<p>I see.

On another note, I decided to randomly put the names of my characters through Google Translate and see what their names translated into English would be. Most of them didn't have any translations, except for Septimus and Naona. I knew that Septimus was Latin for 'The seventh', but I didn't expect Naona to be Swahili for the pronoun 'I'.

Swahili.

Ah, this seems interesting. I shall now embark on a fascinating look at each of my characters' names...

  • Merror - came up with this ages ago. No idea what I got it from. No connection to 'mirror'
  • Stralix - again, original, though I later noticed that it's a combination of three Glatorian names: Strakk, Malum, and Tarix
  • Lohkar - inspired by the Lohrak, and Loki, the Norse trickster god
  • Zadron - came up with him just as they were first making the LHC (2007, or something) and so Hadron + a cool letter = Zadron
  • Echelon - IMHO one of the coolest words in the English language; means 'level' or 'class'
  • Krohlen - original
  • Lemaku - original (despite it looking like a combination of Le and Maku)
  • The Illusionist - ...do I need to explain?

Pirok: From Piruk, my first Matoran.

Proditor: Latin for 'traitor'.

The Shadow: Sounded cool, and at the start he was a lurk-in-the-shadows villain. He's one now, too, considering he's 'dead'. (Side note: Real name is 'Krahkaan')

Invisible: He used his Mahiki to blend into his surroundings, making him 'invisible'. (Real name 'Huna')

Pulse: The one thing dead people don't have, Pulse originally having worn a Tryna. (I've forgotten his real name) Also, he was heartless.

Ignotus: Latin for 'unknown' (unfortunately also Latin for 'ignorant'), as the Mystix were completely unheard of.

Incommodo: Latin for 'inconvenience' or 'annoying'.

Kraal: Made it up.

Laz: Can't explain that one, but his search for immortality should be enough of a clue.

?: Her name is unknown. (Just kidding, my epic 'Shadows' revealed that her name was Aru, but I just made it up)

All my BIONICLE RPG characters so far:

War Zone:

Katuko - Myself. Made up on the spot when I created this account. No deeper meaning.

Cereah - A Toa of Psionics, comes from "cerebral", like the Ce-Matoran in general.

Lithree - A Toa of Lightning, named after the Final Fantasy spell "Lit-3" ("Lightning 3", later renamed "Thundaga").

Toshi - Started out as a mutated lizard thingy, so he was named after Yoshi.

Curto - A doctor, named after FF like Lithree. This one was "Cur-2" (Cure 2, later renamed "Cura").

BZP RPG:

Madrihk, Mevi, Naru: No real meaning.

Mita: Musician, Toa of Sonics. "Mita" is a Maori word for " rhythm, intonation, pronunciation and sound of a language, accent."

Ferrin: Like Fe-Matoran, named after the Latin word for "iron".

I like names with meanings, but I don't go out of my way to find them except when stuck on what to name a character.

I'm going to do what Katuko did. Will add more as I remember them.

Old BZPRPG:

Mangai-Hau - My username at the time. As you can guess, I was a bit more of a nueb than I thought I was. It roughly means 'Protector-Shield'-apt because of his role.

Exlaas - 'Ex' for 'outer'. The 'laas' was my attempt to make him sound less like Excalibur.

Gadeli - 'Ga' and 'De' are the matoran prefixes for 'Water' and 'Sonics', respectively. 'Li' was added because I liked the flowing and soft sound.

Viveloc - Strangely enough, this name came from Latin 'vita' for 'life' and 'velociraptor'. Don't ask me why I chose to build a portmanteau of those for such a char.

Nalsk - This name came from 'Na', the elemental symbol for sodium-more commonly known as one half of table salt's compound. 'Lsk' sounded harsh to me at the time and Siberian, so I added it.

Odin, Thor, Magni, Babha, and Macha - All these names are from mythology. Odin is the ruling god in Norse mythology, the one-eyed god of storms and war. The character in-RPG had weather control and only one eye as well. Odin has four servants who answer only to him: Two wolves and two ravens. Thor is one of his sons and Magni is one of Thor's sons, both who serve Odin. In-RPG, they were his wolves. The ravens were named Babha and Macha after the two split personalities of the Morrigan-a Celtic crow goddess who rules over war.

