Mylo Xyloto
So... I got Mylo Xyloto, Coldplay's new album today, and I have to say I really like it. First of all, if you listen to it all in a row, it tells the story of two lovers through the songs. Another cool perk about listening to it as an album is the fact that there are three "interlude" songs, each of about 40 seconds, that serves to break up the story and provide transitions.
My favorite songs on the album, however, are songs 3 and 4, Paradise and Charlie Brown. I believe summarize the more surreal/melancholy side of Coldplay's music, which I happen to like very much.
The album art is also very interesting, and I think it reflects the "theme" of the album, if you will. It's very clean on the outside, but inside the M and the X there is a complicated sea of color, which relates to the album's "window" into a possible life story. I don't know if that's how you all will see it, but that's how I look at it.
And as an added bonus, the music video for Paradise is both funny and sad at the same time.
So, that's my little music review for today.
