smeargle only learns Sketch. Once Smeargle uses Sketch to copy a move, he only learns Sketch again every ten levels. A couple of Youtubers I like are doing Nuzlockes, which really made me want to do another one with Pokemon Y. This meant spending most of today getting Zygarde, Mewtwo, and Articuno on my previous Pokemon Y Nuzlocke file to transfer to Omega Ruby. And while I was at it, I spend hours trading items and 'mons over to Ruby, so I wouldn't have to collect the Mega Stones again or save up battle points for items. I've been reading the comic Frazz from the beginning in between homework assignments. Frazz tends to wear different graphic tees, he finally wore one with a Triforce. Or a delta symbol, or something. I'm going to assume the cartoonist is awesome and it's a triforce. What am I doing with my time.
60 coins from Platinum in Club Nintendo. I'm pretty far from any worthwhile physical prizes, which makes me really sad. I was really hoping that my backlog of Club Nintendo points would net me that Majora's Mask Jigsaw Puzzle or some posters. Turns out that several of the cards have expired. I guess I can get a downloadable title or two? Nothing really jumps out at me.

Nintendo should make Toad compatible with SSB4 like all of the other Amiibo. Tapping the Amiibo would unlock a Peach figure player... Except the only move she knows is her neutral special.

So I'm Dungeon Master for a D&D group now. (Some people wanted to join, so our old DM lead their group, and I, having conveniently and spectacularly died, DM'd our old group.) Our bard summoned a cello above a paladin. The paladin succeeded in his reflex save, and the cello slammed into the cold hard floor of the temple, shattering. The party proceeds to blow up the temple. Five minutes later, all action halts as we all realize that none of us made a "drop the bass" joke.

Christmas was amazing. Chrono Trigger was absolutely fantastic. Shovel Knight is pretty amazing. Tahu the 2nd and Kopaka the 2nd are both really, really great. I am super hyped for the Nintendo Direct tomorrow morning. If school is out because of icy weather then I'll catch it live, otherwise I won't get to see it until late tomorrow night. Please stop telling me to take the SAT again. I took it once, I am happy with my score. I realize that many students score better if they take it again. You can stop sending that email over and over. I am also smart enough to realize that, statistically, about 50% of students would do better their second time, even if they didn't get any better at math and writing and everything. So you can see how your emails are pointless. And should stop.
