Some Things Never Change

Recently, while going through my browser bookmarks, trying to organize my life, I stumbled across a folder of "BZP Work", which includes mainly set reviews I did back in the day, in case I ever wanted to show them off (hint: I don't; it turns out my writing has evolved in the last 5 years).   What discovering the bookmark folder did, however, was launch one of those infrequent reminiscing sessions where I log onto BZP (often invisibly, though not this time) and see what's happening. I was shocke

What's that lake again?

When I was little, I always used to get Lake Tahoe confused with Tahu. Yesterday, though, I took it to new extremes and tried to have a conversation with someone about Lake Hau. Needless to say, they had no idea what was going on.

Name of Month Puns

What are your favorite puns involving the names of months? Mine at the moment is the following:   February can't March, but April May.   Share yours, if you dare!

She's Wearing Off On Me

I felt nostalgic this weekend and watched some Sailor Moon episodes.   This morning, I overslept and was almost late for work. I'm learning the wrong things from this show. I'd match rather have super powers than always be late in the morning.

So Much Has Changed...

Wow. Three months away from BZP can be confusing. Blog Assistants are green now? I thought one of them was an FA because of that...And with so many people on the staff that weren't before...Wow. It's weird when you log in and are like "Woah. He's an FA? I remember when he was...pretty inexperienced."   And the signature guidelines had to change this month. You have no idea how weird it is to see all these large images, and you're like "Uhm...that's way over 250x100 or (what was that other size?

I'm Glad I Didn't Keep Up In 2009/10

I knew it as soon as I opened that comic what was going down inside.   » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «Kind of ended in a hurry, if you ask me. But then, how can you end something nonhurriedly? Climaxes do tend to be quick...

Canadian And Us Coins

While counting some of my monetary possessions recently, I noticed some strange coins. One appeared to be Japanese, one was a 1940 Wheat Penny from the US, and the other two were Canadian. I noticed that the Canadian 10-cent and 25-cent piece were of the same coloration as the US ones, and both similar in size to the coins I'm used to.   Now this is handy, because if you're traveling in whichever of the two countries you don't live in, it is fairly simple to count out your money, because they l

Suggest A Nukora Today!

My image at the top of my blog, my avatar, and my banner are so horridly outdated.   Someone make suggestions now!   EDIT: Oh, and a title/subtitle pair for this blog.

Every So Often

It occurs to me when I return to BZP, I keep saying things like "Oh, we finally got our own colour of names." And then I have to tell myself, "Nukora, the Blog Assistants are green, but you're not one of them." And I go "Oh yeah..."   And on another note, I remember when the Rahaga head was for the old people on BZP. But now I have one, and the old people have some new 2009 thing that I don't even recognize (and some have a Hahli Mahri head).   I'll see you within the next 4 months or so when

Combinatorix Problem

I hope I successfully used the title to attract all people who might know the answer to my question...   I know basic things like P(n,n), P(n,r), C(n,r)...And I even know the permutation of n choose n where p are alike and q are alike (n!/p!q!). The problem comes up with things like P(n,r) where p are alike and q are alike (as well as the combination equivalent). This comes up a lot and I have no idea how to set that up.   I find it important in card games where suit is irrelevant and only nu

Cargo Shorts

They must be in style this season just judging by the types of retailers selling them, but I can't really see how. I don't see how it's possible to look good with that mass of pockets...And in cargo shorts you just feel like you should be camping or hiking or touristing. It's odd...   Anyway...

Pants...

Apparently the rest of the people in the world with 36 inch leg length have at least a 36in. waist?   Designers should learn that freaky people like me aren't square.

Utopian Romances

They're going to be what undoes this culture. I'm tired of being invaded by Utopiistic images in songs and TV. Of course real life doesn't make a good story, but at least people could make better decisions if Utopias didn't make them think life was perfect.

Blog Entries!

Well, it really is a shame about the posts and topics, but since what I mostly use are the blogs, I'm glad. Now everyone get out there and post stuff in the forums.   Oh, and guess what? I only have 3 RPG contests to catch up on in the RPGC History! Unfortunately, it's not really just my post that is missing. That'd be okay to catch up on. But all the results and final polls are gone too. So if anyone recalls the winners, that's about the best I'll be able to do. No links, because there aren'

Usagi Tsukino

After learning the Japanese word for "moon" today, it finally occurred to me why Sailor Moon's last name was Tsukino. It means "of the moon".   Also today, I went through some Kanji with no intention of memorizing any (except the numbers 1-3 because they're easy). And now, I keep picturing the Kanji when translating into Japanese, but forget the pronunciation/Hiragana/Katakana. Examples of this are 日 (hi)[day] and the numbers.   You know what annoys me about Kanji? It's perfectly fine when som

Double Pong

I rediscovered (after a few years in the dark) today the game of Pong. And I started thinking about variations that could be done to the game. I thought of three of these, and was able to perfect one and since programming, think of and create yet another.   [flash=225,200]http://users.salmoncountry.net/tyler/pongmouse3.swf Link The two green bars on the bottom and the left are yours. New Word Trick

So, I was doing a "Save As..." today in Microsoft Word, but I wasn't sure if there was a shortcut key assigned to it or not (on some programs I have it's Ctrl + Alt + S). So I tried the aforementioned.   That's a really neat trick. I'll be sure to use that in the book I'm writing. It's useful to refer to other parts of the document when writing in another.

Good Music

So, this Spring/Summer I had this good station on Pandora that let me listen to good music that I liked. As Months progressed my tastes turned more to dance/techno and later JPop. I hadn't listened to that music in forever. This month, I made a station based on the music tastes of a girl I know. I was bored with my usual songs today, and I finally just opened a window of Pandora, with that station of hers open.   It's kind of funny because it's very similar to the old station I had that I like

Lanthanides And Actinides

Really, what's so wrong about putting the Lantanides and Actinides in with the rest of the elements on the periodic table? It's not like they make the table terribly wide, and it makes it easier to see the grouping IMO. I mean, the g-block makes the table big, but the La's and Ac's are just fine. And if the g-block is ever discovered, are they going to have two groups of elements with asterisks pointing to rows below the table?
