Looks Like There's A New Rule In The Library...

Needless to say I disagree, for a variety of reasons, but seeing as it comes from the administration I get the strangest feeling it's not going to change anyway.   Just in general, I've always been irritated by how people who aren't doing anything wrong are forced to accommodate the loud, closed-minded complainers and proselytizers who can't mind their own business or accept that others can think differently from themselves. Rules against foul language and mature content I can understand, but h

So I Just Had A Thought

It just occurred to me that basically, the Aeneid is Homer fanfiction.   Actually this thought might have occurred to me before, except I forgot. So... it recurred to me?   Anyway see my previous entry.

So I Made A Plot Twist Today

52-pickup, updated on Sundays as always...   Since I doubt many people will find the above link interesting I may as well do this again.   Oh yeah, today's episode of Rideback was amazing.

And Now For Some English Language Fiction

Surprising, no? Well, I still read novels, still a sci-fi nut.   First, of course, just to get it out of the way, allow me to vent for a moment on my latest headache with learning kanji. Okay look at this. AAAARGH! Homophones I was expecting, it's obviously going to happen extremely frequently in a syllable-based system-- actually I could go off on another tangent about phonemes and syllable-based languages but anyway... homophones are not too bad to deal with, they occur even more frequently i

Zetsuboushita!

(click on image for higher res, if available)     See previous entry. More after the jump.   No Matarou, because technically she's modest but I'm not gonna push BZP's rules (at least the artist was accurate).   Didn't make these; I do take issue with the Chiri one since that's impossible. No I'm not uploading all the full res individual ones.                 And a bunch I couldn't be bothered to resize to 600 px wide or less. http://www.majhost.com/gallery/zero0zero/S.

Organic Chemistry

Best. SHP course. For a second semester senior. EVER.   So basically we do labs and take a break in the middle to eat free food that the teacher brings. This week and last week we've been making aspirin.   And we're not even always on task in the labs. This week (today, that would be) the teacher was like, "Okay I don't have all the materials for the next step so while I go get them ready you can all play with the dry ice over there."   ... I'm sure you can imagine. People came up with some c

Nice Boat

Today we had a day off, because of staff development or something. I should be doing work but I really don't feel like it... second semester senior and all. Anyway, that means a four day weekend. Wewt.   Went to bed at nearly 3 last night... woke up today around 10:30. I blame CoalGuys releasing Toradora 19 subs at 1:40ish in the morning.   Hweeeell tomorrow's Valentine's Day, eh? Barely realized it was coming. Eh. Indifferent.   Today is Friday the 13th! Superstitions abound.   Er. I don't

And Yet Again Kadokawa Says Nothing Of Value

So someone on another forum put it aptly. To paraphrase:   "We know something Haruhi is coming this April. We just have no idea what. Thank you Kadokawa."   At least it's not an outright denial since Newtype didn't explicitly say it was a rerun and they used images obviously from Disappearance... in the end however, all the news was utterly ambiguous. *sigh* Well, as I was a latecomer to the fanbase, this hasn't happened to me before... I feel sorry for the people for whom this is the fourth t

Back With A Vengeance!

Anyone remember this girl? If not filename should clue you in.   Ah, she's fun to draw. Doodled her this morning while waiting for class to start. Anyway. I've been working on my skills at clothes. Recently doodled my sleeves and jeans in class for practice. I think I've gotten marginally better, as in the above doodle. Oh yeah, suffering from giraffe syndrome as often happens when I doodle the head first and decide to tack on the body afterwards. Tried to move her shoulders up a bit digitally

More Discouraging News...

