Metroid's 30th Anniversary

Toa Smoke Monster

For those who weren't aware, this year is the 30th anniversary of Nintendo's Metroid franchise. It is hands down my favorite franchise from them. I love it even more than Pokemon. Samus Aran is also one of my favorite video game characters out there.

I own all the Metroid games in one way or another, and I've played through all but two of them. (Those two being the original Metroid and Metroid 2: Return of Samus.) Out of the ones I've completed, I've 100% all of them except Super Metroid. (Please don't kill me, Metroid fans of BZP. :begging: )

Since this is a special year for my favorite franchise, I thought I would do something for it here. The thing is, I don't know what. Should I have a top ten list about Metroid, ranking my favorite games from it? Or maybe do a list of my favorite bosses, weapons, or something else from Metroid itself? Maybe post reviews of some of the games here, just to get my thoughts out about them?

What do you think I should do and/or want to see? I will say that I can't draw to save my life, so don't expect any artwork. :P Also, I don't own any equipment to make videos for Youtube, so that's off the table too. But I'm open to any suggestions made.

What do you guys want to see?

Metroid is hands down my favourite game franchise. Can't believe it's been 30 years! It's a bit disappointing, because I never got a chance to play the Prime series, which looked amazing. But I've played through Zero Mission and Fusion multiple times, I've played Prime Hunters (the Nintendo DS game), I've played Other M, but am yet to finish it, the original Metroid, Metroid 2: Return of Samus and a bit of Super Metroid. I wish I had the tenacity to go for 100% runs, but I mostly went for speed runs on Zero Mission and Fusion.

I think a list of your top 10 favourites would be really cool!

I have the anniversary day marked on my calendar and I'm going to make every profile I have Metroid themed. Since I only recently got access to a console I have access to whenever I want I have yet to complete most of the games but I need to do that.

I'm probably going to celebrate by playing Zero Mission, the first game I played in the series oh so long ago.

The Prime series was amazing! And if you have a Wii U, you can purchase it from the e-shop, without even tracking down a physical copy. I'd highly recommend it.

Given that there aren't so many games, a top ten bosses/items/weapons list sounds like it would be the most interesting.

Yeah. I mean, there were only ten games in the first place... Unless, of course, you count

How do these work
Trilogy and Pinball...

As someone who has played the Gamecube versions of Metroid Prime one and two as well as Corruption for the Wii, I can agree that all three games are amazing. They stand as some of my favorite video games to this day.

As for lists, a top ten weapons sounds interesting to me as well. I was thinking about a 'Top Ten Beam weapons' and a 'Top Ten Other Upgrades' lists. Maybe even a Top Five lists for the suits as well. There's so much I could do. :)

you know what i really want to see?

an actual new metroid game :(

I do as well. I know that Metroid Prime: Federation Force is coming out later this year, so hopefully that fills the void in Metroid fan's hearts.
