Halo PC

You know, when the leak of Halo 1-3 on the Steam database happened two weeks ago, I was so excited! These games have a bearable control scheme now! I can actually play them! (Well OK, I already play Halo 1 on the PC, and there is a Halo 2 for PC that I've never played. But I digress.)

And then one day later, Microsoft said "lol no we're not putting Halo 3 on PC, or any Halos on Steam why would you think that"

I just want you all to know that I'm still bitter.

(What do you mean, "seriously bro it's just a video game calm down"?)

Why would you make a shooter console exclusive. That is the WORST decision for a shooter.
That certainly seems to be stopping Halo from selling well. Hate to break it to you, but the console market is an order of magnitude larger than the PC gaming market.

That's not to say I don't enjoy PC gaming or think it's dumb - I have a custom-built PC I use for nothing but gaming. It's just a fact. There's less money to be made releasing for PC so it's hardly the worst decision that could be made.

Oh, yeah, business wise it's great. Ain't nobody saying otherwise, except me when I don't specify, I guess. But, just, gameplay. Ugh.

HATE playing shooters on consoles. Camera moves all wrong and the two analog sticks are just a funky setup.

If Bungie/Microsoft/whoever is in charge is so arrogant that they aren't even going to recognize there's a PC fanbase, then they don't deserve my money anyways.

Truth be told, I'm not a Halo fan in the slightest. But even I might be persuaded to purchase the titles if they were on a decent sale or something.

Are there any sale statistics you can show that proves this? As a whole, I might agree with you, with there being a total of three current-gen consoles - but Halo has been Xbox exclusive for quite some time. Halo 3 sold 12 million copies, which is the exact same amount Half Life 2 sold (the vast majority which are PC copies), and only one million more than Battlefield 2 (a multiplayer-only FPS) sold as a PC exclusive. Plus, Steam prints money, so releasing Halo on it would almost certainly squeeze millions more sales out of the series (especially Halo 3, which unlike the first two games has never recieved a PC port).

Did I just start a console vs PC thing

Well I suppose my "bearable control scheme" stuff and all was kinda asking for it actively participating in it

The reaction to the news (before MS shot it down) was overwhelmingly positive, so I think there's some truth in this. A Halo PC (re)release would squeeze a lot of dough out of games that aren't currently making any money or selling any Xboxes (read: Halo 1-3).

It's not that I dislike the idea of a gamepad-based shooter - and if people like gamepad shooters, all the more power to them.

But something about that control scheme and I don't click. I tried playing Halo CE on Xbox once; I gave up on the second campaign level (on easy, no less) because I just couldn't deal with the controls.
