Update On The House!

Okay, since it has been about a year... I have MUCH updating to do on the new house. Remember the "I Hate Manual Labor" entry a while back? That's done. About a literal TON of beer cans was hauled over to the scrap yard also. Now... For new stuff. First, the Pros.

Pros:

The entire house now has exposed stone walls, which look absolutely beautiful.

We are getting the rooms cleared out and painted.

The entire kitchen and pantry will be getting new linoleum tile floors and will be painted beautifully after work will be finished below (Will be explained in the Cons).

Cons:

The area between the concrete footer and the floor (about 4 feet, I think) is COMPLETELY rotted out for the addition (where said kitchen and pantry is at), and needs repairs ASAP (another reason why there is about a 4-5' diameter hole in the kitchen floor).

The roof needs to be replaced for a VERY sloppy, shabby job years back (shingles laying everywhere, exposed flashing, ###### roofing PERIOD). Parents will be replacing it with a standing seam metal roof.

The center part of the house is in need of re-pointing, aka re-do the gaps between the stones, for the half-baked "finished" product (not smooth, very rough, sticks out past the stone). Now, I'm not sayin' that my grandfather did a bad job (considering he DID do the pointing on the house before this most recent one that we had a pro come in and do it), but it wasn't spectacular, either... I'm sorry, but we'll get it fixed up.

The garage's walls and roof are falling down, and are in need of repair.

...So yeah. Need a lot of work, but it'll get done.

...So yeah.
