Am I Too Polite?

Jedi Master J.

As the title says, I just been wondering if people here think that I maybe too polite at times. I know it isn't really a bad thing being polite, but I can't help but feel that I maybe little too polite at times. *shrug* I guessing it just has to do with how I don't want to get anyone anger at me, so when ever I said things that I think could anger someone, I said sorry.

So, if you all could answer this, I very much appreciate it. Thank you for your time.

It's not an issue of being too polite, but perhaps being too cautious (good lord I sound like Icarax ). There are enough anti-flaming rules on BZP to be assured that noone will blow up in your face for expressing different opinions, even expressing them confidently. As it is, you seem a bit timid, and it would help if you'd try to be a bit more casual, though of course I know that casual conversation doesn't come to everyone easily.

I recommend that you try debating your opinions in sets or collectibles topics. That's one way I managed to build up my confidence, though as you notice I might take a tad too much care in formal speech, which combined with my frequent agreement with Bonesiii's subjective set opinions if not his insistence on objective ones gets me labeled as a Bonesite, a label I am not uncomfortable wearing.

Hmm...I see. But you must know that being causal isn't really something that I am good at as I really have no social skills. I am extremely shy in real life, so I am unsure of what to talk to people about really.

I personally don't think I do well doing such a thing as debating about a set or collectible as I personally have no opinion about them really as I have like all that had been released. And with the lack of any really Mocing skill, you don't expect more than what you get from Lego designs for the sets.

I am no Bonesii, so I don't really have skill to debate things about the storyline either as I am nowhere as intelligent as him.

I was pretty anti-social for a long time as well. I can't guarantee that you'll get over it as easily as I did, assuming that I got over it and it was done easily (statements which differ depending on one's point of view), but after some time and practice you should become more comfortable with casual debate and conversation. Anyway, you'll find that you have preferences among sets even if you do not think particularly badly of any of them, and I encourage you to try and figure out which ones you like better or worse and why. Anyway, even liking most sets, you can still debate in their defense once you know why it is that you like them. Maybe you'll be better able to judge the vehicle sets, since most seem to have action features and I know you have some engineering talent given your work in your applied physics class (I wish my school offered something that cool).

GO INSANE

WORKS FOR ME

Insanity isn't my style, so no thanks. Sanity is more my style and I preferred to keep it.

I am not really sure about that, Aanchir. I never been one like my father, who could start up a conversation with anyone. It is really something that I never been used to of doing, which is my main reason for disliking doing things like presentations to the whole class as I don't feel comfortable talking aloud to them all. Most of my family often say to me that I won't do well in life, if I don't get over this shyness in the near future.

And the only thing that I can think of that I was sad about the sets now and days is that gears were taken away as I personally love building the sets of the past that had functions ran by gears. It may of even been the thing that really pull me into Bionicle in the first place. And now, they are gone. :(

I, of course, understand why they are gone and I can't but like some of the new sets of today, but I do miss the old gear era none the less as it was during the time, when I actually fit in Lego age range for the sets as in my childhood.

I personally don't think I do well defensing sets that I like as I can't really think of the words to do so. And I wouldn't say I really have an engineering talent as anyone could pass the class really as the teacher goes easy on people, so its a pretty easy A.

I am not even sure if the project that I am basing off the design of Zamor Launcher will even work to get the Softball as far as it needs to go for the project. *sigh* Then my teammates will blame me for having them used the design instead of making a catapult like everyone else.
