the only thing really bad about galidor's story from what I remember, outside cheesiness typical for kid shows, was that it never got a proper ending. =/

Eh. Rewriting Galidor's story for the better probably isn't too unreasonable, considering I remember it being more so-so than outright bad. The real Herculean task would be sorting out the toyline. Although it would likely go hand in hand wth a rewrite, considering Galidor's biggest problem was, unfortunately,  being screwed over by its merch sales.
