We're An Anarcho-Syndicalist Commune!

Hello, fine people! It's been a while since I've rambled to this little corner of the internet, eh? This semester has been...interesting, to say the least. Here are some of the parts of it that have actually been quite pleasant and informative. I: Got to go home for spring break, which was especially nice given that we determined that I’m staying at college over the summer except of course for my trip to Puerto Rico. Met with some librarians over said break and got some great pointers and advi

Twenty Years

That is how long I've been alive, and do you know, I think this coming year might be even better than the last one, and that's saying quite a bit, because this last one was pretty splendid. Hurrah!

Fundraising: Doing It Right?

My college is having a fundraiser today to raise money for our sister school in Japan, which has been severely affected by the recent earthquakes, tsunami, and radiation leaks.   While I wholeheartedly approve of their end goal, I remain uncertain as to whether playing "Friday" nonstop until they get enough money qualifies as psychological torture and a violation of my Eighth Amendment rights.   (Also, Ghostbusting Tennant is the best thing since missile-riding Barrowman. QED.)

Love And Such

It sort of hit me recently that I've been really kind of horrible about blogging and keeping up with people on here since I've been at college. Sorry for that, people.   So! Real life! And profundity? Whaa? Anyway, I spent spring break with my...first cousins once removed? That's what we settled on, anyway. They live in South Dakota, and they were incredibly nice and accommodating. They let me use their car for most of the weekend, so I was able to drive around the city (inasmuch as South Dakot

Today, I found myself running across campus waving a jar of Nutella in the air.   I love my life.

Down Like A Raxacoricofallapatorian

Doctor Who was rickrolling people before rickrolling was even a thing. I <3 this show so much.   Also, quite a splendid night here. The Doctor was not the only one who danced.   *disappears back into college life*

Start Working On Job Applications

Find and create obscure advice memes instead     Also, so desperately does my brain want it to be Spring Break that it took the liberty of adjusting my internal chronometer to make me think for most of the day that it was Tuesday.

Oh My Gosh You Guys

Our news media has failed us in a way I'm not sure I can begin to describe. It's blatant. It's egregious. You can yammer on all you want about bias toward one side or the other, or about journalistic integrity versus sensationalism, or the treatment of classified information, but my chief grievance with the media is that they did not make it absolutely certain that I found out about this:   I love our wacky world.

Everything's Up To Date In Kansas City

Actually, that's probably not the case anymore. But some friends and I did decide to go down there tonight on a whim. We got there just as this mall was closing, but we still had a good time. You don't get photos of the good time, just this stuff:       Also, bonuses!           And now I need to go sleep, because I got four hours of it the other night in between writing a paper on Measure for Measure. Vincentio is silly.

Travelling The Island

So I spent a bit of tonight replaying the MNOLG for the first time in a long while, and the nostalgia throughout made my night, much more so than would have activities such as doing homework due for tomorrow. Certain strong impressions follow:   Taipu is the greatest character ever and has a black Ruru no matter what. So there.   Tohunga was changed to Matoran throughout the thing. The heck?   Was anyone else ever really frightened of the Kofo-Jaga lurking in the Onu-Koro tunnels? I mean, One

Life Is...

Life is an opportunity; benefit from it. Life is beauty; admire it. Life is bliss; taste it. Life is a dream; realize it. Life is a challenge; meet it. Life is a duty; complete it. Life is a game; play it. Life is a promise; fulfill it. Life is sorrow; overcome it. Life is a song; sing it. Life is a struggle; accept it. Life is a tragedy; confront it. Life is an adventure; dare it. Life is luck; make it. Life is too precious; do not destroy it. Life is life; fight for it.   ~Moth

Spring Semester

As I sit up in the waning hours of the fall semester, it might be appropriate to look to the spring semester, because apparently that is what one does once in college:   EN 302 Shakespeare 09:00am 09:50am M W F TH 200 Christian Moral Life 10:00am 10:50am M W F * SA 341 Adv. David Hume Has Ruined My Life.

With that, I do solemnly pledge to take finals and term papers more seriously in future, and I also maybe kind of promise to spend a little less time with delightful people in favor of doing homework if at all possible, but don't hold me to that one. But yeah, I kind of screwed up. Don't leave big projects till the last couple days, y'all.

What I Did On My Thanksgiving Break:

Set off the opening of the CSI: Miami theme at the end of theology class to commemorate the official beginning of break. Observed no amusement.   Hoped and prayed that my roommate would remember to lock the door before leaving.   Got into a pickup truck with three other people headed north.   Saw an Amish type with horses and a buggy somewhere in Iowa.   Read a bit of Fires of the Earth, by Jon Steingrimsson, until it got too dark. Tried to get some sleep.   Got distracted by trading texts

Nanorawr.

So I was totally apathetic towards NaNo and was still seriously considering not doing it when at 2pm, amidst an avalanche of Spanish homework, one of my main characters demanded to make her feelings on being trapped, cloned, and shot at on an alternate Earth known to the other. Now I've scraped out the prerequisite 1667-and-a-bit and am shortly going to sleep. I'd say let the madness begin, but it kind of already has. So you can run and tell that, etc.   Also, despite the fact that it is not re

10/23

This sort of thing strikes me as a bit self-serving, but I suppose it's a momentous enough occasion, and what is a blog but a place for self-promotion, anyway? Besides, Ben told me I should do this (by the way, I prefer "Older" by They Might Be Giants).   So yes, it is my nineteenth birthday, which is really quite splendid if you like prime numbers, which I do. It's been kind of weird what with being away from home and most of my friends being gone on fall break and other stuff, but I've made

It's Meeptastic!

Driven into the early hours of the later part of that which is usually called night, I find myself using almost every means possible to distract myself from finishing these two papers that are due at 8 and 9 tomorrow morning, which includes blogging! O frabjous day!   So um. College is still pretty darn awesome. It turns out that food services aren't canceled for fall break after all, so it will once more be like Hogwarts at Christmas! Only with a lot more athletes. :x My roommate has a girlfri
