Today is my birthday. I got a phone card from my Dad yesterday and we're baking a cake today (it's just about done, I think). As always, it's going to be a small, family event. I imagine today is not going to be radically different from most days, as I have no particular plans for my birthday.
Funny how this doesn't bother me. When I was a kid, I was always afraid people would forget about my birthday, even though no one ever did. My birthday always seemed like the most important thing in the world to me, but now it barely registers on my mind. I guess I've just had too many things on my mind in recent days -- politics, religion, my writing career, ponies, upcoming vacation -- to think much about how I'd like to celebrate my birthday. Or maybe that's just what happens as you get older.
Whatever the reason, I get to have a tasty cake dedicated entirely to me. No reason to complain about that, eh?
Also, I will be gone from the 16th to the 18th. I will have little-to-no Internet access during that time, so if you notice my absence on those days, that's why.
