Back From Dixie

Brappy Hour

I had a great time at my Order Of the Arrow Dixie Fellowship this weekend. Lots of stuff happened that is hard to recollect, because I'm not too great at describing things in text.

First off my Lodge; Tsali, held the fellowship at our camp. So it was real fun to know where to go for stuff. I also got to stay in a cabin my troop had been working on for a few months. I actually got a decent night sleep!

Anyway, my lodge won lodge of the year again, plus placed first in Indian Drumming and Indian Dance Group. I recorded all the competition stuff on my video camera.

Did some patch trading too, got a few good ones, but the most important is when I let my brother borrow a patch I had to trade for a rare one he was looking for. In return he owes me a lot. So far I now have some more 2005 National Jamboree Halo patches. The best one has Master Chief with a Pelican ship in the background.

We also had some V.I.P.s like the National Lodge Chief, and were told that our Fellowship is the best in the country!

So that's about it. If you would like to see any pics of patches, or have any questions. Feel free to ask.

Section SR-5 is no match for W1-S. Everybody knows West is Best, and we also know that Section W1-S is the best in the west, so obviously we are the best. :P

But we're also too poor to afford a National Officer or Immediate Past National Officer, so you're just going to have to take my word for it.

Were you on the Conclave/Dixie committee? I'm on W1-S's Conclave committee, so I know that the section is responsible for paying the airfare and any expenses the National Officer has to visit.

If you were on the committee, then you would have attended Council of Chief meetings before the Conclave itself, months ahead. Since we use the term "Conclave Vice Chief" in place of "Chairman," assuming they are equivalent, I don't know for sure what your duties are or if you attended such meetings. I have, so I'm aware of how Conclaves are budgeted and organized, as well as the fact that the Section, as per National rules, pays for the Officer visiting.

However, if you were in those meetings, maybe you could tell me that your Section somehow does things differently.

Well. I have been to many meetings and work days before the event. There were different jobs for different people. I had to make a list of what items we needed for events and what the cost may be.

I apologize if I'm saying it wrong. Your descriptions are making me feel a bit ignorant.

Lol, sorry if you feel that way -- I'm totally not trying to make that effect. I'm just very confused about how a section is able to get a National officer for free. I mean, if Hillis came from your section, I'd rethink that, but otherwise it seems unlikely.
