Skye Can't Connect - Help!

Hi, everybody. Recently (as in, starting last month) I haven't been able to get onto my Skype account. Every time I put in my username and password, it tries loading and then says "Skype can't connect" above the username and password boxes, thus preventing me from connecting to my account.

 

Yes, I've upgraded it, but it still doesn't work. So, fellow Skype users, have any of you ever run into this kind of problem before? If so, how did you resolve it?

 

I really need an answer because I still need Skype for several things and I'm tired of not being able to get past the startup screen. All help appreciated.

  • Are you behind a firewall?

What ISP are you using?

What device are you using? (Laptop, smartphone, desktop, etc)

Did you do anything with your internet connection around the time it stopped connecting?

1) No idea what a proxy is, so I can't say

 

2) Not sure

 

3) I'm not sure what an ISP is, so same as 1

 

4) Laptop. Specifically, an Acer Aspire 3680 (I think that's what it's called)

 

5) To my knowledge, I didn't do anything to my internet connection when it stopped connecting. It just stopped connecting one day and it's been like that ever since