Resolution is terrible, but you can make out "Kyoto Anime-shon" on the last line of the Staff credits.   So I guess it's final, K-On is KyoAni's spring show. Not that they can't work on two shows at once (they're doing so this season) but Munto TV (which actually has a stupidly long full name) is basically an OVA remake... makes the news of Haruhi S2 even less likely.   I'm still holding out on the fact that, well, they devoted the whole darned front cover of Newtype to the announcement. They'

100th Page Passed

Stats:   Total document page length: 107 (102 story, 5 notes) Total word count: 33,332 (31,250 story, 2082 notes) Filesize: 357 kB   Well, I do my best not to bother everyone too much with updates on how my writing's going, but these past few days I've just gotten back into the rhythm so I'm feeling pretty good about this. I'm about halfway through chapter 12 (although the hardest part is yet to come) so I've got my buffer zone back.   And some of my favorite scenes so far occur in the past

Suzumiya Haruhi No Shoushitsu: April 2009

According to screenshots from a TV commercial for the March issue of Newtype magazine of the cover of said magazine posted on a relatively reliable site that I can't link to due to forums but I watched an upload of the commercial myself and it looks pretty darned legit, the new season of Haruhi is announced for April of this year and while I would not be surprised if KyoAni were pulling our legs again let me just take this moment to say   HECK. YEAH.

Am I The Only One Surprised By This?

I learned today that the song "Happy Birthday To You" is technically copyrighted in the United States until 2030. Which is why you never hear it on TV or in movies, only variations or songs like "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow."   Am I the only one who didn't know this until now? o_O

Sick Day

"Hi!"   "Hi."   "Long time no see!"   "Yeah."   "How is you?"   "Eh, fine I guess. Still hanging around next to T. You hear anything about U?"   "I has no idea."   "Yeah, neither does J."     ... that actually has nothing to do with the rest of this entry. Just an anecdote I don't think I ever shared. (I'm the second speaker BTW)   So I wasn't on the intertubes at all for most of yesterday. That is because I was sick. That is also why I happen to be on the 'tubes right now, instead of

Busy Day

Spent most of the day at PUMaC, the Princeton University Math Competition (you can't pronounce "PUMC" after all).   Man those tests were hard. And I mean hard. Hard as in, "How the heck do I even start this problem?" hard.   It's not even obscure topics so to speak, except for maybe the number theory stuff. The four categories for individual tests were algebra, geometry, number theory, and combinatorics; each person on the team took two. I took algebra and geometry, in hindsight perhaps I shou

Sai

Just watched a video of someone drawing in SAI.   WANT.   -PRETTY VECTOR LINES AND FILLS. I cannot go on about this enough. -Flip, rotate, and zoom your drawing viewpoint, without ever changing the actual orientation of your canvas. -Exports to .psd. -Scratchpad. -Masking and clipping. -Starts up in seconds. -5 megabytes. FIVE. MEGABYTES. WHAAAAAT.

Oops

Either Maj is down or I just broke my Maj account. Old uploads are fine, but I can't upload anything else, and thumbnails have gone screwy.   ...   Oops.   As you may be able to guess, this entry was going to be about something else, but the relevant picture...

Distractions

For some reason, I can draw (in fact, prefer to do so) and do most of my homework (Latin, Physics, math, etc.) with music on... but I'm unable to write very well. Be it an essay or a story, if I'm actually putting thought into it (which means my Global Studies essays don't count; they're 90%, er... "filler material" [as the actual term is not allowed on BZP]) I can't concentrate right if something's playing in the background.   That was a lot of parenthetical statements. Anyway. Off to turn off

Kanji

AAAAAAARGH STOP DOING CONFUSING AND UNCONVENTIONAL STUFF THIS IS HARD ENOUGH TO LEARN ALREADY.   (by the way I'm not actually watching this show; I came across the Japanese title on Wikipedia or something and wuz like, "Wait, doesn't that say "uchuu"? Not that that's a really useful or practical word to have in my kanji vocabulary... I kinda just know it. XD)

A Question Of Modern Etiquette

Somebody has headphones on and is listening to their MP3 player. The volume is so loud that the people around them can hear the music. Somebody else yells at them to turn the volume down.   Who is being rude and selfish, the person who is blasting their music or the person who yells at them to turn it down?   I tried to write that unbiased but if you know me or have read an entry I made some time ago, you'll know which side I'm on. I want to see whether I'm the only one who is bothered by this