Phogu - Derived from 'phagus', Greek for 'eater'. Again, please do not ask me why I named him for that.

Mars - Named for the Greek god of war. And rightly so-Mars has slain ten makuta and is very, VERY good at fighting.

Early Days:

Vrainut - I remember the 'v' was placed there because it sounded quick to me. I'm not sure from what the rest of his name is derived.

War Zone:

Mangai - My old usernames included 'Mangai' for a time.

Riglax and Nova - Named for two of my online buds who didn't RP at the time.

CPU - Good ol' 'Computer Processing Unit' seemed excellent for a tech-head.

Elda - ...Still not sure how he got this.

New BZPRPG:

Viper - A viper is a particular kind of snake that strikes at high speed and is an excellent hunter due to its ability to sense heat. Guess what Viper is good at.

Vezoro - Portmanteau of 'Vezok' and 'koro'. Makes sense given his personality...I think.

TIoP:

Grotir - Strangely enough, this name came from 'Groetterdammerueng'-German for 'twilight of the gods'. She is essentially a herald of the apocalypse.

Stokunde - Derived from the Deutsch words for 'stoic' and 'gravity'. It's a perfect match for its personality and powers.

Bonnae Gud - Comes from Scots for 'Beautiful Good'. Doesn't make much sense in meaning, but reinforces his birth.

Isjir Jukar - Initials are a tribute to Indiana Jones. I don't remember where the rest of this name came from.

BZIII:

Aexias - Doesn't have any meaning and is wholly original. I chose it for its easy, rolling sound and gentleness.

Hau - Is matoran for 'shield'; ironically, he is nothing of the sort, and especially not in combat (his fighting style only parries and deflects while it's blitzing). But I thought the name would be pretty common due to its meaning.

Keinju Sarusuma - 'Keinju' is a mishmash of German and Japanese sounds. 'Sarusuma' is derived from Japanese 'Sarutobi', the last name of a legendary ninja. 'Suma' is also Japanese, but I only found out after creating Keinju that said letter combination is actually the name of a town in Japan. Apparently it's famous for its beaches...Who would've guessed ace second-in-command to an army would've been so mundane in name?

Knife and Edge - These names are self-explanatory.

So my BZPRPG Character Names?

Old BZPRPG

Arkrak - Made it up on the spot.

Stronin Empato Nobies - Made it up on the spot. Empato means 'tied' in Spanish though, and Nobies for some reason translates to Nobia from Swedish.

Ril - Made it up on the spot.

Najin - He was supposed to be a ninja, but I went: 'screw it' and made him a mad scientist. Surprisingly, according to Google Translate Najin is Slovenian for Our.

Paksan - Made it up on the spot.

Holion - Made it up on the spot.

Lasinia - Needed a feminine sounding name.

Daxon Nolusin - Needed a high class sounding name.

Omasi - I made it up on the spot, and needed a feminine and awesome name for an AI, so I came up with this. Surprisingly, it means Yours in Finnish, which fits.

Hni Ragnon - Made it up on the spot. Ragnon is one letter away from the Italian word for Spider though.

New BZPRPG

Arkrak - See above.

Stronin - See above.

Ril - See above.

Darylhii - Made it up when I was seven.

Septimus - Latin for 'The Seventh'

Naona - Needed a feminine name, and if you were to change the first two letters of Naona you'd get my sister's name. It also means 'I see' in Swahili, or 'I', or 'I find'. Fits for a guard/cop.

Rannin - Made it up on the spot.

Uyism - Randomly typed in letters.

Lux - Apparently, it's latin for 'light'

Plagia - Has a whole bunch of different meanings, but I kept getting 'plagiarize' most often.

Renen - Swedish for 'reindeer'. Did not know that.

Katan - Based off the word 'katana', a japanese sword.

Simul - The last names of Plagia and Rynekk, it's latin for 'together' or 'at the same time'. Actually pretty accurate.

Raleo - Latin for 'principle' and spanish for 'thinning'.

Calam - Portugese for 'silent'. Ironic because she most certainly isn't.

Will add more as I remember them.
