Spring Training Showdown

The Nationals and Cardinals had a faceoff in Florida yesterday, after a few pitches were thrown "just a bit inside". The benches cleared, although no punches were thrown. Later on, there were some more beaned batters for the Nationals after Nyjer Morgan (Yes, the same Nyjer Morgan who took out the Marlins' catcher last season) ran into Albert Pujols on the way to first base, although Morgan and the Cardinals' pitcher, Chris Carpenter, claimed the collision and the hit batters were unintentional.

When Did I Get A New Rank?

Ice Warrior defeated. Too bad. The good news of course is that I'm that much closer to the big blur of all the destroyed Bohrok-Kal.     Also, come March 25, I get an Olmak spinny.

I'm So Happy...

Only ONE MLB expert said that he picks the Cubs to win the division.   Why am I so happy about that? Two reasons.   1) The fact that ANYONE picked the Cubs.   2) The fact that the same amount of experts picked the Reds to win it last season.

St. Patrick's Day

My dad has this stupid, embarrassing joke that he always tells about a can of bean soup made in Ireland with 239 beans in it.   If I'm lucky, we won't go anywhere so that he doesn't tell it to anyone else this time.

Mark Hamill Vs. Mark Hamill

LEGO never told you what happened to BIONICLE.   It's Play 3: "Direct Confrontation", and it's awesome. I somehow combined spoofing, irony, and satire all in one comic! I'm a GENIUS!   At least, I think it was hilarious.

New Poll Update

A few questions were raised by TN05 concerning the validity of using this poll as a reference for how much BZPower really likes HF. My reply contains a few of the more specific goals of the poll, as well as a few of the newer stats.   In addition, 42 said they didn't care, and 12 nulled. You do the math to figure out percentages--I'm a little busy. I will tell you that 62% are on the Liker's side of the spectrum, while only 20% are on the dislike side.

Hf Is Down 9% At The Close Of The Market

After 206 votes, a grand total of 135 people said they were on the "like" side, for 66% of BZPower members. That's down 9% from yesterday's 75%, but still a strong majority. Of the 206, 35 voted on the "dislike" side, resulting in a percentage of 17%--only a 2% gain for the Hero Haters of BZPower. 27 of the 206 didn't care, for a total of 13.71%, while 9 have nulled, for 4% of the vote.   Of the 135 pro-HFers, 38 said they were big fans (28% of the likers, 19.29% of all of BZP), 75 said they li

And The Market Closes At...

Currently, after approximately 130 votes, about 75% have said that they are on the "Like" side of the spectrum, and only a little less than 15% were on the "dislike" side of the HF poll.   29% of those who like it are big fans, 58% of the likers say they like it moderately, and 13% of them said they only liked it a little more than they disliked it. A total of 91 people voted on the "Like" part of the spectrum.   Of the dislikers, 28% said they hated Hero Factory, 28% said they disliked it mod

Do You Like Hf?

http://www.bzpower.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=334223   By the time this poll is done, we'll know whether BZPower actually hates HF as much as some people would like you to think.

The Fight For First

(As you guys know, I enjoy writing about sports, and plan to be a sportswriter in the future. I recently wrote an article about a minor league hockey game I went to. I've replaced a few words so that you can't know where I live, and I've surrounded those in brackets. A few of the replacement names have some significance, particularly of those who fought each other, but most of them are just random things that popped into my head.)   The first ever team of playoff-bound [Ko-Metru Seers] began t

Hockey Weekend Across America

This was a really great weekend for me, mainly due to Hockey Weekend. On Friday I wore my Blackhawks practice jersey all day (Friday was the "Wear your hockey jersey" part of the weekend, as declared by USA Hockey); played NHL 11 on our XBOX 360 after school, and watched the Columbus Blue Jackets-Chicago Blackhawks game on Comcast SportsNet Chicago in the evening. On Saturday, I once again wore my Blackhawks jersey all day (but that was only because it is the only hockey-related article of cloth

30 Clubs--30 Days; Prince Al Vs. The 'birds, Comic Caption

Firstly, the final Comic Caption winner of the '10-'11 offseason: Xidash. Expect comic captions to return after the 2011 World Series. BTW, Sumiki and Legolover-361 tied for first in the CCCs with 3 wins apiece.   Secondly, as Spring Training rolls on in, so does some new features to the BaseBlog. First, is a new name: BaseBlog: Spring Training, and secondly, 30 Clubs in 30 Days.   30 Clubs, 30 Days is a ripoff based on MLB Network's 30 Clubs in 30 Days preseason television show, which starts

Comic Caption 12

First, the winner, Legolover-361.   And then, pitcher Braden Looper is looking a little loopy:     EDIT: As a result of the low number of entries, this Comic Caption Contest will last beyond this Thursday, and will stay open for entries two weeks. I will bump it Thursday, however.

Congrats To The Packers

I was rooting for the Packers, but I expected the Steelers to win. Of course, what I didn't expect was very poor Steelers play in the first half, but all those dropped passes by Green Bay receivers gave them a shot.   Anyhow, congratulations. If my local stations showed the Packers more, I'd probably follow them. But they don't, so I'll just remain neutral.   BTW, I'm in Wisconsin right now. Everyone seems really happy. I wonder why?

How Surprising...

For the second game in a row, the Blackhawks had Marty Turco in net.   Also for the second game in a row, there were four goals allowed.   QUIT USING TURCO, JOEL QUENNVILLE! One would think you had learned to use the hot goaltender when Niemi carried you to the Stanley Cup, while Huet sat on the bench. Crawford is our guy--USE HIM!   Sorry, folks. I'm just irked that we gave up the two points that the Hawks would have gained on the two top teams in the conference had we won.   Doesn't help

Wrigley Field Blows Its Top

The oldest ballpark in the National League of Professional Baseball clubs had a section of its roof blown off by the blizzard that is sweeping through the Midwest and now hits the Windy City, with a wind so powerful it took a chunk out of one of Chicago's oldest and most famous landmarks.   Hopefully, there will be no further damage, and a quick repair can be finished before April 1st when the Cubs start up the 2011 season against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Please, Joel Quennville

Don't use Marty Turco as anything but a backup anymore. He lets in three goals a game on anything but his very best days, and we have a potential Calder Trophy winner in Corey Crawford.   But in the meantime, focus on beating the Blue Jackets in Nationwide Arena tonight.   (Really though, Turco's Vezina finalist days are far behind him, to say the least.)

Roast Bear

On NFL.com, they have a report of a guy in Minnesota who plans to roast an actual bear in support of the Packers.   A Bears fan then replied by asking if anyone knew how much cheese was consumed by Chicagoans.
