Disney Expo 23

Toa Smoke Monster

Lots of new info on upcoming movies from Disney was revealed this weekend at their Expo. This includes movies from Marvel, Lucasfilms, and Pixar movies. Here is a brief summary on some of the info revealed that I liked a lot.

1. Captain America: Civil War: Footage was shown of the film. I don't go into details of it, but I will say that it makes me even more excited to see it when it comes out May 6 of next year. I just wish Marvel would put the trailer online...

2. Doctor Strange: While no footage had been shot yet for this film, they were able to show off some concept art and talk about the character's origin, which I believe is staying pretty close to the comics.

3. Star Wars: The Force Awakens: I don't know how much info was released about it at the Expo, because I don't want to spoil myself too much on it. While a new trailer wasn't released for it, they did show off a really cooler poster and some cools photos from the movie.

4. Star Wars: Rogue One: This is the standalone Star Wars movie coming out next year. (December 16, 2016) The cast for this movie was revealed at the Expo, along with some info on the movie itself. It will 'be a departure from the saga films but have elements that are familiar to the Star Wars universe,' said Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy. It will take place before Episode 4 and will be about resistance fighters coming together to steal plans to the Death Star.

5. Pixar Movies: Posters for The Incredibles 2, Toy Story 4, Finding Dory, and Cars 3 were revealed at the Expo. More info was also revealed about Toy Story 4, in that it will be a love story. More info on Find Dory was revealed too, in that it will be about finding Dory's family and the adventure Dory and Marlin go on to find them. (I think Nemo goes with them too, but I couldn't find anything that says he does.) Nothing else was revealed about Incredibles 2 or Cars 3.

6. The Good Dinosaur: This Pixar film had a lot of scenes shown at the Expo, and its looks like its going to be another emotional film from the company. It comes out November 25, 2015.

7. Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tells: The only thing revealed about this was that Will Turner, played by Orlando Bloom, would be in the movie.

8. The Jungle Book: This is a live action version of the Disney Classic directed by Jon Favreau. (Director of the first two Iron Man movies) They showed some incomplete footage of the film to the fans at the reveal. The film comes out on April 15, 2016.

9. Alice Through the Looking Glass: A sequel to Tim Burton's the Alice in Wonderland, in which Alice returns to Underland and travels back in time to save Mad Hatter's life. This film will be released on May 27, 2016.

10. Pete's Dragon: A reimagining of the Disney film of the same name, this movie is about an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliot, who is a dragon. This film will be in theaters August 12, 2016.

11. Beauty and The Beast: Another live action version of a Disney Classic film. *No footage was available to be shown, since it is still being filmed. But it was revealed that it will have new recordings of the original songs along with new songs as well. It will be in theaters March 17, 2017. *(Edit. I believe that there actually was footage shown at the Expo, though it was only a couple of shots. The site I was reading just didn't say that. :P Sorry for the mix up.)

There were other movies that were either revealed or had more info revealed on them at the Expo, but the ones listed above are the ones I'm the most excited for. Especially the next Star Wars and Captain America. I can't wait to see those in theaters! B-)

They are actually making the Incredibles 2?

Yep. I believe all they had to show of it was a poster with the Incredible's logo with a 'II' on it though, along with the words 'coming soon' at the bottom of said poster. But it is being made. :)

Don't forget about Pixar's Coco! It's easily my most anticipated of their upcoming films. Don't forget about Moana or Gigantic either, both of which had art reveals at the expo (character designs for the former, concept art for the latter).

Also there was pretty much nothing for The Force Awakens aside from that poster which I thought was, quite frankly, pretty bad.

Was there not footage for Beauty and the Beast? I recall a news feed mentioning that there was a very brief shot in the intro video at least.

I don't know if there was footage shown of Beauty and the Beast. The source I read didn't say any was shown, and only that it was still being filmed. But something could have been shown. I just might not have read anything on it. :P

Here's a description of the footage given (I guess it was shown before the animation panel?):

Belle in the forest

Quick shot of Belle in the forest before she ends up at the Beast’s castle. It’s dark and blue (reminded me a lot of “Into the Woods”) and you can see snow on the ground.

Belle is in a cloak so we can’t see what her outfit is. I’m 95% sure that the cloak is navy blue but with how blue the shot was I can’t be 100% sure. She looks FREAKED OUT but not hysterical.

Belle on the stairs in the Iconic Yellow Dress

Quick shot of Belle stepping down the stairs. Staircase is gold and whimsical, very similar to Cinderella’s carriage from the latest “Cinderella” movie. The yellow dress is more of a sheer fabric than the heavy material in the cartoon version. The skirt is less full. Still stunning. Top looks similar to “Once Upon A Time” Belle’s yellow dress but not as poofy.

Belle looking up

Last shot is Belle in the yellow dress looking up at (I’m assuming) the Beast. She looks like she’s kneeling or in a deep curtsy.

The source had not safe for BZP content so I can't link to it, but it should be easy to find.

That description makes my interest grow for this movie. (I'm actually more interested in seeing Beauty and the Beast than I thought I would be.) Thanks for posting this.

While I'm critical of Disney's latest obsession to live action remake everything, I'm kind of excited for this one. Beauty and the Beast has always been one of my favorite Disney's animated features, but it has some minor issues in the storytelling that I'm hoping this will correct. I'm also a fan of Alan Menken, and while I would rather see original material from him, I won't say no to him redoing his classic music for this movie. And lastly, much like Cinderella (2015), this will probably be one giant reel of eye candy with the sets and costumes.
