Bringing Okoto to life with animation

If you read my previous entry, you know that I'm creating a third Wildlife Combiner installment, this time with a video. Well I've been creating some 3D scenes for each of the regions, by dissecting each regions' art into layers and creating short animations that show the art in motion. They're really cool (and a lot of fun to make!) and I'm excited to share them next year. :D

But while I wait for the new sets, I'm also creating an animation of the island itself. So right now, I'm working on a 3D island of Okoto, and once it's done, I can pan around the island in the video. I just started it tonight, so it's very preliminary, but it's looking pretty cool so here's a preview!

(I am going to be so very disappointed if next year takes place on a different island by the way :P )

Oooh. You're right. That does look really cool, especially for something preliminary.

Thanks, now that the premise is done I can start adding detail to the 3D model (like fixing that volcano for example), and adding clouds and other environmental stuff.

Looking really intense! I always love seeing Bionicle fans express themselves creatively, especially when it's in media that few people dabble in like 3D rendering. Keep up the amazing work!

Thanks for the encouraging words. I'm all hyped up for the new sets, but when I have to wait a whole month, stuff like this occupies my time. :P

wow . I wish I could do that .

*cries ever more because the tears smeared the ink*

It's quite easy to get started with 3D modeling, you ought to download Blender and see if it's your thing. :)
