Story: The Arkiz Bear used to be a variant of the Ash Bear living on the Southern Continent, but a majority of the species broke off with Voya Nui, and again with Mahri Nui (wow). The Rahi was forced outside the air bubbles that protected the Matoran, leaving the Rahi open to attack by the Pit Mutagen. This is their evolved, mutated form.
