Tasting The Town

Being in a LUG (LEGO Users' Group) has it's perks. Besides regularly meetings hanging out with AFOL's in one big room building Lego, we (as in my LUG, WAMALUG) get invited to events around town, to display our MOCs and talk to the community about who we are, what we do, why we're grown (mostly) people building with Lego, etc.

Today was such an event. Reston, Virginia, has a certain strip mall called Reston Town Center. Each year they have the Taste of the Town, in which food vendors from the Town Center and nearby come out with some food samples and such. People nearby (and not so nearby if you think about my 35 minute drive, but as I always say it's worth it to get "out" to hang out with friends) come to enjoy live bands, visit the Kids Korner, and of course, taste the town.

WAMALUG was there to be part of Kids Korner. We set up a small town (houses next to each other), put all my space MOCs next to it, and surrounded it with a train track (with train). It was also decorated with minifigs. Many minifigs. I put Spider-Man against Doctor Octopus on one roof. Some Jedi and Sith (and some custom ones) were dueling it out all over. I made a Boy Scout minifig recently, and he was found hiking around town. There were tons of minifigs and cars just adding to the whole scene.

There may be pictures later, but right now there aren't any. I would have taken pix, but I didn't have a camera available today. Other minor details include that we get free food (tickets)!

So who else was there? Well, two of my friends had other plans, but Heather showed up with a plane and two cars to show off, and a grey baseplate for me. (Can you say moonbase?) If anyone is in the WAMALUG area, I invite you to come to a meeting sometime.

At 3:00 it started getting windy, then rainy, then windy and rainy, then it was pouring. By the time is was both, we were already half packed from the first big gust of wind, which just went through the town like a tornado. So we left in pouring rain and soaked, but it was fun.

"How long did it take you to build this?"

-People today

"Five minutes."

I doubt you'll get any, unless the guy that was taking them decides to load them up.
